Mill City finance clerk indicted on three counts of first degree arson On the evening of September 13, 2010 a frantic call was placed to 911 from a neighbor near the city hall in Mill City. “The city hall just blew up,” the voice said. Joy Cronin of Gates, the city’s finance clerk since the summer of 2007, was rushed to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital Portland and treated for severe burns. At the time, Cronin reported she was passing by city hall and noticed “something wrong” and claimed she was burned as she approached the employees entrance. The blaze destroyed the entire building which once stood on Cedar St. Many of the city’s records, including many financial reports, were a total loss. This past Thursday evening, Cronin was arrested by Linn County deputies on a Circuit Court warrant after a grand jury indicted her on three counts of first degree arson. We all want answers, hopefully this will be the first steps of moving on and rebuilding.” Cronin’s co-workers, including the acting mayor at the time, Roel Lundquist, declined comment at the advice of city attorney James McGehee. A bail was posted for Cronin in the amount of $5,000 on August 19th by Kyle Cronin and she was released. A pre-trial conference is set for August 29 at 1:15 at

Now it’s time to move forward.” plannned Moving forward is the plan, with the design process for the new city hall to be finalized, “Hopefully by the the end of next week,” according to Precision Construction’s project design lead, Adam Thomas. “Our goal is then to start accepting bids from subcontractor, with hopes to hire as many locals as possible.”

A mystery move is an advanced kayaking trick, where the boater, in a specialized low volume kayak, slices into the water in a corkscrew fashion, submerging themselves completely, disappearing under the surface. The river conditions must be just right, with sharp eddy lines and a deep pool. “The Weasel”, as the N.S. park spot is known, is ideal, and “squirt boaters”, as they are known in the
