Happy New Year! Wolverette Saves Detroit Woman From Fire A local Santiam Canyon High School student was getting ready to leave for dance class this past Nov 5 when she spotted smoke and an orange glow surrounding her neighbors mobile home in Detroit. Brittany Foster (center) shares a moment At 6:30am, Brittany Foster, 15, didn‘t hesitate with an appreciative Sandy Bowers (left) and landowner Dave Shelton (right). to run and pound on the door, where neighbor Sandy Bower was unaware of the sparks coming from an adjoining travel trailer, very close to her bedroom. ―I could hear somebody screaming,‖ said Bower, who was about to take a shower when the fire erupted, and who went outside to see if someone had been hurt. In reality, it was the fifteen year old trying to alert Bower that she was the one in danger. ―I‘m just so proud of her,‖ said Deanne Foster, Brittany‘s mother. ―She didn‘t stand around—she just went in there and helped.‖ The rest of the family helped, too—like her brother Joseph Foster, who rescued a cat named Faddle and mother Deanne who tried to ex- Cont. on back page
