Our side of Bakersfield is growing. Families are moving in. New neighborhoods are emerging all around us.
To meet this growing need, we are preparing to build a new chapel on our campus—a sacred space for weddings, prayer, memorial services, ministry moments, and gatherings that shape faith and family.
This chapel will stand as a legacy of faith for decades to come.
We are investing today so future generations will know Jesus tomorrow.

... we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in Him.
EPHESIANS 3:12

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
HEBREWS 4:16

After nearly a year of writing, recording, and producing, Canyon Hills Music released a prayer album titled Abide. The Abide album echoes the heart of the Father, weaving beautiful and inspiring language straight from the pages of the Bible to create an atmosphere of worship and prayer. Each song was written and crafted around a key Scripture so listeners can meditate and pray through God’s Word. We pray these songs inspire the church to draw closer to Jesus and walk with Him daily. Our heart is that this album will bless any listener and be a resource during quiet times with the Lord.
We would not have been able to complete the album without team members, worship leaders, and musicians who helped write, arrange, sing, produce, and promote the album. We are grateful and inspired by their service to the Lord’s work through music.
We pray the Abide album continues to bless the heart of God and strengthen His Church.
In John 15, Jesus says, “Abide in me, and I in you.”

In the fall of 2021, my husband took a job out of town in hopes of making our lives better. We thought it was best if I stayed back with the kids so they can finish out the school year. Sunday night through Friday morning, it was me working a full-time job and taking care of three boys. I didn’t expect it to be, but it was a very dark and challenging season.
My only choice was to lean on the Lord. I needed clarity for us either to stay or move. I started attending service every Sunday and Wednesday night. I also joined the Anxious for Nothing Hope Group and it was one of the best decisions that could have ever gotten me through that time.
Many times during that season, I found myself covered in the prayers of my church family. They weren’t only praying for me, they were praying for my family, my kids, my marriage, and our circumstances. Without their love and support, I would have given up. When things seemed so dark, it was God’s Word speaking through His church that lifted me.
God transformed me. He helped me become a better mother, a better wife, and a better daughter of the Lord and showed me His promises that I’m seeing come true today.
There’s nothing more that I love than being involved with my church family. I’ve attended multiple Hope Groups, joined Women’s Bible Study, and Canyon Moms, and have joined the Canyon Kids Dream Team serving in Camp Courage and Fort Faith.
I began praying to the Lord about wanting to be used for more. One day at church, my friend and I approached a mutual friend, Tanya Guerrero, who leads Embrace Grace. We told her we wanted to do more, but we didn’t know where to start. With tears in her eyes, she said they had been praying for two leaders for Embrace Life, which is a group for single moms of school-age children. Without hesitation, I said yes! I didn’t have all the details, but I jumped in! I knew at that moment that was my calling and that was where the Lord was leading me.
I’m currently in my 4th season leading Embrace Life, and I have no doubt this is where I’m supposed to be. The moms come in weary, they come in tired, they come in burdened, and sometimes sad. Some weeks it’s just a safe place for them, which is what I long for. I want them to come and sit and be loved by the Lord.
My life is better now than I could have imagined it. We still have our trials and we’re still growing and we’re still learning. I think my children and my husband see what I do within the church, and it inspires them to lead with love and be there for people. I’m grateful to be able to give back to the same people who showed their love and grace to me at the time that I needed it.

...the righteous are as bold as a lion.
PROVERBS 28:1

On September 29th, Canyon Hills launched a new campus, Elevate Church. The church is strategically located in downtown Bakersfield and will serve the Elevate Apartments, a CityServe program, and surrounding areas. In the months since its launch, the auditorium has been filled with individuals giving their hearts to Christ, healings, and many answers to prayers.
By the grace of God, Elevate Church is becoming a vibrant, welcoming community, which is passionate about lifting the name of Jesus. Our Sunday services are Holy Spirit filled with powerful worship and Biblical teaching that inspires and equips people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. At Elevate Kids, children experience a fun and exciting place while learning more about God and how much Jesus loves them.

As we look ahead, Elevate Church has a lot to be excited about. We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first Journey group and men’s and women’s ministries. Additionally, Elevate Housing will be launching in the Spring of 2025, bringing a mission field to our front doorsteps. We are thrilled and ready to create opportunities where these individuals can connect and receive discipleship to live out their calling from the Lord.
As the Easter season approaches, Elevate will be going out into our community with outreaches and organizing fun activities for the whole family to enjoy together. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to reach our downtown community for Jesus!
