Approximately 4,000 ticket holders hoping to watch snowboard cross today and tomorrow will be turned away from Cypress Mountain. Heavy rains have washed the snow away from the general admission standing area, according to VANOC, leaving it unsafe for spectators. The cancellation will not affect anyone holding a ticket for the grandstand seating during snowboard cross, or anyone with a ticket for other events at Cypress. The $50 tickets will be refunded, according to the release.
