On behalf of City Council, I welcome you to the Fall 2010 edition of the Chilliwack Leisure Guide. Please take the time to look through the information printed here for a glimpse of the numerous opportunities available locally for you and your family. The variety and quality of offerings in this edition of the Leisure Guide reflect outstanding Chilliwack programs and services that are available. Our goal is to provide the best possible facilities and services within a responsible, financial framework. The Cheam Leisure Centre project was opened to the public in April. Next door, a new park and spray park are currently under construction. This guide has information on the Chilliwack Cultural Centre which is nearly finished and will open its doors late September. We are increasing the diversity of cultural and recreational opportunities for our citizens with these new public amenities. Stay tuned to the City’s website at www.chilliwack.com for updates on city projects, community events and celebrations. Chilliwack is a great place to live and we have enough local leisure opportunities to be “Active for Life”. I encourage you to make recreation a family event and take advantage of what your community has to offer. Mayor Sharon Gaetz
