Fire Evacuation Strategy
On average there will be a maximum of 50 persons occupying the entire premises. There is sufficient escape route capacity for a simultaneous evacuation procedure. This simply means that everyone is to react to the warning signal given when a fire is discovered, then making their way, by the nearest means of escape, to assembly point away from the premises.
On discovering a fire, it is the duty of every person to sound the nearest fire alarm immediately.
Action on hearing the fire alarm
On hearing the fire alarm all personnel should leave the building by the nearest available exit to the assembly point.
You must not stop or return to collect your belongings.
Fire Wardens, on hearing the fire alarm, you should proceed to your pre-determined positions to assist members of the public and staff to leave the building by the nearest safe route. The lift should not be used.
Do not re-enter the building until you are told to do so by the Fire Service or Canvas
Calling the Fire Service
The Fire Service should be informed immediately by the person discovering the fire or a Fire Warden by dialling 999. Then please contact the Canvas team on 020 3900 0662.
Fire Wardens
Canvas will provide basic Fire Warden training in the form of a guide, to a nominee(s) from each of the building’s occupants.
This will provide them with a basic understanding of fire prevention and enable them to identify possible fire hazards along with implementing suitable control measures.

Fire Wardens/Marshals are responsible for:-
• Assistance with evacuation drill procedures
• Ensuring personnel know location of fire alarm points.
• Ensuring regular use of primary and secondary escape routes.
• Procedure for nominated staff to assist employees and members of the public to nearest exits.
The Assembly point and roll call
The Assembly point for the building is to the front of the Premier Inn Hotel. In the event of an evacuation, a roll call will be taken at this location. The person who oversees the assembly point will report to the fire service indicating all persons accounted for or who’s missing and where they were last seen.

Training required
The emergency evacuation plan will be the subject of frequent training/practice so all employees are familiar with its contents and there will be regular evacuation drills.
The fire emergency evacuation plan should be included within all site inductions and training. We understand that an effective fire routine is dependent on regular instruction, training, practice, etc. Regular drills will be carried out using varying escape routes assuming the normal evacuation route is not available.
Fire drills will consider the following points:
• Regular intervals
• Records kept
• There should be drills completed at least once a year, from sounding of alarm to roll call procedure
• Fire Alarms and Fire Fighting Equipment should be tested at weekly intervals and records kept
• Fire equipment regularly serviced
Liaison with emergency services
If required, we will arrange all the necessary contacts with external emergency services and make them familiar with our fire action plan.
There will be a senior person nominated to meet the fire and rescue service when they arrive to provide them with any information they require. S/he will have an intimate knowledge of the premises and be in contact with the person conducting the roll call at the assemble point.
