As Premier of the Province of British Columbia, I am pleased to welcome everyone attending the 13 th Annual Gift of Time Gala here at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. A signature event for Canuck Place, this gala has become highly anticipated and respected. Canuck Place relies on the generosity of individuals, corporations and organizations and all proceeds from tonight will go towards the hospice. These funds will be invested in medication and equipment as well as respite care and important outreach programs. Since 1995, Canuck Place has provided compassionate care for families of children with life-threatening illnesses. It has allowed families and their children to have the support and care they need in the most critical of times. I would like to thank the wonderful volunteer gala committee, who have made this event such a success. I would also like to commend Canuck Place for everything it has done to help many British Columbians live with courage.

FAMILY SPEAKER MAUREEN LAFORGE Maureen and Scott were proud parents of 18-year-old Angela when their lives changed.

Angela had recently graduated high school and was living in Campbell River, Vancouver Island. She was exploring her options: going to college, finding a decent job, falling in love. She was a young adult who was entering a new time in her life. In January of 2015, her life turned an unexpected corner: she was diagnosed with chordoma, an aggressive and rare cancer with few treatment options. All of her ambitions as a young adult were placed on hold and for the next six months, Angela's life was a blur of surgeries, radiation treatments, and meetings with doctors in Vancouver. Unfortunately, Angela's cancer was terminal. In January of 2016, one year later, Angela, Maureen, and Scott were introduced to Canuck Place Children's Hospice. The small family of three was embraced with love and compassion and Angela was even able to enjoy a bubble bath for the first time in months - a favourite pastime of hers. The whole family received the care they needed to navigate through their heartache. Angela passed away in April of 2016 in the gardens of Canuck Place surrounded by her family, peace, and love. We are honoured to welcome Maureen and Scott to our gala tonight and honour their daughter Angela. 11 / 12

The Silent Auction will commence at 5:30 p.m. the final bid winners will be notified at the end of the night. Silent Auction item bids may be placed electronically via any auction tablet. Bids will be accepted in the order they are entered into the bidding system. The opening bid amount and minimum bid increments are identified on each auction item screen. You may raise your competitor’s bids as often as you wish. Canuck Place, in presenting this Silent Auction, makes every effort to properly describe all Silent Auction items.
