XLIV TWO

Rick L. Haines appointed board chairman of the Canton Regional Chamber for 2012 I’m excited for all of the opportunities in front of us as I begin my term as chairman of the board for the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. I’ve lived in this community for 30 years, and am proud to be given the chance to lead this group of like-minded business leaders. There are three initiatives that the Chamber will focus on in the coming year: • Jobs • Economic Development • Image

Jobs. We’ve had success in attracting new jobs to Stark County. We want to continue that momentum to increase the economic stability of our residents. We will maintain our support of existing business partners and our expanding membership base. Looking to the future, oil and gas exploration in the region’s Utica shale deposits offers the prospect of increased employment. The Chamber stands ready to support this industry as it expands into the area. Economic Development. We will continue our work with the City of Canton and the Stark Development Board to make Canton a competitive, strong choice for new businesses to this area – and for business expansion. The 2012 year will be one for promoting Canton and Stark County as a headquarters site for energy companies coming into our region.
