How to Get Ahead of the Holiday Marketing Rush Use your Chamber resources now to build visibility, reach the community, and prepare for the busy holiday season. Ready or not, the holidays are right around the corner. While it may feel early to start thinking about year-end promotions, October is the time to put those plans into motion. Once November arrives, the marketplace shifts quickly. National retail giants flood digital ad networks, print publications fill with seasonal offers, and consumer inboxes overflow. For a small or medium-sized business, competing for attention becomes more difficult as the season picks up momentum. The good news is that you still have time to get in front of it. Rather than relying solely on the same crowded ad networks everyone else uses, October is the ideal time to add Chamber resources to your marketing mix. Connecting with an Engaged Local Audience One advantage of Chamber advertising is the network already behind it. The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce connects nearly 1,900 member businesses, extending your exposure beyond business owners to employees, families, customers, and the community. Through the monthly ACTION newsletter, dedicated email blasts, and seasonal sponsorships, members can keep their brand top-of-mind across the region. What makes these channels especially valuable during Q4 is their relevance. Chamber advertising connects you directly with people who live, work, shop, and do business right in your backyard. For both B2B and B2C companies, that existing community connection can make your message more meaningful. The Early-Bird Marketing Playbook The key is matching your Q4 message to what your customers are already thinking about and giving them a reason to act before their calendars and shopping lists fill up. • For B2B Service Businesses: Promote corporate gifting solutions, holiday event catering, year-end office cleaning packages, or Q4 financial planning consultations. A Chamber email blast could highlight an incentive, added value, or preferred scheduling for members who book seasonal services by a specific date.
• For Consumer-Facing Brands: Give customers a reason to shop, visit, or book ahead of Black Friday and the traditional holiday shopping period. An e-blast or ACTION newsletter ad could promote a private shopping night, pre-holiday offer, seasonal event, gift idea, or special booking window. Even a timely reminder about a service people need before year-end can give customers a reason to choose your business now rather than putting the decision off until December. Strengthen Your Digital Profile Before the Search Spike Paid advertising is only part of the opportunity. Your Chamber business directory profile can also help people learn more about your company when they are actively searching for products, services, or businesses in the area. Take a few minutes to review your member profile and make sure the information available is accurate and up to date. Confirm your contact information, business description, website, and other key details so someone discovering your company can quickly understand what you offer and how to connect with you. Depending on your directory listing level, additional features may also be available, such as adding photos, links, enhanced business information, or promotional content. Some of these options may require a paid upgrade, so it is worth reviewing what is included with your current listing and whether an enhanced profile makes sense for your business. Don’t Wait Until November Setting these pieces in motion during October gives your marketing time to build momentum while clients and consumers are still finalizing their year-end plans, ensuring your business enters the busiest season with its message already established. PRO-TIP FROM UB ADVERTISING Reach out to the Chamber’s membership team this week to review their remaining Q4 advertising schedule and open inventory for the ACTION newsletter and dedicated e-blasts, which book up rapidly as the holidays approach. Need help crafting an eye-catching design or message for your upcoming campaign? Our team at UB Advertising can design and optimize your ad for maximum engagement and ROI.

Canton Regional Chamber 401(k) Retirement Program
A strong retirement benefit program can help businesses of all sizes gain a competitive edge to attract and retain talent — but it can also mean added costs and responsibility. A multiple employer plan (MEP) may be an attractive option for businesses seeking to ease the administrative burden, fiduciary risk, and expense of offering a quality retirement plan. The Canton Regional Chamber has partnered with the Greater Akron Chamber to offer this benefit to all members.
What is a MEP? It’s a retirement plan sponsored by one entity for unrelated organizations that share a common business interest.
How it works •
MEP sponsor is the “lead” plan and generally the plan administrator and fiduciary
•
“Adopting employers” can elect to join the MEP
•
These plans can be defined contribution (DC) or defined benefit (DB) plans
•
At any time, adopting employers are easily integrated into the plan hosted by the sponsor and tracked on the Transamerica platform
MEP sponsor
Adopting employers
Member benefits The key to outstanding support for this MEP starts with Transamerica’s sophisticated recordkeeping platform. Our ability to track adopting employers using one contract allows you to enjoy the following benefits: •
Flexible plan features (safe harbor, Roth, etc.) and customizable plan design (eligibility, matching contribution formula, and more)
•
Reporting data for each employer based on your unique employee base
•
No individual annual audit or individual Form 5500 filing
•
Potential cost savings through pooled assets compared to operating a single employer plan
•
Dedicated website for adopting employers to gauge plan performance and participant engagement
•
Dedicated participant website with tools and resources designed to help brighten retirement outcomes
Businesses can receive a startup tax credit covering 100% plan setup Often small businesses shy away from offering their employees a 401(k) plan under the fear of the costs the business is not willing to absorb. Employers who sponsor a 401(k) plan - particularly small and mid-sized businesses - may be eligible for valuable federal tax credits designed to significantly offset the cost of offering retirement benefits. Businesses with up to 100 employees can receive a startup tax credit covering 100% of eligible plan setup and administrative costs, up to $5,000 annually for the first three years. In addition, employers that include automatic enrollment may qualify for an extra $500 per year for three years. These incentives make launching a new retirement

plan more affordable than ever. Even more impactful, recent legislation introduced a new employer contribution tax credit, allowing eligible businesses to claim a credit of up to $1,000 per employee per year for contributions such as matching or profit sharing. This credit is available for up to five years, starting at 100% in the first two years and gradually phasing down. When combined, these credits can substantially reduce, or even fully offset, the cost of establishing and funding a 401(k) plan, creating a powerful opportunity for employers to enhance employee benefits while lowering their tax burden.

ACTION Flashback!
The Halle Brothers Company (1891-1982), a department store known for high quality merchandise and superior service, began on February 7, 1891 as a small hat and fur shop operated by brothers Samuel H. (1868-1954) and Salmon P. Halle (18661949). It was located near Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1902 the company was incorporated, changing its name from Halle Brothers to The Halle Bros. Co. The store continued to grow, adding both space and departments. An addition was opened in 1914 allowing for the addition of new departments including furniture, toys, and sporting goods. The department store changed locations multiple times in the Cleveland area. By 1927 a new building, the Huron-Prospect store was opened in the Playhouse Square district. Branch stores were opened in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1929 and Canton, Ohio, in 1930. The Canton location was seated on the corner of Sixth and Market Avenue. Although losses did occur during the Depression, business bounced back after World War II allowing Halle Bros. Co. to open suburban branches, beginning with a Shaker Square store in 1948. The Halle Bros. operations in Canton ended when A. Polsky Company (an Allied unit from Akron) took possession at the close of business on October 1, 1955, and reopened the main store under the Polsky name on October 5, 1955. Halle Bros. returned to the Canton area much later when a store opened in Belden Village Mall in 1970. Chamber file photo circa1955
