WHAT WE DO At Canopy Center, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard. For 48 years, we have walked alongside children and families in Dane and Columbia County, to break cycles of abuse, foster resilience, and open pathways to healing. While that has looked different throughout the years, today, we carry out this mission through three core programs:
CASA of Dane and Columbia Counties Parent to Child Supervised Visitation Oasis Mental Health Clinic Together, these programs form a canopy of care – protecting children, supporting families, and strengthening our community.

OUR PROGRAMS CASA OF DANE & COLUMBIA COUNTIES We are the sole provider of Cour t Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) ser vices in Dane and Columbia Counties – the only program permitted in the cour troom for Child in Need of Protection or Ser vices cases. Through CASA, we recruit, train, and suppor t volunteers that advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, and walk alongside teens as they transition out of the child welfare system.
PARENT TO CHILD Parent to Child is Canopy Center’s super vised visitation program. Super vised visitation keeps children safe and secure while still allowing them to maintain or rebuild a relationship with a parent. We know that each family’s needs are unique – which is why we offer visits on-site, in family homes, during the day, in the evening, and on weekends.
OASIS MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC Oasis provides compassionate, client-centered care for children and youth who have experienced sexual abuse in south centeral Wisconsin and their suppor tive caregivers, to heal trauma and prevent future harm. We help reduce barriers to healing by providing interpretation and translation, transpor tation assistance, childcare and emergency food assistance, so families can focus on getting the suppor t they need.

A LETTER FROM OUR
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
We are stronger when we are in community with one another. For Canopy Center, 2025 was a year of making and strengthening connections. Staff spent more than 600 hours connecting with the community. Through this outreach, we were able to more effectively connect families with needed supports and garner the support we need to provide our services. In May, we held our second annual Advocate Summit. We invited volunteers, foster parents, mentors, and service providers, who work with children dealing with challenging circumstances, to come together for the day and strengthen the advocacy and support we give. We are grateful for the time given by our presenters, including Safe Harbor who walked through the process a child navigates from disclosure of abuse, to their forensic interview, and the possibility of a child welfare case opening. For our CASA volunteers, helping children navigate these systems is a vital element of the support we provide. We also celebrated 10 years of our Parent to Child supervised visitation program. In 2015, a judicial workgroup committed themselves to finding ways to improve services for families in the child welfare system. The ability to provide safe, supervised family contact on nights and weekends was a real gap, and Parent to Child was piloted to fill that gap. Ten years later, we continue to show up for families and support them as they rebuild connection. As we continue to adjust to the shortfall in federal funding for victim services, we are grateful that Wisconsin legislators included victim services funding in the budget cycle. Canopy Center was awarded funds through the competitive process that followed, which was critical following cuts to our Victims of Crime Act funding, particularly for our mental health program. We are grateful to all who contributed to a study on the impact of the reduced federal funding through the UW Madison LaFollette School of Public Affairs. This study helped stakeholders better understand the impact on victim serving agencies like Canopy Center, and helped pave the way for this state funding. We have so many in our community to give credit to for another year of services provided at Canopy Center. From our funders and supporters, to the 128 volunteers that make the work possible, we extend our immense and sincere gratitude. Thank you,
Meaghan Henry Executive Director
