FIBRE FIBRE TERMINATION SERVICE Qualified and speedy service The nature of the broadcast market often means customer requirements are urgent and so Canford’s fibre service was set-up to offer a short lead-time for the termination of broadcast connectors: LEMO SMPTE and Neutrik opticalCON. Fibre termination is delicate, precision work. Canford staff complete specialist certified training programmes before they can produce the mission critical cables which are often deployed at broadcast studios, premier football grounds and other outside broadcast venues.

Test certificates are available if required, and will certify curvature radius, linear and angular offset, spherical fibre height along with a 3D illustration of the ferrule profile.

NEW SMPTE PRE-TERMINATED CABLES Canford now offers a variety of SMPTE fibre cables including Furukawa, Draka, Belden OCC and Percon that are kept in stock to ensure quick turn-around times on the cable assemblies. Cables can be terminated to customers’ specification using LEMO connectors as well as LCs, SCs and STs. Pre-terminated cables can be used in conjunction with the Canford Hybrid Fibre Field Termination Box.

FIBRE NEW CANFORD ANGLED UNIVERSAL PANEL Based on the same design as the opticalCON Field Termination Box these panels are supplied in 8 and 12 way and incorporate a simple cable management plate at the rear. They are suitable for use with any D series/Universal series connector and suited to applications where it is beneficial to relieve the stress on the mating cable.

CANFORD OPTICALCON BREAKOUT BOXES Where multi-way fibre cables fitted with Neutrik opticalCON Dual or opticalCON Quad connectors are used to provide a point-to-point link, these break-out boxes split the two or four channels to a variety of other formats including; Duplex LC, SC and ST connectors, depending on the model. The connectors are mounted in a rugged, extruded enclosure, suitable for use in broadcasting and live-event environments. Both multi-mode and single-mode types are offered. Similar to our range of rack mountable field termination boxes they offer not only the possibility of a “plug and play” approach but also simplify the process of on-site installation and maintenance. They are particularly useful in installations where depth is an issue as the SMPTE cable can be brought away from the rear of the panel then terminated elsewhere in a safe and secure manner. The enclosures are also provided with a shroud to offer additional protection against accidental damage to the breakout connections. The enclosures come supplied with the required fibre patch cords, electrical crimp contacts and splice protector sleeves to help facilitate easy installation.

SENKO FIBRE CONNECTOR CLEANERS Smart series SENKO Smart Cleaners have been specifically designed to allow cleaning of fibre connections that reside in a bulkheads, adapters or faceplates without the need to remove the connector. Simply pushing the cleaner into the bulkhead, adapter or faceplate until the unit ‘clicks’ will clean the face with a ‘twist and wipe’ motion. Both re-usable and disposable alternatives are offered.

The re-usable cleaner allows more than 750 cleanings per cartridge and, once spent, the cartridge can then be replaced. Replacement cartridges are offered in packs of three; 50-1503 for LC, MU or 50-1505 for SC, FC,ST, E-2000.

The disposable cleaners offer in excess of 400 cleanings for the SC/FC, MU/LC and the cassette cleaner types. The MPO/MTP types offer more than 600 cleanings.

FIBRE NEW CANFORD ANGLED 12 WAY OPTICALCON DUO SMPTE FIELD TERMINATION BOX These 1U rack enclosures will be manufactured to accept either 8 or 12 opticalCON connectors and are designed to facilitate easy on site termination.

The range will be fitted with Neutrik NO2-4DW-1A SMPTE DUO connectors and blue singlemode flanges.The electrical contacts on the connectors will be terminated to 6 pin Mate-N-Lok male panel connectors which in turn terminates to a the female bulkhead connector fitted within the enclosure. A 24 way splice tray and 2 cable management spools are also provided within the case. During installation the SMPTE 311M cable is brought into the enclosure and the electrical conductors are fitted with the supplied crimp contacts before being inserted into the female Mate-N-Lok bulkhead connector.The fibre cores are routed via the cable management spools to the splice tray and spliced to the provided LC patch cords before connecting to the rear of the DUO connector.

The enclosure will come supplied with all of the required components to facilitate easy installation.

CANFORD FIBRE FIELD TERMINATION RACKMOUNT CASE Designed to facilitate a fast, easy and effective solution for installing hybrid fibre connectors on site and eliminates the need for pre-terminated cable assemblies. The boxes come complete with up to 8 x Lemo 3K.93C EDW or FMW cable assemblies pre-fitted in either a flat or angled 2U front panel.

The SMPTE cable enters the chassis via rear cable glands and the strain relief is secured to the clamping post. The electrical cables are then terminated directly to the AMP connector provided on the internal bulkhead. The fibre cables terminate directly to the SC coupler on the same bulkhead using SENKO XP Fit Plus connectors or alternatively via SC tails which are spliced to the incoming fibre using the internal splice tray.

This system not only provides improved protection to both the electrical and fibre connections which are secured within the case but also allows for quick and easy replacement/repair of any failed SMPTE connectors.

CANFORD F-TYPE TERMINATION PANELS A range of termination panels supplied fully-populated with double-sided F-type female connectors. Typically used for RF distribution, CATV and CCTV. Two types are available as standard to suit different earthing requirements.

Standard types have connectors fitted directly into the panel so are nominally insulated from the panel by the powder coating, but they cannot be classed as either insulated or earthed. The fully-earthed types have an exposed metal area on the rear of the panel under each star washer and mounting nut, giving a guaranteed earth connection between each connector and the panel. They are also fitted with an earthing stud for common connection to a technical earthing point. Connectors fitted with fully insulating washers may also be supplied to special order.

CANFORD BANTAM JACKFIELD The Neutrik bantam jacks are set at ‘stereo-pitch’ (paired) or ‘mono-pitch’ (equally spaced) in two rows of 48 in a 1U panel. Jacks are 5-point, palladium-contact type with a heavy duty nickel-plated frame and front ring to ensure a long and reliable operational life.

VIDEO/AUDIO NEW CANFORD CUSTOM SCREEN PRINTING SERVICE Using our significant experience of the silk screen printing process Canford is able to offer this service to customers who are looking to uniquely identify, promote or label their product. From helping to develop the initial artworks to producing the final film and mesh frame we can work with the client to ensure the end result meets their specification and delivers a high quality print.

Typical applications include the branding of rack blanks with a company logo, service details and contact information. Once fitted into a rack, this provides both useful information to the end user and additional, cost-effective marketing for the installer.

The custom screen-printing service is ideally suited to single or multiple colour applications where the volumes are higher (20+) and the print remains the same across the entire batch.

NEW ENGRAVING BY CANFORD Following substantial investment in the latest Trotec Laser Engraving machine incorporating both CO2 and Fibre technology Canford are now able to offer an in-house custom engraving service. With a working area of 1000 x 610mm and the capability to mark a wide variety of metals and finishes with very fine detailing we can achieve not only basic labelling but also intricate customer logos and designs.

CANFORD WALLBOXES - SURFACE MOUNTING, MODULAR A series of rugged steel wallboxes offering a vast range of connection possibilities when combined with ‘Universal’ series connectors. A robust, folded chassis forms the basis for the box with a choice of front plates with up to 48 ‘Universal’ cutouts. Front plate ‘Universal’ connector holes are numbered sequentially (e.g. 1-12, 1-16 etc). The back chassis is supplied with a selection of mounting holes and cable access holes in the rear face. Supplied with necessary hardware to assemble box. Finished in Black.

CANFORD CONNECTOR PLATES The VGA connector is stock code 44-102 BTX CD-SLIM15F D-sub HD 15 pin female, panel mount with screw wire terminals.

The 3.5mm jack is stock code 43-259 Miniature jack socket 3.5mm 3-pole, nickel plated body with gold plated contacts.

The HDMI connection is via a 155mm length moulded cable assembly, with female panel-mount and free female connectors, high speed with Ethernet. This allows the use of standard deep mounting boxes with inline connection of the installed HDMI cable horizontally in the box or ducting. Note that 35mm minimum depth is required behind the faceplate.

Plates are manufactured from 1.5mm steel and finished in a hardwearing black or white powder coating. Other connector combinations including USB, HDMI or DVI with screw terminals and RJ45 types are available to special order.

CABLE CANFORD CAT5E-F-J CATEGORY 5E DATA CABLE Stranded conductor, screened - Multi-circuit, flexible and heavy duty grades Multi-circuit deployable Cat5E cables, for both studio and touring/OB applications, based on Canford’s CAT5E-F screened flexible cable.

The heavy duty version (formerly called ‘touring’) uses the standard CAT5E-F 6.2mm diameter flexible cable, with colour coded and numbered individual jackets.

The overall jacket has a tough layer of PUR (polyurethane) for abrasion resistance.

This Category 5E cable has been designed specifically for the professional audio and video user, and is intended to handle like a typical microphone cable. It has an extra-flexible four-pair core structure, that maintains Category 5E performance, a foil screen, then a special soft PVC composite material outer jacket, to give superb flexibility and handling characteristics.

It is available in a variety of colours, plus a special “metallic silver” (nonconducting!) version specifically for “high tech” in-vision applications.
