Tajima Australian Grainfed Wagyu has over 60 farmers who produce Tajima Wagyu cattle, ranging from northern NSW to southwestern Victoria. The Tajima program has partnered with only the best farmers, who are renowned for their commitment to best practice ethics, animal health and welfare and sustainability. Many of these farmers have been working with the Tajima program since its inception in 2007.

Welcome to the Summer edition of our Members Magazine.
At the recent 2024 ClubsACT and Community Awards, your Club received four awards:
• Contribution to Sport, Community, Development, and Wellbeing
• Emerging Talent – Employee of the Year: Jason Nguyen, our Woden Central Manager
• Compete for OUR HEART CHALLENGE (Large Club) in partnership with the Canberra Hospital Foundation
• Heart of the Community (Large Club of the Year Award)
These awards reflect the dedication of our staff, members, and the wider Canberra community. Being named the ‘Heart of the Community’ resonates deeply with our 84,000 members. We remain committed to offering support wherever possible and sharing stories about our impact on various community groups, from sports to welfare services, schools, and charities. You can learn more about the awards on page 14.
Stage 1 of the Tuggeranong refurbishment is complete. This marks the beginning of significant upgrades for our 22,000 Southside members. The new gaming floor, bar, and refurbished amenities are now open and will be followed by stage 2 beginning in January, which includes the new ‘Southbound’ dining and bar area.
We’re also excited to welcome Tracey Broadhead, our new CFO, and Greg Chamberlain, our newly appointed General Manager of Health and Wellness. Both are great appointments and are passionate about the Club, community and their teams.

We’re excited to announce that Stage 1 of our Tuggeranong renovation is now complete! Come check out our newly renovated gaming floor and bar, as well as our upgraded female amenities, including a baby change room and dedicated accessible bathroom.
Stage 2 will kick off at the end of January and is the largest phase of our three-stage renovation. This stage will feature Southbound, our new pub within the club, complete with a massive LED screen and skylight, Henry’s Family Restaurant, a parrilla grill, kitchen, bar, café, The Terrace—an upscale table-service restaurant, Professoressa Gelati, TAB and sports bar.
We’re excited to announce that we’re aiming to complete stage 2 in June 2025, and we can’t wait to share this new venue with you! A huge thank you to all our members for your continued patience and support throughout this process.

School Holiday Swim Intensive Program
An intensive burst of practice, such as our School Holiday Intensive Program, has been shown to increase your child’s learning and skill development.
Each intensive program runs for 5 days, with lessons available from 3.15pm to 7.15pm. Swimmers will attend the same class for all 5 days of the program.
Dates: 16-20 Dec, 13-17 Jan, 20-24 Jan.

Greg Chamberlain: Shaping Health and Wellness at Stellar Canberra
What do you find most rewarding about managing our health and wellness facilities?
The most rewarding aspect of the role is knowing the impact you make in people’s lives. I am hugely passionate about the fitness industry and the role it plays in helping people manage their physical and mental health.
What makes our health and wellness facilities unique?
We are a class leader in the Canberra fitness community and are committed to staying at the leading edge. This means constantly reinvesting in our gyms to ensure we provide the highest quality facilities and standard of service.
What success stories have you seen from members using our services?
My proudest moment was helping a member reverse the effects of osteoporosis. We implemented a progressive strength program over several years. By the end, reports showed an increase in density in her spine and it was no longer osteoporotic!
From Argentina to Canberra Southern Cross Club - Meet Juan!
Juan has travelled all the way from Argentina to take charge of our Parrilla Grill as we prepare to open Southbound at Tuggeranong.
What inspired you to become a parrilla chef?
When you are born in Argentina you don’t get to choose whether you become a parrilla chef or not, it’s something you experience almost every Sunday, birthday and special occasion, it’s like a tradition. I think you should make your passion your profession and being a chef, it’s mine.
What can we expect from the parrilla experience at Southbound?
You should expect a little piece of Argentina. We’ll bring the greatest flavours from my country to re-create the experience of entering an Argentinian parrilla place.
What do you like to do outside of work?
When I’m off work, I always enjoy a great match of soccer (or fútbol as we call it back home).
