Carbon filtration is the most effective and proven method for reducing chlorine, chloramines, and contaminants, including heavy metals like lead and mercury, pesticides, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), trihalomethanes (THMs), toxic organics, phenols and tannins. In addition to health concerns, chlorine, chloramines and organic compounds can negatively affect water’s taste and odor.
AQUAFINE® Granular Activated Coconut Shell Carbon (TO filters):
A high activity granular activated carbon manufactured by steam activation from select coconut shell charcoal. Its large micropore volume makes it particularly well-suited for the removal of chlorinated by-products such as chloroform and other trihalomethanes (THMs). An important feature of this material is its superior mechanical hardness and the extensive dedusting during its manufacture ensures an exceptionally clean activated carbon product.

Hydrotech chemical-free iron filtration systems are engineered to reduce iron, sediment, and related contaminants without the use of chemicals or salt. Using proven oxidation and filtration processes, the BIF, BAF, and AIO systems deliver reliable performance across a wide range of well water conditions. Each system is designed to address specific iron challenges while providing consistent, low-maintenance operation.
Engineered for demanding iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide applications without the use of chemicals, BIF and BAF systems use a proven air oxidation process followed by catalytic filtration for dependable contaminant reduction.
Natural Oxidation: Reduces iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) without chemicals, air pumps or a venturi.
High Flow Rates: True 1” porting
Efficient Regeneration: The BIF and BAF regenerates less frequently and uses up to 50% less water than single-tank iron filters. Periodic automatic regeneration replenishes the supply of air and removes iron from the media bed.
See product specification sheet for important notes about peak flow rate limitations and feed water requirements.

The AIO’s space-saving design uses a unique process to create an air bubble at the upper portion of the tank to oxidize ferrous iron prior to being filtered by the media. It can also be used to remove low concentrations of dissolved hydrogen sulfide and manganese.
