Canadian Stage shares our work on four stages spread across our great city. The St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and the Berkeley Street Theatre Complex bookend the vibrant St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood and run along what was once the shore of Lake Ontario. Our beautiful High Park Amphitheatre is nestled within the grassy hills and forests of our city’s most beloved park. And the Winter Garden Theatre is located in the heart of Toronto’s bustling downtown core. Canadian Stage is grateful to be able to tell our stories on this bountiful land that we all share.
This sacred land has held story for thousands of years: stories that live in the fabric of who we are as a nation. Canadian Stage would like to acknowledge and thank the original caretakers and knowledge keepers of this territory: the Anishinaabe Nations (including the Mississaugas of the Credit), the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Wendat and Métis Nations. We give thanks to the Nations recorded and unrecorded, acknowledged and unacknowledged, who also share the responsibility for this territory. We honour the Dish With One Spoon Treaty and our responsibility to peaceably share and care for the resources that surround us. We are honoured to be in this meeting place called Tkaronto that many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people from across Turtle Island call home.
A Note from Canadian Stage
Welcome to Robin Hood and to our holiday Panto. We are so glad you are here to share in this joyful celebration of theatre, laughter, and community.
When Ross Petty entrusted Canadian Stage with his legendary Panto after a remarkable 25-year run, we felt both honoured and inspired. Last year’s Wizard of Oz began a new chapter, and now, in our second season, we continue to carry that torch with gratitude and delight.
In a city brimming with ways to celebrate the holidays, the Panto is something beautifully unique. It is a rare experience where generations gather together, where children can cheer (and boo!), parents can laugh (and wink!), and everyone feels the thrill of being part of the story. Each year, we reinvent a classic tale with a modern twist, filled with music, dancing, and the familiar spirit of Toronto itself. Theatre reminds us that joy grows when it is shared. Every cheer and every laugh helps turn this performance into something larger than a show – it’s a celebration. We are connected not only to the story, but to one another, and the theatre becomes a place where our whole city can feel a little closer.
Thank you for being part of this celebration. We hope the Panto finds a place in your family’s holiday tradition. We will reveal next year’s Panto in the coming months, and we cannot wait to welcome you back to the theatre once again.

Oh, yes we are!
Proud sponsor, again, of the panto.
Director’s Note
Mary Francis Moore
Welcome to Roncesvalleshire — and our gloriously over-the-top, version of the Robin Hood legend!
This holiday season, Canadian Stage brings audiences together for a celebration of laughter, music, and community. Playwright Matt Murray has taken the timeless tale of Robin Hood and given it the full panto treatment: big-hearted, joy-filled, and unapologetically silly in all the best ways.
What I love most about this story is its heart. Robin Hood reminds us that generosity, courage, and a good dose of mischief can make the world a kinder place. In a moment when we all crave connection and laughter, it feels just right to gather and tell a story about people who stand up for each other — with music, magic, and more than a few surprises along the way.
Our extraordinary cast, creatives and team at Canadian Stage have built a Roncesvalleshire full of spirit, wit, and warmth — a world where friendship wins the day, and even Prince John might learn a thing or two about sharing.
Thank you to Brendan, Monica and Ross for welcoming us into the panto family and to you for joining us to celebrate the joy of panto — a uniquely communal kind of theatre where you are as much a part of the story as those on stage.
Happy holidays.
