Dear Residents,
As the days grow longer and the cherry blossoms begin to bloom across the city, I want to take a moment to say congratulations on completing another academic year! You’ve made it through the late-night study sessions, deadlines, and the ups and downs that come with student life and you should be incredibly proud of yourselves.
A special shoutout to the Class of 2025 your time here has been nothing short of inspiring. Whether you’re heading into the next chapter of your education, beginning your career, or taking a well-deserved break, I want to wish you all the very best. Your presence in our community has made a lasting impact, and we’re excited to see all that you’ll accomplish.

Start early! Many summer jobs are posted between February and April, but positions often continue popping up throughout the season.
Use student-focused job boards: TalentEgg.ca
Youth Opportunities Ontario CharityVillage (great for non-profit roles)
Indeed and LinkedIn – filter for “temporary” or “summer” positions. Check your school’s career portal for oncampus jobs or summer placements. Don’t be afraid to go local! Walk into neighborhood businesses and ask if they’re hiring — especially cafes, retail shops, and summer camps. Polish your resume and tailor it to each job. Highlight any experience — customer service, design, event planning, or community involvement all count!
Best Places to Check:
Volunteer Toronto (volunteertoronto.ca)
– Huge listing of opportunities by age, area, and interest.
Toronto Public Library
Local arts festivals (e.g., Luminato, Fringe, Inside Out) – Always need help in summer!
Creative-Focused Volunteer Gigs:
Reach out to non-profits or community arts centers like Sketch Toronto, VIBE Arts, ArtStarts.
Volunteer to help with social media, design posters, or document events. Keep in Mind:
Volunteering strategically in your field (animation, design, media, youth engagement) can double as portfolio building.
Network where you are. Attend community events, fairs, or industry mixers. Even casual conversations can lead to leads!
Use your school’s co-op office or career centre for help finding placements and prepping applications. Cold-email organizations you admire — let them know what you can offer and ask about any openings.
Keep your LinkedIn and portfolio updated and visible — consider adding a banner like “Open to Summer Internships” to catch employers’ eyes.
Follow up on your applications — it shows initiative! Keep a simple spreadsheet to track your applications, deadlines, and interviews. Say yes to growth! Every experience counts — even if it’s outside your main field, you never know what skills or connections you’ll gain.
