LIGHTNING SAFETY TIPS
Lightning can strike far from a storm and is extremely dangerous. It can travel through water, metal, and electrical systems, even without a direct hit
If you hear thunder, go indoors right away and stay there for at least 30 minutes after the last rumble
If you're outside:
Get to shelter immediately avoid open areas and high ground
Stay away from water and metal objects
Don't stand under trees
If you're caught outside, crouch low don't lie down
Spread out if you're in a group
If you're indoors:
Avoid using plumbing and electronics
Stay away from windows and doors
Stay alert and take storms seriously to keep yourself and others safe.

Canada Cartage has once again been named a Top Fleet Employer by Trucking HR Canada, marking our 11th consecutive year receiving this recognition.
The Top Fleet Employers program highlights companies across Canada's trucking and logistics industry that go above and beyond in supporting their people. Organizations are evaluated on factors such as workplace culture, employee engagement, training and development, hiring practices, compensation, sustainability, and community involvement Employee feedback is also part of the review process.

TRUE NORTH ABOVE AND BEYOND WINNERS
The True North program recognizes company drivers and staff demonstrating outstanding customer service, teamwork, and core values. The program encourages managers, supervisors, and co-workers to acknowledge employees with specially designed recognition cards and certificates.
Quarterly, a team in each region (B.C., Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec) reviews all submissions and looks for our staff's exemplary actions. Those who have gone "Above and Beyond" will receive a $50.00 gift certificate. There are multiple awards per region each quarter.

Greg Elliott, Company Driver, Edmonton, AB
Greg helped a stranded motorist in -40°C conditions south of Fort McMurray by taking them into his truck to stay warm while they waited for the RCMP.
Greg Lawson, Company Driver, Oshawa, ON
Greg stopped amid heavy traffic on a busy highway to help move a stalled vehicle to a safer location amid hazardous conditions and multiple accidents.
Joe Peebles, Company Driver, Oshawa, ON
Joe regularly shares his knowledge with drivers and dispatchers on his own time and has maintained strong attendance and reliability over nearly seven years
Liz Wright, Safety & Compliance Supervisor, London, ON
Liz came upon a multi-vehicle collision in whiteout conditions on Highway 23 in Southwestern Ontario, warned approaching traffic, called 911, and assisted an injured driver until emergency services arrived.
Stuart Warren, Team Leader, CommerceLink Logistics, Sicamous, B.C.
When one of his drivers was seriously injured in a Highway 1 accident and hospitalized in Calgary, Stuart supported both the driver and family, coordinated arrangements, and personally ensured the driver's safe return home from Kelowna airport.
Vern Morrissette, Company Driver, Winnipeg, MB
Vern responded immediately to a medical emergency involving a colleague, helping manage the situation calmly and professionally.

President's Award
In January of each year, the True North team, along with the executive team, reviews all quarterly Above and Beyond winners from the prior year Three winners are selected for the annual President's Award The winners receive a monetary award, along with a plaque and a personalized letter from President Scott Lane.
First Place: $5,000 + plaque + congratulatory letter
Second Place: $2,500 + plaque + congratulatory letter
Third Place: $1,000 + plaque + congratulatory letter

JETCO MARKS 50 YEARS WITH COMPANY-WIDE CELEBRATION
Jetco employees from across the region came together for a long-awaited full team celebration, marking 50 years of delivering safe, exceptional trucking and logistics services.
Colleagues from Houston, Dallas, and Pasadena, including office staff, professional drivers, and warehouse and shop teams, along with their families, gathered at the Houston Zoo for a day focused on connection, recognition, and the future.
The event began with a recommitment to Jetco’s core values, led by Vice President of Safety Jeff McKinney, who emphasized that safety remains the foundation of everything the company does
Jetco President Kyle Kristynik followed with a “state of the union” address, sharing insights on evolving market conditions and outlining continued investment in equipment, technology, and people.
A highlight of the day was recognizing employee contributions. Kristynik presented the newly renamed Mauris Mattern Longevity Awards, honouring one of Jetco’s founders, as well as the Extra Mile Awards, which celebrate employees who go above and beyond, as voted by their peers.
The celebration also provided an opportunity for employees and their families to enjoy lunch, explore the zoo, and reconnect. The event served as a meaningful reminder that Jetco’s success is driven by the dedication and commitment of its people across the entire organization.

At Canada Cartage, we're proud to come together in support of the fight agai cancer. This year, we're once again participating in The Princess Margaret to Conquer Cancer, taking place June 13 to 14, 2026.
This inspiring event brings cyclists of all levels together to ride from Toronto t Niagara Falls, raising funds for life-saving cancer research. As an official partner Canada Cartage also supports the ride by transporting bikes back to Toronto after the event, continuing a long-standing tradition.

WELLNESS CORNER
MAY IS SUN AWARENESS MONTH
Skin cancer is the most common cancer, but it's also one of the most preventable In Canada, about 1 in 48 people will develop melanoma in their lifetime Catching it early makes a big difference, so regular skin checks are important.
Watch for changes like:
A sore that doesn't heal
Moles that change, bleed, or crust
New growths, red patches, or unusual lumps
Protect your skin:
Use broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
Apply daily from spring through fall and even in winter
Limit sun exposure during peak hours (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
A few simple habits can go a long way in protecting your skin.
GET CONNECTED STAYING SAFE: CANADA REVENUE AGENCY SCAMS
With tax season wrapped up, scammers continue to impersonate the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), using phone calls, emails, and text messages to trick Canadians into sharing personal or financial information
These scams often create a sense of urgency. You may be told you owe money and must pay immediately to avoid penalties, or that you're entitled to a refund and need to "confirm" your details. In some cases, messages may appear legitimate, using official logos or spoofed phone numbers. There are clear warning signs to watch for The CRA will never threaten arrest or demand immediate payment using gift cards, e-transfers, or cryptocurrency. Be cautious of unsolicited messages that ask for sensitive information or direct you to unfamiliar links or attachments.
The CRA primarily communicates through secure online accounts, mail, or, in some cases, phone calls—but they will not pressure you to act immediately. If you're unsure, verify the request directly through official CRA channels. If you receive a suspicious message, do not respond, click links, or provide information. If you believe you've been targeted, contact your financial institution right away and report the incident.
Stay alert. Protect yourself and others by verifying suspicious messages and reporting scams right away.

We're looking for an AZ Driver in both Ajax and Cornwall, Ontario, to join our team. In these roles, you'll handle local deliveries, complete inspections, secure loads, and stay in close contact with dispatch and customers. You'll need to be comfortable driving in all conditions and navigating tight spaces. Multiple shifts available, including evenings, overnights, and weekends.
AZ Driver
Oshawa, Ontario
We’re looking for a full-time AZ Driver to join our Oshawa team, working Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays. In this role, you’ll safely operate a commercial vehicle to deliver freight on schedule, complete inspections, coordinate loading and unloading, secure cargo, and ensure accurate documentation. You’ll stay in close contact with dispatch and follow all safety and traffic regulations to keep deliveries efficient and on time.
