Operations Manager Mark Jenkin, for our Spray Lakes account in Alberta, took this photo of our truck and driver hauling a full load in a winter wonderland.

IT ALL BEGINS WITH SAFETY

WAREHOUSE AND LOADING DOCK SAFETY People working in warehouses and on loading docks face many risks. Being careful and aware of what's happening around you is important. This is especially true when operating near people driving forklifts or using other equipment to move things around. Here are some key safety tips for these kinds of jobs: Keep the warehouse floors clean, dry, and in good shape. Ensure things are stored safely, throw away garbage, and clean up spills quickly. To avoid falling, walk, don't run. Don't play around. Stay away from the edges of the docks and wear strong, non-slip shoes. When working with trucks, block the wheels to stop them from moving. Be careful of carbon monoxide (a harmful gas), and load and unload things safely. Be careful when lifting and using forklifts, hand trucks, or pallet jacks. If you need help, ask for it. Pay attention to other vehicles, people, and objects around you. Don't get distracted. Let forklifts go first, and wear the proper safety gear.
