THE BADAD PAVILION
This Pavilion is designed to portray the aspect of isolation. The word “BADAD” is a Hebrew word that means “TO WITHDRAW, BE SEPARATE, BE ISOLATED,” which is what this pavilion is trying to accomplish. The site chosen is set off from the main area of the small mountain, thus causing the pavilion to emphasize the isolation of this site. The pavilion condenses and converges into a specific point where a person must pass through a tight gap to get to the peaceful and isolating portion of the site. The mountain has an aligning feature between a cross, flag, and this site where a straight line can be drawn going through all three. With this idea, the main wall of the pavilion is positioned to align to the cross and the flag.
