Being a real estate agent and Schumacher Place resident, I take special

2019 YEAR IN REVIEW 2019 was a good year for the local real estate market and economy. Interest rates slightly decreased and then stabilized. Most neighborhoods saw an increase in key metrics - dollar per square foot, average sale price and median sale price. The overall state of the market remained a Sellers Market across most price segments as we have seen over the past several years.

Interest rates remained low and even decreased from the 2018 average. In the second quarter, the average 30-year fixed mortgage dipped below 4%, which we had not seen since 2016-17. This allowed buyers to pick up a little more purchasing power and created a very competitive market among buyers in the entry level and middle price segments.

With rates continuing to be low, 2020 could be a good year to buy, especially if you are looking to move up into a higher price point where it’s less of a Seller’s Market.

Low interest rates combined with the stable Central Ohio economy saw an increase in property values from 2018.

German Village and all adjacent neighborhoods saw between a 4.5% and 5.5% increase in average price per square foot, average sale price and median sale price.

We expect this to continue through 2020, especially for properties with updated kitchen and baths.

ABOUT SETH Seth specializes in working with those relocating around the north arc suburbs, the luxury home market, and downtown neighborhoods where he calls Merion Village home. His interest in residential real estate comes from spending time touring
