Fourteen community-minded individuals and friends of the Family Violence Action Society have been busy. Each has been attempting to raise impressive sums of money in a venture called Take No Bull. This fund-raising campaign, with a goal of raising $20,000, is to assist with much needed financial aid to offset fall programming costs. Take No Bull will help ensure group and individual counselling services are available locally for children, women and men affected by family violence. The ten individuals who raise the most money will each earn one contest entry for each $100 they raise. Up for grabs for the ten finalists, by way of random draw, is a novel prize, indeed. The winner, to be chosen on July 26, will have the honor of riding Wild West Willie, a 2800 pound Brahmacross steer, as Parade Marshall, in the August 1 Big Valley Jamboree Parade. The fourteen contestants are: Damien Brown, Deputy Chief Lee Foreman, Samara Froland, Reeve Don Gregorwich, Peter Holliday, Lynne Kennedy, Fire Chief Peter Krich, Ron MacInnis, Councillor Ray McIsaac, Shelley Moch, Randal Nickel, Trent Reinke, Jan Turnbull and Holly Weiler. Visit www.camrosefcss.ca to donate in the name of your favourite contestant. Be sure to donate before July 26!
