What a weekend it’s going to be at the century-old Bailey Theatre! February 17, 18 and 19 will be your golden opportunity to enjoy as many as nine first-rate films from seven different countries, including the premiere of Sacred Cinema! Edmonton filmmaker Mark Power will be on hand to meet and greet the expected large crowd interested in his new release which will be unveiled on Friday, February 17 at 8:30 pm after cocktails and opening ceremonies.
Nordlys Film and Arts Festival which will be celebrating its first year at the Bailey Theatre, promises to be bigger and better than ever for 2012. For ten years, Verlyn and Mardell Olson hosted this popular festival at their Armena acreage. For the past two years, the weekend of films – drama, documentary and comedy, and compelling music by local musicians, was held at the Augustana Faculty of the University of Alberta. “We want our audience to feel at home and look forward to seeing lots of new faces in the crowd this year”, notes Nordlys committee president Hans Olson. “It will be a treat to screen films in such a beautiful, historic theatre.” At just $50 for a Weekend Pass (on sale now), which includes a Saturday evening concert, Nordlys offers great value for a weekend of entertainment. Single day and single film passes are also available. For more information refer to www.nordlysfestival.com
