Healthier You A new academic year has begun, and there’s no better time to hit the refresh button on embracing a better lifestyle — especially when it comes to healthy eating! Columbia is full of one-of-a-kind, flavorful places good for the palate, body, and brain.

Nourish Café & Market 1201 E. Broadway, Ste. B

Stress Less About Healthy Eating

Looking for a cool place to savor a healthy bite? Visit Nourish and enjoy a wonderful menu of organic, locally sourced ingredients in dishes free of gluten, soy, corn, and refined sugar. Breakfast and lunch are served all day, and customers will like the variety of beverage options, as well. Order the Acai Berry Bowl smoothie to kick off your morning or in the afternoon for the perfect pick-me-up — acai, berries, banana, and fresh-squeezed orange juice topped with grain-free granola and sliced banana. The Turkey Reuben Melt is a must-try: turkey, sauerkraut, cheese, and house-made cashew Thousand Island dressing on house-made bread. And their raw vegan desserts? Divine!

Main Squeeze

28 S. Ninth St.

The Main Squeeze is another great place dedicated to offering a healthconscious menu of locally sourced, clean, organic foods. If it can be made from scratch “like your momma would,” then that’s the goal to ensure high-quality fare — salsa, enchilada sauce, hummus, seasoned beans, salad dressings, sauces, and soup stock are all made in-house. Breakfast is served all day, and customers

Good Eats for Body and Brain

also will enjoy a variety of salads, soups, wraps, sandwiches, bowls, juices, and fruit smoothies. To quench your thirst, try the Ring of Fire, which is a refreshing mix of apple, orange, beet, and ginger. Vegans will love the Notorious B.L.T. made with tempeh bacon, avocado, tomato, onion, sprouts, and mayo on sourdough. 4

Discover

Columbia The fall semester has arrived, and that means cooler weather is on the way to enjoy outdoor activities! Whether you’re new to Columbia or have called this great city home for years, here are a couple of things to do for fun.

Game Day at Memorial Stadium When college football season rolls around, there’s nothing like catching a game at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field to cheer on the Tigers! The stadium opened in 1926 and has been the proud home of championship teams and legions of devoted fans who fill the arena to the brim, which can seat more than 71,000 people. Tickets are coveted, but if you’re a student at the University of Missouri, chances are you can snag a seat — and don’t forget to include some tailgating fun!

For more details, visit mutigers.com.

Up Fore a Challenge? Legendary golfer Greg Norman said, “Happiness is a long walk with a putter.” When the weather is stellar, how about a round of happiness with friends? Columbia has a number of courses for you to enjoy, including the A.L. Gustin, Jr. Golf Course, which is affiliated with the University of Missouri and offers 18 holes, a clubhouse, a putting green, and a driving range. It’s also the first college golf course in the U.S. to be certified by Audubon International — that means being surrounded by a scenic natural habitat, which adds to the outdoor sports experience even more.
