During the summer, week-long, inclusive summer camps serve children ages 7-17 from diverse backgrounds. Our inclusion model places special emphasis on neurodiverse youth, military youth, and young people from underserved communities. Camp Southern Ground is so much more than just a week away from home; for many of our campers this is a life-changing adventure.
For veterans, our commitment extends year-round with three tailored programs. Warrior Week serves as a cornerstone in their
transition from military to civilian life, while Warrior PATHH (Progressive and Alternative Training Helping Heroes) guides combat veterans through post-traumatic growth with compassion and expertise. Our newest initiative, Warrior Family Camp, strengthens the bonds within military families, recognizing and addressing their unique challenges. At Camp Southern

The demand for our Warrior Programs is undeniable, with Warrior PATHH experiencing unprecedented growth.
Camp Southern Ground’s mission is to provide extraordinary experiences for individuals to recognize and magnify unique gifts within themselves and others to profoundly impact the world.

To meet this need and expand our impact, we envision Warrior Village—a new facility poised to triple our capacity and support more veterans than ever before. With a proposed campaign to master plan completion - we aim to turn this vision into reality, ensuring that no veteran is left behind. An incremental $3, 000, 000 raised will enable a fully enhanced build out.
Since the attacks of September 11, 2001, more than 2.8 million men and women have deployed to war zones around the globe, serving with honor, courage, commitment, loyalty, duty, respect, integrity, and excellence. Yet, the toll of war—both seen and unseen—remains staggering.

OUR WHY: MEET DUSTIN

“I grew up in a trailer park. My mom is a crackhead, and my dad a heroin addict. When I was a kid, my brother tried to sell me heroin. I saw things you could never imagine. I knew that was not the life I wanted for myself, so I joined the Army to escape and married my high school sweetheart. While in the Army, I had a number of near-death experiences. Before I came to Warrior PATHH, I was angry - a ticking time bomb. I spent most of my time isolated from my family, hiding out in the garage. Warrior PATHH saved my life. I learned that while I can’t change the past, I can control my future. With encouragement from a fellow team member, I found faith and now teach Sunday school at my church. I learned that serving others gives me purpose and have started coaching my son’s special needs little league team; he has Down Syndrome. Camp Southern Ground teaches that love is the remedy; that is something that has really stuck with me.”
WARRIOR VILLAGE VISION
Our commitment to veterans nationwide, our partners and Board of Directors is to scale our Warrior PATHH sessions from 12 in 2023 to 27 upon completion of the Warrior Village, ultimately serving 300+ veterans each year through PATHH.
OUR VISION & THE CAPITAL PROJECT

To meet this need and expand our impact, we envision Warrior Village—a new facility poised to more than triple our capacity and support more veterans than ever before. With a proposed campaign to raise $14,000,000, we aim to ensure that no veteran is left behind.
The construction of the Warrior Village will enable Camp Southern Ground to increase delivery of our PATHH services from 12 programs per year to 27 programs per year at a minimum. The forecasted growth in veterans served with the Warrior Village increases from 236 veterans served a year to nearly 800 annually. The Warrior Village will be
constructed with 24 private bedroom suites complete with a study area and a private bathroom. Additionally, this new phase will be home to a larger meeting space, breakout spaces, a yoga/meditation studio and dining areas. The village will serve primarily as programming space for Camp’s high impact Warrior PATHH post-traumatic growth program.
In addition, the Warrior Village increase Summer Camp capacity. It will provide housing to increase in the lodge from 720 per year to allow us to use other spaces for our emerging Counselor-In-Training and Leader-In-Training programs.
Outside of summer camp and veteran programming, with the Village in place, we will increase the availability of the rest of our facility for private meetings, retreats, and other special events. Further diversifying our revenue portfolio and potential, helping our veteran programs remain free of charge.

The words “life-changing” can’t even begin to describe Warrior PATHH. I was angry and sad, slowly drinking myself to death. I avoided relationships, escaped life on social media, and barely slept. I was so afraid to fail, I refused to try, and was on the verge of a second failed marriage, with two kids I never spent time with.
While at PATHH, the concept, “it’s not what’s wrong with you, it’s what happened to you” empowered me to turn my life around. I was apathetic and in denial, now I am seeking out relationships, repairing old ones, limiting social media, enjoying life, and haven’t had a drink in over 30 days. I am committed to setting a good example for my kids – we have even started hiking as a family.
Every aspect of the PATHH program was tough, powerful, and enlightening. Warrior PATHH saved my life.
