Limited Edition CAMP T-Shirt New CAMP gear check! A fabulous group of CAMP alumni have created this limited-edition summer t-shirt (design below) which will be available for purchase through August 2, 2020. All money raised through this third-party event will benefit CAMP’s operations fund. Time is limited so get your orders in before August 2nd! CAMP is a place that is full of firsts! The first time campers swim with friends, ride a horse, canoe down the Guadalupe River, hold a chinchilla in the nature center, or discover a new skill, and so much more. But now...we can officially add to our Book of Firsts the successful first Virtual Summer CAMP in 2020. Watch out world...our campers are taking you by storm and there is no stopping them! What an amazing week everyone had; being deeply reminded of the importance CAMP programs play in so many lives. As the world changes, CAMP continues to change with it to ensure every camper discovers their Maximum Potential!

CAMP Volunteers just “Can’t Stop the Feeling” of Summer! Even though current events have changed how we deliver programs, we continue to think outside the box to provide amazing opportunities for the campers and volunteers alike. CAMP just wrapped up its first ever Virtual Summer Camp week and it was a huge success! Not only did the campers have a blast – our amazing volunteers answered the call to action and put together personalized cards for each camper who participated. We had over thirty CAMP volunteers from all over the state jump at the opportunity to engage with campers and brighten their day. We know our campers enjoyed reading the heartfelt messages – after all, Volunteers are a huge part of creating the magic for our campers. We would like to thank all the awesome volunteers who signed up for this project! The dedication Volunteers give to CAMP certainly helps us continue to strengthen and inspire our community. We have missed seeing everyone in-person this season and cannot wait to all be together again around the CAMPfire!

Texas State Fieldwork Students Made Virtual Summer CAMP Happen! CAMP would like to give a huge shoutout to our three fieldwork students from Texas State University for their hard work on Camp CAMP’s Virtual Summer. Francisca Afangideh, Catera “Cece” Scott, and Marley Moon are all Seniors who are studying the field of Therapeutic Recreation (TR). TR is a profession that utilizes games, activities, and special events to reach individualized goals of special populations. Throughout their Pictured (Left to Right): summer field experience, the students were Fieldwork Preceptor, Jordan Pugh with able to gain valuable hands-on experience Students: Catera “Cece” Scott, Francisca Afangideh, and Marley Moon in planning, facilitating, and adapting activities in a virtual setting. Each of them dedicated time to preparing activities for our campers, modified activities to be inclusive of the campers’ needs, and then lead the activities via a live, virtual platform. With their help, the inaugural Virtual Summer Camp was a success and set the foundation for future virtual programming! We wish you all only the best in your education and future careers. The 12th Annual Starry Night CAMP Gala will be on a whole new platform this year - we are going virtual! Because we could not gather inperson this year, the 2020 Gala will be hosted online. A virtual event allows even more people who love CAMP the option to celebrate together but stay socially distanced depending on comfort level of each guest. Tickets this year have been dramatically reduced to $100 each or you can purchase two for $150. Your ticket is your entry registration to the live event that includes stories of impact, the debut of our new CAMP promotional video, and a live pull of the raffle winner. We may be online this year, but that won’t stop the auction from taking place. Our team is working hard to create amazing auction packages you won’t want to miss! You can begin bidding on items the week prior to the event (Saturday, August 22) and keep bidding against your family and friends through the evening of the Gala (Saturday, August 29). Don’t miss your opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket for $100 and have a 1 in 300 chance to win a $5,000 Visa Gift Card. 2020 Fall Program Update At CAMP, we strive to provide events that exemplify our mission to strengthen and inspire individuals with special needs, and those who care for them, through recreation, respite, and education. During a traditional year, CAMP conducts several programs that meet in-person throughout San Antonio and Center Point, Texas. However, as the nation continues to be affected by COVID-19, we must assess the best and most appropriate strategy for fall programs. The safety of our campers and families remains first and foremost and we will continue to operate from an abundance of caution. The CAMP staff will meet to talk through all procedures and protocols prior to announcing Fall program opportunities. Thanks to the Scouts... Hello Camp CAMP community! Do you know of someone who is looking to complete their Eagle Scout Project or Girl Scout Gold Award? We would love to have y’all complete a project here at CAMP! Recently two Eagle Scout projects were completed at CAMP, making a huge impact. Michelle Bourland led a group in revamping the changing tables in camper cabins, and Ryder Kerr created an accessible Gaga Ball pit. These two projects make a long-term impact on CAMP and how we serve campers and their families. We are very thankful for the fantastic work of these two Eagle Scouts and would love to be part of your journey towards your Eagle Scout or Gold Award.
