All Are Welcome! It’s not everyday that CAMP receives a gift that leaves a lasting legacy. But, in the case of our new welcome sign… we are thrilled to say this is one legacy that will truly be around for generations. In February, we celebrated a new milestone in CAMP’s history as a new sign was unveiled that will serve as a landmark for everyone who arrives at CAMP. This beautiful new sign lets campers, volunteers, and families know they are entering a safe space that is full of hope for adventure, a promise of friendships, and a guarantee of acceptance for who they are as unique and wonderful individuals. This sign tells the community they are truly welcome to be here. Thank you to Kathy and Larry McClaugherty for their thoughtfulness in having this amazing piece created for CAMP. Created out of a beautiful stone bolder, this gift is in memory of Kathy and Larry’s son, Neal, who had a great love for CAMP. Neal spent 10 years as a Camper before his passing in 2010. Now, his legacy lives on as a truly heart-felt welcome to all who come to CAMP.

Get Ready for Adventure! Perhaps this summer at Camp CAMP you’ll need to pack some extra gear for your stay… You’ll definitely need your standard accessories: sunscreen, bug spray, and sunglasses. Maybe you’ll also need a pith helmet, some binoculars, and a mosquito net! Well, okay, those last items are totally optional. All you really need to bring is your spirit for adventure, because we’re getting ready to launch:
2022: The Expedition Edition
Just what is an expedition, you may ask? Here are a couple of definitions found online: An excursion, journey, or voyage made for some specific purpose, such as exploration The group of persons engaged in such an activity What does expedition mean to you? One of the beauties of Camp CAMP is that, in many regards, you get to choose your own adventure! You get to set your own personal goals for each CAMP session. You get to experience the “challenge by choice” philosophy through trying new activities for the first time, by trying to meet or beat your own personal best at a favorite activity, and by truly reaching toward your own maximum potential! As Silvie Mateljan writes, “Life is not a quest. It's a voyage of discovery. An expedition through yourself and life.”

Let the Adventure Begin! As you daydream about what your expedition will look like this summer, we’ve got a surprise to share with you that offers definite promise of adventure… Camp CAMP has a new Giant Swing thanks to the generosity of the Tres Grace Foundation! Campers who accept the challenge will be hoisted up by their cabinmates, and when ready, they will experience the thrills and freedom of swinging high above the trees. Don’t worry, because the Giant Swing was professionally installed and CAMP Staff are being certified in its operation, and all appropriate safety equipment and protocols will be in place!

Summer Applications As we shake off winter and welcome spring, CAMP’s summer applications are in full swing! All of CAMP’s staff have summer on their minds as they process applications, begin hiring, and make programming ideas a reality for a fabulous summer of: “2022: The Expedition Edition!” Everyone who comes to Camp CAMP for a session must have a complete application. Keep in mind that only complete applications are accepted - on a first-come, firstserved basis - until spaces are filled. If any required paperwork or information is missing before a session fills, your application may be placed on the waitlist. Here are a few helpful steps: Camper 1. Online Application 2. Saturday, August 27, 2022 CAMP is thrilled to announce, after 2 years of hosting our annual gala virtually, the 14th Annual CAMP Gala is back in-person at the beautiful San Antonio Country Club, while offering a virtual gala option for our friends and sponsors who are unable to attend this live event. Join us on Saturday, August 27th, as we reconnect, hear inspirational stories shared by our campers, families, and volunteers, and celebrate CAMP’s mission.
Ways to participate: Sponsorships Sponsorships range from $15,000 - $2,500 and include a table for ten, cocktail hour, a delicious three-course meal, as well as various marketing opportunities. Tickets Tickets for an individual seat can be purchased for $250 and include admission to the event, cocktail hour and a delicious three-course meal. Tickets are limited. Donate an Auction Item The CAMP Gala Auction is back and will be better than ever! If you would like to promote your business, please consider donating an item to feature in the auction. Online Auction To ensure no one misses out on the fabulous auction packages featured in the auction, the silent auction will once again be online and open to everyone! Mark your calendars for Friday, August 19th, at Noon, when the auction opens and continues through 8:00 p.m. on August 27th. With your support, CAMP becomes a reality for more than 1,000 campers, their families, teen and adult volunteers, and healthcare professionals whose lives are enriched by CAMP year-round. Taylor Bur ris Taylor is so excited to be a part of the CAMP team! Serving as the Administrative Assistant for the Development team, Taylor will be processing all donations and ensuring everyone is thanked with lots of love from CAMP. Taylor is a San Antonio local on a quest to find the city’s best breakfast tacos. She recently received her Bachelor’s in Writing from Texas Christian University with a dual specialization in Publication & Production and Early Literature & Culture. When she’s not at work, Taylor loves reading science fiction and working in her vegetable garden. She and her husband are newlyweds with one beautiful fur baby named Salsa.
