Registration is now open for CAMPfest in the FALL! Come out to Camp CAMP in Center Point, TX for a FREE fun-filled open house on October 21st from 11 am to 4 pm. “We’re moving CAMPfest to the fall to better serve our CAMP families, volunteers, and friends,” said Executive Director, Susan Osborne. “It will include some traditional CAMP activities, camp tours, Question & Answer sessions, a complimentary lunch, and a Resource Fair - plus
Campers are encouraged to wear family friendly costumes (nothing scary or gory) and collect treats at various locations around CAMP!”

Camp CAMP’s Great American Roadtrip from the Summer of 2017 is now in the rearview mirror as we gear up for our Respite Club School-Year Programs (Respite Weekends, Parents Night Out, and Teen and Adult Day Adventure), yet the memories made on this grand adventure will last a lifetime. You can see a snapshot summarizing all who made this journey possible on the top of the next page, but the smiles you see in the other snapshots do an even better job of telling the story.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this summer a journey to remember: our Volunteer Counselors, Health Care Volunteers, Lead Staff, year-round staff, donors, and most especially our Campers and their families. Together, we are collectively “The CAMP Family.” I am amazed and humbled at how time and time again a group of individuals come together to do this thing we call “Camp CAMP,” and in very short order, these individuals become family. Tim Cahill once mused, “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” Thinking in these terms, although we may not have logged many actual miles on the odometer, the friendships made or rekindled, the laughter that echoed throughout Camp CAMP, and the love shared with friends old and new, took us around the world and back!
Thank you for being part of the CAMP Family, and thank you for making our journey so special this summer. We look forward to making more memories with you and new friends we’ve yet to meet on roads that lie ahead. And whether we see you this year at some of our SchoolYear Programs or next summer, in this family we always look forward to welcoming you home.
Starry Night CAMP The stars came out on September 9th, for the Children’s Association for Maximum Potential’s 9th Annual Starry Night CAMP Gala held at the San Antonio Country Club. The sold out event honored Mrs. Vivian Vance and Ms. Vanessa Vance for their friendship to CAMP, their individual accomplishments, and their commitment to the special
needs community. The program included a presentation to the honorees, a moving testimony by to Dee Evans, CAMP Head
Nurse and Camper Parent, and an exciting Fund the Need Paddle Raiser to support the construction of a new CAMP Health Care Center. CAMP Online Applications Get an Upgrade! In August the online Camper Applications for the 2017-18 Respite Club, CAMP’s school-year programs opened, and the response has been amazing! “We’ve known for a while that our online application system was in need of a upgrade,” said Family Services Program Director Michelle Elble. “So, in the spring of 2017, we asked our families what would best meet their needs for a new online application.”
The top request made by our families is an application that is mobile friendly. After that, families want a system that will automatically save information as it is entered; our old platform would time-out forcing users to re-enter information that had not yet been saved. Finally families said they want to be able to upload documents, eliminating the need to send in documents by “snail mail”. We heard your feedback and are glad to announce that we have launched a
system that does all of this and more! “The challenge we faced when looking at the online application systems available in the camping industry, was to find one that would satisfy our families’ needs for a responsive system, without limiting the amount of information staff could collect in order to keep our Campers safe,” said Elble. CAMP is grateful to the families who took the time to respond to our survey and for letting us know how we can best meet your needs! We look forward to serving more families using this upgraded technology. Volunteer Applications will be available using the new system very soon, making it easier for students and health care professionals to complete their applications on a system that is MOBILE FRIENDLY!
