CAMPS THAT CAMP AT CAMP FOR ALL
LETTER FROM THE
SPRING 2016 schedule
CHAIRMAN LIZ RIGNEY
Until I became involved in CAMP FOR ALL, the term “CAMP brought the obvious words to mind. Summer! Hot days! School's out! Now, thanks to the miracle of CAMP FOR ALL, my vocabulary has broadened to include Winter! Spring! Fall! Camp For All is not just a summer camp that enriches the lives of ALL who attend, but it is also a Camp For ALL seasons. Campers and volunteers can experience the joys of Camp For All, no matter what the time of year. Families can get away for a much needed weekend. Campers reconnect with their summer friends. What better way to spend a cold winter day than climbing the challenge course in Star Place or recording your favorite song in the music studio? Who could resist a horseback ride on a crisp autumn day, the classroom being the furthest from your mind?

CAMPFORJOY!
GETTING WACKY IN JANUARY!
Campers have a SPRING in their Step!
Since 2010 the Epilepsy Foundation Texas, has partnered with Camp For All to host Wacky Winter Weekend for kids and teens with epilepsy and their siblings. We asked Suzanne Thomas, the Camp and Recreation Coordinator for Epilepsy Foundation Texas, to tell us more!
Since 2012, The Joy School, a Houston school for children with learning and language differences, has partnered with Camp For All in March. Sarah Burden, Camp Director and Speech Language Pathologist for The Joy School, tells us more! Favorite Activity:
ROPES Favorite Activity:
ROPES AND ZIP LINE “Campers do something they’ve never done before in a safe environment and gain confidence learning what they can do!” (Epilepsy Foundation)
The Best Thing about Camp:
MAKING AND REUNITING WITH FRIENDS “It is a reunion for campers from last summer and first time campers make new friends that they will see next summer.”
“For our kids who struggle with motor difficulties, anxiety, or self-esteem/self-confidence issues, the experience of challenging themselves in a safe and fun place is empowering.” (The Joy School)
The Best Thing about Camp:
MEANINGFUL REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCES “From preparing for their first overnight trip to waiting in line for meals —everything is a functional life lesson. The camaraderie that occurs is something that no other activity gives us.” (The Joy School)
(Epilepsy Foundation)
Why Camp For All?: Why Camp For All?: “The impact Camp For All has on our campers is immeasurable. It helps to foster independence and provides these children with wonderful experiences and a lifetime of memories”.
“Our time at Camp For All has become one of the most anticipated events of our entire school year. The expertise and compassion of the Camp For All staff towards our students each spring is irreplaceable.”

CAMP CULINARY CHALLENGE ! Camp food favorites: s'mores and mac 'n' cheese — were on the menu at the historic Parador on Binz when the Camp For All Young Professionals hosted the annual Camp Culinary Challenge. Mike’s contribution to Camp For All doesn’t stop there. As an engineer with construction experience, Mike has been invaluable as a volunteer for Camp For All overseeing several large projects over the past four years. The projects include Star Place, Hamill House, and more! And yet he still finds time to attend every Camp For All event from Austin to Houston!
Guests Flock to the
BirdShooters
On October 15th, guests Honoring Lana and Charlie McDaniel flocked to the Fireman’s Training Center in Brenham for the camo-cool event of the season. Guests stalked the silent auction to get the best deals, but no hunting was required for a delicious quail dinner. Co-Chairs Cathy Cameron and Betsy Streigler hit their mark by raising $246,000 to help bring campers to Camp For All!
