During his more than thirty-year career, this artist has passionately followed an everchanging, organic flow of artistic expression as it has moved through a series of mediums and forms. Many of his striking pieces are featured in major collections, including those of HRH Prince Consort Henrik of Denmark, Paul Stanley of KISS, Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, James Wood and Madonna.

Local artist, Katherine Houston has devoted much of the past 15 years to studying and producing art. Houston has studied at the University of Houston, Glassell School of Art and The Art League. She also studied privately with a number of renowned artists, such as Will Clem, Ruth Munson, Polly Liu, Gary Hernandez, and Quang Ho. Houston has worked with a number of mediums, grounds and styles of painting. She explores abstract and bold scenery as motifs to describe the idea or infinite space. Currently she is participating in a number of art exhibits and galleries in the Houston area and Chicago. Houston’s work is held by a number of collectors both private and public.

Well known for his reverse glass paintings inspired by natural elements, Christopher Martin reveals a strong connection to nature that translates beautifully into abstract form. Though his technique traces back to the 14th century, Christopher Martin’s approach to "Verre Églomisé" is entirely modern. He captures abstractions inspired by wood grain, the cosmos, sun, sea, or even ski tracks—magnificently—all while painting “in reverse" on acrylic panels.

His art is represented by combinations of lines and light backgrounds which the artist associates with the idea of the canvas being a sketchpad. This method of drawing on a flat plane allows the drawn line to play a pivotal role within the work. In his words, “I like to think of my work as being more of a spontaneous visual diary; a sketch as opposed to a painting.”
Tony Magar’s deeply moving and expressive abstracts are known to provoke emotion and passion among his viewers. Meredith Pardue finds artistic inspiration in positioning our human lives against the grand scale of the universe itself. She explores the magnitude of such juxtaposition by examining images of gorgeous nebulae and clouds of interstellar dust. She was originally struck by their beauty and majesty, and then by their aesthetic similarities to some life forms on Earth. Some of the nebulae are translucent disc shapes with brilliant color reminiscent of microorganisms, flower petals, or certain ocean life.

As an artist, Karen Hawkin’s goal is to transform how a book functions outside of its uncompromising construction and reinterpret it as new and visually meaningful.
