A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR 2020 DONORS AND VOLUNTEERS Camp Blue Skies may not have had in-person camps in 2020, but we succeeded in staying connected to our community of adults with developmental disabilities and our volunteers. With guidance from the Board of Directors, the team found ways to connect virtually and safely during a global pandemic. However, none of these accomplishments would have been possible without YOU. Your gifts of money, time, and wisdom helped make possible two Virtual Camps, mask mailings, inspiring videos, and small-group Zoom chats. We, along with our campers and volunteers, are grateful for your kindness and support. In March, we’ll once again host a Virtual Camp due to continued health concerns and the slow rollout of the vaccines. We hope to be able to gather safely for in-person camps and fundraising events this fall. FUNDRAISERS & EVENTS In 2020, our annual Hoops for Camp N CAA Bracket Challenge fundraiser was ramping up when the tourney was abruptly cancelled. We offered to refund donations to participants, but not a single person requested a refund. Thanks to their generosity, the $2,000 collected went toward the cost of the Spring 2020 Virtual Camp. The Hoops fundraiser will return (fingers crossed) on March 14. Watch your inbox for updates.
During our inaugural Steps for Camp fundraiser in October, together, we walked 5,711,396 steps and raised $19,631. The 10-day "count your steps" challenge — with participants from coast -to-coast — was the first opportunity for everyone in our camp community to come together for a single event.
