Breathing is the Foundation of Everything

The first thing to do at birth is to breathe if not there is no life and when a person starts in the martial art it is said that he was born in that martial art whatever it is only that there is a guide who tells us to take the position of attention and concentrate breathing to the lower abdomen. Then they tell us that we have to bow or salute and they show us how to do it and say that it is to show respect to the teacher. Well, that lesson not only tells us that respect is given to the teacher and what that lesson tells us psychologically that we should respect the elders, that is, our parents, but also the authority well that's another theme.

It is said that in the martial artist must be able to be fast and strong. This strength is based on training but who says that this training is adequate for health? The truth I think is that after this training works it is supposed to be the correct one but despite the fact that the human body gets used to everything of course, but is it really good for health?

The martial art is made to make a person better as a human being, that is why it is known that this training or learning must develop the patience of this person who practices the martial art which will form his character.

Speaking of patience which is the art of waiting, it is developed through meditation. In martial art class is supposed to start and end with a meditation session but what is good meditation? It is supposed to relaxing the body and clearing the mind. Preparing one to start the class and be able to concentrate on what is going to be done. Well not really since it's to regulate your breathing. Here you learn that one should focus on is the use of your breath calmly filling up to below the navel and that area of the body in martial arts has a name but let's not go into the terminology and let's say it is a place the internal energy is saved at. This energy has a name and it depends on where that martial art is from and that internal energy is known as in KungFu it is Chi and in Japanese and Korean methods it is called Ki. This Ki must be concentrated in the DanJon and the breath must go down to below the navel were DanJon is at so the air when inhaling, it must enter through the nose and exit through the mouth if you are doing martial activity and when not then inhale and exhale should be through the nose. Likewise, it is said that there are times when the weather changes and if you have low defenses you can get sick or get an allergy reaction to that change of weather, so when you leave a hot place to enter a cold one or vice versa so the best thing to do

This is the base position to do Dan Jeon Ho Hup Bop or Breathing exercises for the development of Ki or Vital Energy in HapKiDo.

This is the first one and it is about Attracting the Energy of Heaven to Me

to avoid discomfort in your health from the place you leave be it from the outside and enter a place that will have a different temperature you should fill your lung through the nose and just as the transition begins exhale and this change will not affect you much.

The important thing is strengthening your internal energy, that is your Ki. The best way is by meditating but you can also do it in the way that HapKiDo does it and that is in a dynamic way by using the 'theory of breathing based on the balloon' that is if the movement goes up then inhale and if it goes down exhale so if it leaves or moves away from you to exhale and if it approaches or comes towards you to inhale so that the correct development of Ki helps your immune system and when this happens it strengthen your defenses.

This type of exercise is called DanJon Ho-Hup Bop or Dan Jon (it is Jeon but it sounds like Jon in English or Yon in Spanish) it is the boiler so Ho Hup is a breathing method and Bop is technique and I will show the 4 basic exercises for this but I will say the symbolic names here: The first is forward or ´Draw the Energy of the Sky Towards Me´ The second is downwards and is to ´Draw the Energy of the Earth towards Me´ The third is towards the sides and is ´The Development of Internal Energy´ and The fourth is upwards is ´The Development of External Energy´. These special exercises should be done before the class begins rather than right after the class has opened. Now you know why this martial art has Ki in its name. I am HapKiDo teacher now for 45 years in the country of Panama and I am thankful that things have been doing well in this new project expanding internationally this HapKiDo with the style of Song Moo Kwan founded by my teacher KwanjangNim Park, Song-IL 9th Dan Black Belt who has allowed me to do this job as the Technical Director for the International Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo Federation. I am SabomNim Ramon Navarro 6h Dan Black Belt and member to the Korea HapKiDo Federation too. I had an international seminar last February and it was very successful that a group that liked what I thought in the seminar asked me to teach them and I am teaching them virtually three days a week and I am inviting you to become part of this family and project so try our path ad to do that you can call me or write me at the WhatsApp +507 67808222 clear you mind.

This is the second one and it is about Attracting the Energy of the Earth towards me

This is the third one and it is about Developing External Energy

This is the fourth and it is about Developing Internal Energy
