Martial Behavior

This Pandemic crisis does not want to leave us alone and I hope we all continue to take care of ourselves and I hope no one else is affected by it.

What do I mean by martial behavior, that martial art includes many things from learning through personal experience plus what has been learned.

The first thing is respect as part of tradition. One must respect those of higher rank, that is, from the top down like this: the teacher, the teacher's teacher. To those of higher rank than one as to those who have my own rank as to those of lower rank. As well as respect for those who are from other arts or do not train in martial art. Values are a formation that comes from home more than from another place but if the person is closedminded or a negative person, it is for no use that they have been taught the best possible ethics or education. I believe that everything is in learning from a good base guided by a good example or whatever good ethics or morals are.

The person or the martial student needs a good base, based on good ethics and good moral since a person who does not have good honesty cannot be an integral person. In martial art, the lineage that is thought in the house is important. In addition to the father of the family, maintaining respect towards others on behalf of the grandfather since everything in life is reciprocal. Also, in the martial art is good to have your teacher and meet his teacher’s teacher and know your lineage.

Everything is based on ethics and morals. This is so since let's say that the first teacher taught good roots, a good base with principles of good example and treatment to others. This is given in growth and expansion. In this way you can form an organization. Of course, everything starts from a teacher who teaches a person let's call him a student, who decides to share this knowledge with other people and what happens is that this student starts a school, let's call this a house. Speaking of home, there is a surname and this student to whom he teaches also transmits the good example and good behavior so that one of his students also places an academy or school and the main teacher forms an association and it is possible to keep this house together to control the teaching curriculum for the generations to come so as not to say they deviate the path.

So, from one school that is transformed into several and these for the moment will be manage to expand this knowledge so over time and this growth can be a bit complicated whether it is controlled let's say, by the grandfather or the dad to say and his brothers still control the way of teaching by making a federation that will be needed to control this expansion. The best way to grow is based on respect, values and tradition. You have to feed it not lose it and it is formed into a tradition. This tradition will become a culture or custom.

Good values and good principles are more important than the number of ranks. Many people want to be the 'I have more rank than you' to the point it might be people that do not have the proper personal security and what they have is low self-esteem and that is why they seek that recognition. Why don't they invent a new martial art instead? It's nice to have you beginning in the martial art with that same first teacher. There are people who want to rise in rank and since they don't get it when they want it they seek to belong in a federation where they can get a new rank and after they achieve that they go to another to do the same. I do not understand but this has a cost, even if it is a very small expense to receive that new degree or rank from a person whom they do not really know from whom they do not learn anything. You give them your money and they only give you a piece of paper and not to say a certificate since this represents what you learned and go to a seminar, sign up with a federation then go to the next activity or seminar on a weekend travel and when return bring a new rank to which they were promoted and traveling for a month they will not learn enough in that time to have learned enough and in a simple trip to return with a new rank.

It's not good to be jumping from one martial art to another and so on. Of course, it is good to find the system that is for you and not be jumping around and really learn correctly. It is something to dedicate time in a martial art in which one has started. Achieving by dedicating themselves for many years and obtain the black belt or more until one day that person becomes a teacher and that should be minimum 4th Dan black belt or more. Becoming a grand teacher being an 8th Dan Black Belt. There are people who group together, even from different martial arts and give rank among themselves. This is not honorable. The honorable thing is not to deceive yourself or less to deceive other people as new students and worse is those who get carried away knowing what this is really about, but prefer without the effort and investment of their time to dedicate themselves obtaining this achievement due to follow the current attitude and it is not productive since those ranks they give themselves do not have true validity.

Okay let's change the subject. In general, each martial art school will belong to an organization or association and this will be part of a federation. If it is a federation with a track record in addition to being a responsible federation and a good example, the student will become black belts and more with true pride. More if that person manages to have a school and the true achievements are not those of having students who are black belts or not. They are to have students whom with effort and dedication of time reach minimum a black belt.

There are different types of martial arts and they come from different regions. Although it is accepted that they are from the east

and the main places are Japan with Karate, although there are other types such as JuDo, Jujutsu, Aikido and Ninjutsu among others, as well as in China with KungFu which are many types of various methods or systems and from Korea with the most known as TaeKwonDo, TangSooDo and HapKiDo among others. However, it can be said that the way to show knowledge is through ranks. As well? All or most schools have what are known as the colored belts and then the black belts. The color belts are several colors and the truth is that the color of the belts philosophically symbolizes something not only that it is a rank and I will use two martial arts, TangSooDo and HapKiDo and mention that they generally have a tendency to sport. Although the truth is that it should not be so.

The colors of the ranks in the MooDukKwan TangSooDo are basically White which mean he is pure and innocent since he knows nothing, yellow which indicates that the student begins to understand what he is learning and in his mind he sees other things in ideas and like a lightbulb is this color, green indicates hope for the student that he has realized that everything is based on dedication and effort and that achievement takes time so like the green leaves of a tree suddenly bear fruit that red is representative in nature but the red belt indicates blood or life and can be dangerous so you have to commit to what you are doing with the best effort and dedication based on respect then as it is in TangSooDo that there is no black belt because it can be said for it to represent death and this indicates there can be no more experiences which is not true and what was use since the beginning is known as Midnight-Blue to be used (equivalent to the Black Belt in other martial arts). This Midnight-Blue is from the first to the third Dan and when it arrives the 4th Dan the color of the belt changes to a little wider and along the black belt there is a red stripe along the belt length that indicates the colors red or life as blood, that is, that knowledge can be dangerous and that you have to be careful and its black portion represents death so in this range as it is known that death is darkness, here it indicates that this knowledge should not be shown unless it is really necessary and the complete set indicates that from this rank upwards in the Dan grade numbers is that: 'this knowledge is a danger and that is why the secret is kept'. So, in this degree or rank that is from the 4th Dan and above the stripes are not used as an indicative to when you are counting so it is not possible to know what rank that person has. Because it does not have stripes in this original color of the belt it is representative of intrigue, that is mysticism and it indicates that only among themselves they do know who is whom…I leave it there.

The Hap Ki Do or HapKiDo should only have 4 colors that go on the Korean flag and they are white, blue, red and black. The colors thus symbolize: white is pure knowledge that the student is acquiring. Blue represents the color of the sky – it must be light blue –that indicates that the blue sky without clouds, everything is clear the red indicates life so due to the danger at this stage is known for the HapKiDoin (there is the Karateka well in HapKiDo there are two expression like the person that is spoken of knowing this art it is called HapKiDoga and when the person that knows this art calls himself he says I am a HapKiDoin) must be careful with this knowledge since it is very dangerous and the black of the Black Belt indicates that this knowledge must be kept hidden since it is worth a lot. It also indicates dedication, loyalty and honorability as a good example are part of this person’s life.

It has always been said and believed that the black belt is the greatest color of belt and it is not true, it can be said that in part it is only the true beginning of the martial art. Since I am talking about this pure self-defense art of HapKiDo and in the black belt upon reaching this it is automatically 1st Dan with one stripe on the belt, two stripes indicate it is a 2nd Dan, the 3rd Dan with three stripes follows the first level rank of Master which is a topic for another time and it is in this rank with four stripes that the black belt as it is known and wrongly said is the highest rank but the black belt in our art of HapKiDo should be like this but I will say to clarify that if any school, organization etc. put the number of stripes that indicates what rank it is that and it is not wrong thought in Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo Association and supported by its International Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo Federation that SabomNim Ramon Navarro guides as the technical director and to conclude that it goes from 4th Dan as first level of Master to the true rank of Master the 5th Dan we remove all stripes so only between us we know who is whom or that it is indicative that this person with the black belt without any stripes is higher in rank than the 4th Dan to know what is the value of that rank is an intrigue Although in these modern times everything is about training in a sport and one should not play sports to what is supposed to is when a student learns HapKiDo it is for mental wellbeing, health as the integrity of the human being and not reaching recognition and not being based on the wrong ego attitude with the idea about competitions that nobody beats me expression that will cause the essential loss of this precious martial art.

HapKiDo is an art with no forms and has many kicks and falls an infinity number of techniques. If it has forms or Kata's or it does not have many kicks or does not have many lock-type techniques, what we call self-defense, which are not making the kick and strike combinations to defend oneself because that is just the combat sense, hitting one's opponent and just because it is not an enemy the martial artist need to be careful in its application, he will be a better person. Against whom has to use their HapKiDo will continue to have HapKiDo even with forms but it will not be a pure Hapkido which is not bad but if they do not focus much on competition and they practice combat in their Academies, this is what is important.

The International Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo Federation that Master or SabomNim Ramon Navarro 6th Dan as the Tecnical Director represents as assitant to Grand Master or KwanjangNim Park, Song IL 9th Dan the founder of the Song Moo HapKiDo system being the father of HapKiDo in the country of Panama heads the main brach and is president of the Panama HapKiDo Association whom through SabomNim Navarro lets know that we are expanding this self defense system of HapKiDo in the American Continent by way of introductory seminars and spetial seminars for instructors to follow the curriculum. We also represent the Korea HapKiDo Federation. For more information Call or write our WhatsApp +50767808222.
