Conceiving the Incomplete City

Bachelor 10th Semester Thesis Project | 2021

This project seeked to address the issue of urban sprawl and housing shortages in Mexico City. With the city’s population growing at an unprecedented rate, there is an urgent need for innovative solutions that can accommodate the needs of the expanding population.

The project focuses on the rehabilitation and redensification of existing low-density housing in select neighborhoods of the city, through the introduction of vertical density. By transforming underutilized spaces into high-density residential areas, the project aims to generate a local reorganization that meets the needs of the community, while also reducing the city’s urban sprawl. By repurposing existing structures and creating vibrant, sustainable communities, this project offers a new model for urban development that can be replicated in other cities around the world.

Ephemeral Architecture: Event and Scenography Design

This marvelous wedding took place in Desierto de los Leones, a forest near Mexico City. For the ceremony, guests sat on pristine white benches lining the mirrored aisle —contoured by hundreds of stunning, bushy arrangements of white hydrangeas and poppies. At the heart of it all stood the altar, a sculptural masterpiece comprised of twelve interwoven tubular structures. These cylindrical forms were skillfully carved to create an oblong void, where the ceremony rituals were officiated.

The concept for the reception was an 18th Century Surrealism Immersion. The idea was to merge the elegance of the past with the vibrancy of the present, creating an experience that was not only a dinner party, but a curated journey of wonder and whimsy by transforming the space into a surreal wonderland.

Dainty halo lights around tree trunks, large crystal chandeliers and foliage-covered domes; guests seated at long vintage-like wooden tables, tall vintage candelabras and stunning floral centerpieces resulted in a vibrant event that blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings where guests were transported to a surreal dance floor with the moon floating above a vivid chess patterned dance floor.

Zayed’s Baptism:

Ephemeral Architecture: Event and Scenography Design

The concept of this project emerged from a desire to immerse guests in an abandoned world. In this realm, people dance among the stars and planets, and the remains of Greek temples and statues extend towards the galaxies. A world where the chaos that the Greeks often mentioned, is recognized as a perfect order.

An event where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blurred. Floating rock halo-like structures in the sky, accompanied by different size planets above the dancefloor; Greek column ruins and a huge standing rock halo as a captivating backdrop for the stage design, created a celestial spectacle that captured the imagination. The surroundings were veiled in a mystical ambiance as dry ice blanketed the scene, shrouding it in an otherworldly fog that enhanced the sense of mystery and awe. The scene was finally completed with sand dunes surrounding the stage, that evoked both the arid landscapes of ancient Greece and the enigmatic allure of the cosmos.

House of Kirschner | Los Cabos, Mexico | 2022

Taking place in the stunning landscape of Los Cabos, Mexico, this remarkable project unfolded within a canyon and by a cliff overlooking the ocean. The vision behind the design was to honor and highlight the natural context of the location by seamlessly integrating thousands of cacti, magnificent sculptural installations and structures, and the surrounding desert environment into the event. At the heart of the ceremony, a specially designed and produced sculptural structure stood as a symbol of love and unity, nestled by the cliff’s edge amidst the awe-inspiring landscape. Transitioning to the reception, the space was adorned with elegant white flowers and centerpieces, while a magnificent cacti ceiling installation stretched across the expanse, serving as a testament to the remarkable artistry of nature. The entire experience immersed guests in the breathtaking beauty of Los Cabos, celebrating the harmonious fusion between the event design and the natural surroundings.

Bagatelle Tulum

Hospitality Architecture: Interior Design

The conceptualization and redesign of the new Bagatelle Restaurant aimed to break away from the conventional Tulum style prevalent throughout the town, resulting in an innovative interior concept that earned the project public recognition. The objective was to create a remarkable and easily identifiable landmark restaurant situated in the heart of the Tulum Hotel Zone, enhancing its visibility and overall appeal.

Embracing a fusion of sophistication and creativity, the restaurant showcases handcrafted pieces meticulously crafted by local artists. One of the standout features is the breathtaking rope and thread installation suspended from the ceiling, serving as a true showstopper that captivates diners from the moment they step foot into the restaurant. This daring and innovative creation pushes the boundaries of conventional design, adding a sense of uniqueness and artistic flair to the space.

Bagatelle Beach Club Tulum

Hospitality Architecture: Interior Design

The concept for the new Bagatelle Beach Club design revolves around an “Elevated Nomad Haven,” going beyond the typical Tulum style. The design embraces a sophisticated and elegant aesthetic in light tones, inspired by the French Riviera. Blending this elegance with a Mexican infusion, the beach club showcases a fusion of cultures. The project features light earthy tones and a blue and orange palette, following the Bagatelle brand standards, art and architecture elements, refined details, and carefully curated Mexican influences. The design seamlessly connects indoor and outdoor spaces, incorporates organic textures and natural materials, and creates a serene atmosphere for visitors to relax and enjoy a luxurious, elevated nomadic experience. Bagatelle will also feature extraordinary lighting and art installations, and specially crafted, designed furniture that will be considered collectible pieces, adding an element of surprise and individuality to the beach club’s interior.

HEIWA

High-End Residential Architecture

House of Kirschner X Book of Wa | Careyes, Mexico | 2023

Heiwa”

(Japanese): “peace” or “harmony”

In Japanese culture, the concept of Heiwa goes beyond just a superficial idea of peace. It is a way of life that emphasizes a deep respect for nature and the interconnectedness of all things. The goal is to find a balance and harmony that allows individuals to live in a state of fulfillment, while also contributing to the well being of the world around them.

The principles of Heiwa have influenced architecture. Traditional Japanese homes are designed to create a sense of harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces, with a focus on natural materials and simplicity. The purpose is to create a living space that is not just aesthetically pleasing, but also promotes a sense of calm and tranquility.

Garden House

High-End Residential Architecture

Brossin Architects | Mexico City | 2021

Amidst nature’s symphony, residents rediscover themselves, finding inspiration and tranquility. This harmonious retreat celebrates the delicate balance between human design and the eternal allure of the natural world, offering a sanctuary of respite and renewal.
