COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA For centuries advances in photographic equipment and techniques have developed, and gave photographers the ability to capture images with shorter exposure times and the making of portraits outside the studio. There are many different techniques for portrait photography. Often it is desirable to capture the subject’s eyes and face in sharp focus while allowing other less important elements to be rendered in a soft focus. When photographing people a photographer needs to find out for him/ herself how to make a subject or model comfortable in front of the camera since people come in all shapes and sizes, and they need to be profoundly interconnected with photographer. This issue features portraits from global photographers in all stages of their careers. These portraits remind us that, it is often the quiet, unfiltered gaze of a fellow human being that makes for the most intense, and the most revelatory, of all pictures. Photography is an art and sometimes there are rules which you can brake to get your best results.

SEAN ARCHER RUSSIA His real name is Stanislav Puchkovsky, and he is from Yekaterinburg, Russia. Sean Archer is an agent from the movie Face Off. Stanislav took the nickname for some experience. Sean thinks of himself as a beginner. First started shooting in 2012, almost accidentally. At first, all his models were his friends. It helps that Sean had finished the architectural academy and knew the graphic edit software. These are very useful skills in modern photography. Sean never shoots in studios with artificial light. All his photos are done with natural light.
Usually, it’s his own apartment and light is from the windows. If you can master that, it’s amazing. It’s soft, warm and great for portraits. Sean learns from his mistakes and is a self learner. Maybe it’s not the best or fastest way. But, for sure, is the most interesting according to Sean.

DAVID HENDRAWAN INDONESIA David Hendrawan born in Surakarta, Central Java, on March 8th 1975. He loved photography since he was a kid. Capturing moment and collect them as his precious memory. His first pocket camera was RICOH XR – 30. He got it when he was in Junior High School. Since then he started taking any kind of photo that caugcht his attention. At early 1990, he got his first film SLR camera, NIKON F 401, that his parents bought for him. Thanks to them, starting that point, he had a chance to learn to become a real photographer.
From that moment, till now, he tries not just taking picture. But to create an image. The real ones that evoke an emotional response from the viewer. That is why he enjoys local communities that have interest in modeling and fashion photography. From the models expression, he can create any connection with that photo. Whether it is love, desire, longing, fear, scared and another thousand of emotions that could be explored with a different kind of color.

As a huge and avid tennis fanatic, I always make sure to book the best seats to watch my favorite tennis players LIVE. It is shown here locally as Malaysia hosts one of the ATP 250 World Tour matches, or even Grand Slams. Also as an avid photographer, it helps to hone my skills in photojournalism, particularly in sports photography. Watching the actions as it happens and freezing the moments with my camera are perfect dosages for satisfaction. But ever since I have been issued with the Camerapixo Press ID CARD, my sporting and shooting experiences were propelled even to greater heights! I can now even get closer to the players during their press conferences, meet-and-greet sessions and be ON the court side to capture their moves as they play. That is much better compared to VIP seats and royal boxes! I managed to get hold of all these first hand during the last BMW Malaysia Open 2014 (WTA 250) here in Kuala Lumpur, where I was given my very first media accreditation by the organizers through the help of Camerapixo. As members of the media, we were the first to be briefed with information about the event including program schedule, players; whereabouts, special functions and even cocktail invitation. We were also treated for some light refreshments all throughout the coverage and provided with regular transportation to and from the event. All these privileges come with your passion for sports photography, so I am very much thankful to Anetta and Artur for the issuance of my PRESS ID CARD. They are very helpful especially when it comes to requesting accreditation to be passed on to the event organizers. Just a tad note to those who want to apply for media accreditation when covering sporting events, ALWAYS be aware of the deadline for submission (unlike me, who missed two of the best tennis events this year due to late application - the BNL Internationale Italia and the Roland Garros). However, I am looking forward to cover more events (not only sports) through my PRESS ID. Thanks once again to Camerapixo! It’s all worth the experience!

RÉHAHN VIETNAM Réhahn is a French photographer with a passion for traveling and meeting people. After traveling more than 30 countries (Cuba, Bolivia, Peru, Myanmar, Indonesia, New York, Brazil, Chile), he eventually settled in the charming town of Hoi An in Vietnam. There, he can finally take the time to go and meet Vietnamese people and photography beautiful landscapes. Very active on his Facebook page, he spends time to respond to all his fans and put daily new photos of his last trips.
His favorite place is the north of Vietnam and its minorities. He used to go every year with his motorbike and his camera to the most unknown areas close to China’s border. His next trip will be in Tibet, China, Argentina and Colombia.

She was introduced to her first 35mm film camera at the age of twelve. Seven years ago Lexy entered the digital realm. It’s hard to believe but she’s been enthralled with this medium for nearly 43 years. Even harder to fathom are all the changes in photography in the past decade.
It is always an absolute joy for Lexy to work with women in the studio. For the most part, just about every ounce of her photographic knowledge has been learned through trial and error along with as much independent study as possible. She take the time to seek out photographer’s whose work speaks to Lexy; inspires her and challenges. “I think I’ve always wanted to be a photographer, in one form or another. But the final decision to do so came as a result of the influence of a photographer who worked with me in my brief modeling career. The experiences of working in the studio with him really formed the basis for my desire to do what it is that I now do. There really isn’t a time when I pick up my camera that I don’t often return to a memory of either his work or his influence. I have never forgotten this life altering experience. It’s the memory of my past experiences combined with my love of photography that drives my passion to create the same type of experiences for women today.”
