A Note From the Director... For the last 12 years or so I can’t think of Twelfth Night without thinking of Judi Dench’s Queen Elizabeth I speaking the following to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Master Kent at the end of Shakespeare in Love: “Tell Master Shakespeare something more cheerful next time, for Twelfth Night?” Mr. Stoppard’s Oscar winning screenplay has thoroughly tied itself to my thoughts, perceptions and feelings about this delightful romp of a play. I am specifically speaking about the epilogue of that film, which inspired the prologue that I have tacked onto the opening of the show. Which brings me to this particular adaptation and production. When we first began to discuss Twelfth Night back in April, it was with the thought that we would quickly be through this “lockdown” and that all would be normal by the time school began again in August. At first, it didn’t occur to us that we would be met with the kind of health and safety challenges that our particular backstage environment imposed. For example, there could be no more than 12 people backstage at one time as the size of the dressing rooms didn’t allow for any more than that within social distancing protocols. Onstage, a distance of six feet must be maintained at all times between the performers. Masks must be worn at all times. It never occurred to us that we would be making a film instead of performing a play. That being said, we were all completely committed to making sure that eryone who was cast in the show would remain as part of the show, regardless of the extreme and unforeseen circumstances that we found ourselves in. Thus, the need for the creation of this adaptation which now includes a prologue, some commentary and a few interludes scattered throughout to provide meaningful opportunities for full student engagement in the new performance environment we find ourselves in. The spirited discussion about the nature of Theatre and whether what we are doing in the virtual world can be considered that is a debate that we have all been engaged in and by. It’s a tricky question with a lot of different possible answers. I don’t have an answer for that question at this point. At times it
has felt like Theatre and at times it has felt like Film and at times it has felt like everything in between. I do know that I am incredibly proud of what these students have achieved, regardless of whether it’s truly Theatre or not. In closing, I would like to return to the afore mentioned Oscar winning film which in so many ways colors my take on Twelfth Night. There’s this little exchange of dialogue that so perfectly sums up what Theatre means to me and the crazy journey we’ve been on these last few months: Philip Henslowe: Mr. Fennyman, allow me to explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster. Hugh Fennyman: So what do we do? Philip Henslowe: Nothing. Strangely enough, it all turns out well. Hugh Fennyman: How? Philip Henslowe: I don’t know. It’s a mystery. George Brock October 2020

COMPANY BIOS Performers David Andrews ’22 (Sebastian) is excited to be in this year’s virtual production of Twelfth Night. Previously at EHS, David performed in Othello (Clown), Fiddler on the Roof (Mendel), and in The Man Who Came to Dinner (Richard). After a small break from EHS Onstage, David is excited to be back, even if it is virtual. He is grateful to his friends and family for their support. Lydia Berckley ’23 (Valentine) is excited to be part of her 4th production at EHS. Jackie Canfield ’21 (Ensemble) is excited to be a part of another performance at Episcopal High School. She has previously performed in Othello (Ensemble), The Man Who Came to Dinner (Plainclothesman, Choir), and Tuck Everlasting (Ensemble).
Ashlyn Collings ’24 (Olivia’s Entourage) is honored to be performing in Twelfth Night! New to EHS, Ashlyn is thrilled to work with such a fun and interesting cast. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, dancing, and participating in sports. Ashlyn would like to thank her mother for all her support.
COMPANY BIOS Taylor Collins ’24 (Officer 2) is thrilled to be a part of Twelfth Night! He has been in Shrek Jr. in the past and is excited to participate in another performance. Taylor is a sports enthusiast who loves to play with friends, listen to music, and swim.
Taylor Cross ’22 (Olivia’s Entourage) is ecstatic to be in Twelfth Night! At EHS, she was previously in Fiddler on the Roof (Bielke), The Man Who Came To Dinner (June Stanley), and Tuck Everlasting (Stage Crew). In her free time she loves to listen to music and hang out with friends, as well as continue in athletics.
Kristin Davis ’22 (Feste) loves performing. She previously has been in Fiddler on the Roof (Ensemble) and Tuck Everlasting (Ensemble).
Gwendalyn Diaz ’21 (Orsino’s Squad) Previous roles include: Tuck Everlasting (Winnie Foster), Nobody Sleeps (Ada), Fiddler on the Roof (Golde), Othello (Gratiano), and Into The Woods (Cinderella) with EHS Onstage; She Loves Me (Ilona Ritter) and Into the Woods (Rapunzel) with Operativo Houston; Legally Blonde (Vivienne Kensington), Annie (Annie), & Grease (Patty Simcox) with Pearland Little Theatre; The Lion King (Rafiki/Nala), R&H Cinderella (Fairy Godmother), and The Little Mermaid (Ariel) with Kids Backporch Productions. Kate Donaldson ’21 (Curio) is very excited to be in her ninth EHS Onstage production. She has previously performed in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Country Girl), Radium Girls (Society Woman), Into the Woods (Ensemble), Othello (First Senator), The Man Who Came To Dinner (Ensemble), Fiddler on the Roof (Shprintze), King Charles III (Nick), Tuck Everlasting (Carny/Ensemble), A Chorus Line (Connie Wong), and Legally Blonde Jr. (Store Manager and Hair Stylist). She would like to extend a huge thanks to her friends and family for their continued love and support. Addie Elmer ’21 (Malvolio) is ecstatic to be able to share this show with you all. She has previously been in The Actors Nightmare (Ellen), Tuck Everlasting (Nana), The Man who Came to Dinner (Banjo), 103 degrees Fahrenheight (Grandmother), Fiddler on the Roof (Yente the Matchmaker), Othello (The Duke of Venice), Into the Woods (Milky White), and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Ensemble). This has been a unique and challenging process and she hopes you enjoy the beautiful art that came out of it! Sophia Espinoza ’23 (Olivia’s Entourage) is so thrilled to participate in her second play at Episcopal High School. She has previously performed in Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, James and the Giant Peach, The Man Who Came to Dinner, and more. She has worked backstage on two other shows King Charles III and Tuck Everlasting. She also enjoys running cross country and playing tennis. Sara Faulconer ’21 (Orsino’s Squad) Recent productions at Episcopal include: The Man Who Came to Dinner (Miss Preen), King Charles III (Sara), Nobody Sleeps (Daisy), All Happy Families are the Same (Hayley), and Fiddler on the Roof (Ensemble). Harrison Goytia ’24 (Antonio) is ecstatic to be in his first EHS performance. Previous shows include Little Shop of Horrors (Orin Scrivello), Guys and Dolls (Sky Masterson), Beauty and The Beast (Gaston), Into The Woods (Rapunzel’s Prince), The Music Man (Mayor Shinn), Our Town (Simon Stimpson), Godspell (Disciple), and Urinetown The Musical! (Hot Blades Harry). Harrison would like to extend a huge thank you to his friends and family for their continued love and support. Braden Guthrie ’21 (Sir Toby Belch) is excited for his first performance on-stage at EHS! Previously, Braden has been a part of the orchestra pit for Tuck Everlasting. When he isn’t trying to figure out the difference between upstage and down-stage, Braden enjoys listening to music and working on his programming skills. Braden would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Telford for convincing him that he would enjoy being in the spotlight and to his parents for pushing him to give it a shot. Alena Haney ’21 (Viola) Previously appeared in Tuck Everlasting (Ensemble), King Charles III (Tristan Evans), The Man Who Came to Dinner (Maggie), 103° Fahrenheit (Ana), Fiddler on the Roof (Ensemble), Othello (Emilia), The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Country Girl), Radium Girls (Society Woman), Into the Woods (Ensemble), and All Happy Families Are the Same (Man #2). At Interlochen Center for the Arts: Alice (Commentator 2, Wonderlander, Lobster) and a gender-swapped version Twelfth Night (Orsino). She thanks her family for their endless support and dedication. Hudson Hicks ’24 (Orsino’s Squad) This will be Hudson's first onstage play at EHS. Hudson enjoys running, skeet shooting, and acting. Hudson is very excited for his first production at EHS!
COMPANY BIOS Josh Horn ’24 (Servant/Ensemble) is thrilled to be part of his first EHS Onstage production. He has had a wonderful time learning the ropes and experiencing high school theatre for the first time. When he’s not acting Josh plays baseball and golf.

Bella Marquez ’23 (Olivia’s Entourage) is very excited to be a part of her third production at Episcopal. She has previously performed in over 15 other productions including Shrek (Young Fiona), Snow White (Sneezy), Anne of Green Gables (Diana), Peter Pan (Wendy), and most recently Tuck Everlasting (Ensemble). She hopes you enjoy the show.
Logan McAlpin ’23 (Priest) is excited to participate in another EHS production after his first performance onstage last year in Tuck Everlasting (Constable Joe). At EHS, he played soccer on the JV team, but he is looking forward to more shows with EHS Onstage.
COMPANY BIOS Colin McCormick ’22 (Captain) Previous EHS performances include Othello (Ensemble) and The Man Who Came to Dinner (Ensemble). In his free time, Colin enjoys playing guitar and bass, listening to EDM, and playing video games with friends. Macy Mogas ’24 (Ensemble) is happy to be in Twelfth Night. She has no previous EHS performances. In her free time she likes to hang out with friends, eat food, and watch Netflix. Macy would like to thank her family for pushing her to do this.
Marco Montoya ’24 (Officer 1) is delighted to have the opportunity to perform in Twelfth Night. Marco has not done any EHS performances beforehand. His hobbies are; golfing, debate, snowboarding and traveling. Marco is grateful to have this opportunity and gateway to success.
COMPANY BIOS Serena Moore ’24 (Ensemble) is delighted to be cast in Twelfth Night. She is thankful for the opportunity to participate in her first EHS Onstage performance.
Caton Murry ’21 (Olivia) In addition to numerous previous shows before coming to Episcopal, with EHS Onstage she has most recently appeared in King Charles III (Kate Middleton), Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel), and in The Man Who Came to Dinner (Mrs. Dexter). She couldn’t be more grateful to her family and friends for their continued love and support and is incredibly thankful for the continued opportunity the program provides her.
Price Palmer ’21 (Sir Andrew Aguecheek) Previous EHS performances include: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Rupert), Into the Woods (Steward), Othello (Roderigo), The Man Who Came to Dinner (Dr. Bradley), and King Charles III (The Archbishop of Canterbury). Price would like to thank his friends and family.
Will Palmer ’24 (Orsino’s Squad) is excited to be in his first play at Episcopal. Past experience includes working on Shrek Jr. at Presbyterian School (Set Design Chief). Will usually is quite introverted, taking time to play games or develop stories in his head. He wants to give big thanks to his family members for helping him fit into the new EHS experience.
COMPANY BIOS River Reinertsen-Forehand ’21 (Fabian) Past productions include: The Lion King (Timon), Comedy of Errors (Antipholus of Ephesus), Into the Woods (Ensemble/Snow White), Othello (Desdemona), Fiddler on the Roof (Ensemble), 103 Degrees Fahrenheit (Whitney), The Man Who Came to Dinner (Lorraine), and King Charles III (Ensemble/ Free Newspaper Woman). She was Props Manager for Tuck Everlasting and she directed The Actor’s Nightmare for the Student Directed One Acts last spring. Taylor Schugart ’22 (Olivia’s Entourage) is very excited to be participating in another EHS onstage production. Poema Sumrow ’23 (Ensemble) Poema has previously been in multiple musicals including The Sound Of Music, Peter Pan, and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Poema loves to bake and paint, and traveling is one of her passions. In five years, Poema sees herself going to too many shows and suffering in her wallet. She would like to thank the EHS theater community for being so welcoming and kind, and for her encouraging family and friends who always support her through everything. William Taylor ’23 (Orsino’s Squad) has previously performed in The Man Who Came to Dinner (Sandy). Outside of theater, William plays basketball and does track. He is looking forward to future shows with EHS Onstage.
Kate Teagarden ’22 (Ensemble) Previous roles include The Man who Came to Dinner (Beverly Carlton), Fiddler on the Roof (Ensemble), Othello (Ensemble), and The Sound of Music (Mother Abbess). Outside of EHS Onstage, Kate participates in EHS Chorale, Swimming, Lacrosse, and she sings with the St. Paul’s Treble Choir. Kate would like to thank her family and friends for their support. Leah Teagarden ’22 (Orsino’s Squad) Previous productions include: The Sound of Music (Maria) & HGO’s The Little Prince (Children’s Chorus), Othello (Second Senator), Fiddler on the Roof (Grandma Tzeital), and The Man Who Came to Dinner (Mrs. McCutcheon/Choir). She is also a part of EHS Chorale, and became an officer this year, as well as Head Chorister at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Treble Choir. Anayla Wilson ’23 (Ensemble) This will be her first EHS performance, but not her first time on stage. When not in the theater, Anayla enjoys playing tennis, trying new foods, and being with her family. She is especially grateful to the entire theater team for everything that they do and welcoming her to the program with open arms. She would also like to thank her family for always supporting and never letting her give up on her dreams.

Madeleine Berckley ’21 (Stage Manager) is excited to be one of the stage managers for Twelfth Night. She has found a growing interest in technical theatre and stagecraft! Growing up in New York, Madeleine learned to love different aspects of art: visual and performing, and their many facets. She has previously helped with King Charles III, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods, Othello, 12 Angry Jurors and Tuck Everlasting. She is excited to continue pursuing these interests. Carson Clingman ’21 (Production Stage Manager) is excited to be a part of her seventh show at Episcopal. She has previously performed in The Lion King (Shenzi) and worked in the crew in Othello, Fiddler on the Roof, Nobody Sleeps, The Man Who Came to Dinner, King Charles III and Tuck Everlasting, and looks forward to the rest of her future plays and musicals at EHS. She thanks her friends and family for their love and support. Paige Naughton ’23 (Stage Manager) is thrilled to be helping out with Twelfth Night! Previous productions include The Man Who Came to Dinner, King Charles, Tuck Everlasting, and The Actor’s Nightmare.
