For traditional street photography you need to get close and stay unobserved by your subject this gives an intimacy not found when using a larger DSLR type cameras with a long lens which, can sometimes be seen as threatening. When I need to blend into the background, I go with one the smaller more compact models that have stunning image quality like a Leica D or C-lux.
