WHAT MAKES CAMBRIDGE SPANISH COURSES SPECIAL? How did you learn to ride a bike? Did you sit in a chair while someone explained the fundamentals of bike riding to you, or did you go outside and give it a try yourself? As of 2014, more than 450 million people speak Spanish as a native language, making Spanish the second most common native language in the world.

According to a study by the Instituto Cervantes, 45 million people in the United States speak Spanish as a first or second language. That’s a Spanish-speaking community the size of the whole country of Spain!

Destellos and Matices are thoughtprovoking intermediate-level Spanish courses for students who are continuing their Spanish language education. In addition to language instruction, each course takes a deeper look at Spanish speaking cultures, helping students build cultural awareness while learning authentic, modern communication skills. These student-centered courses give learners the opportunity to use language effectively to complete realworld tasks in a variety of socio-cultural contexts – raising their awareness and understanding of Hispanic issues and how they fit into the larger global story.

◄ Scaffolded activities using short clips from feature films produced in Argentina, Spain, and other Hispanic countries ask students to anticipate content and predict outcomes.
