In the Gym

As we approach the end of June, we have had some incredible events at the club this month. In early June we hosted the club's annual Charity Day and most recently had the Men's Captains Day this past weekend. These big events are so successful but take a lot of organising from a lot of people, however, they are worth every moment to see how many players are supporting these events and in addition how many former members came back for the day/s and were over-joyed as to the improvements made to the golf course

Well done to Simon and his team of Greenstaff for all the hard work and effort that they have put in to this point It is great to see the players being tested with some tough pin positions now that the condition of the greens allows for this. I managed to record my all-time lowest score at Cambridge Country Club alongside the "motleys" (member group) with a 66 this past week so I can confirm how much the course has improved and how much smoother the putting surfaces are Some of the course images just now are majestic!

The weekly super-league matches are bringing some competitive fire to the weekday evenings I hear the ladies are dominating, so well done! The Ladies section is going from strength to strength and we saw a fantastic Ladies Invitation Day this month and I hear there was lots of praise for the course and for Ruth's specials in Cotto after the round

Special mention to our Senior section for doing so well in the interclub championship and in the county knockouts up to this point - best of luck in the finals.

Continues overleaf...

We hosted a New Member welcome evening on June the 16th and it was so nice to play alongside the "newbies" and welcome them to the club. Thanks to the Committee, Captains and Joel for joining me to pair up and play and meet afterwards, thanks to Ruth for her incredible afterround catering

Our Pro Shop clothing has seen some exciting changes with the new Glenmuir club crested and tonal crested range. Even although it rapidly sold out, our next order is set for delivery early July We have had new hardware from our latest supplier Taylormade so the shop is gradually now covering all the bases

This month has seen Richard Bramley join the Pro Shop team for the summer while on break from University Please join me in welcoming him to the Pro Shop. He has a lot of golfing knowledge and is well placed to advise Thanks to Sarah and Ollie for their continued hard workwe have a great team

As the July events rapidly approach us, we have much to look forward to at the club Senior Captains Day is set for Monday the 3rd of July and Ladies Captains Day is set for Tuesday the 25th of July We also have the Captains Overnight away trip towards the middle of the month. We have a Callaway fitting day scheduled for July 26th, spaces are now limited so please book ASAP if you are interested in trying some of the latest in the Callaway line up. I have just had confirmation of the second fitting day which is Taylormade on August the 2nd. Please book ASAP in the Pro Shop to reserve a 30 minute slot If the Charity Day and Captain's Day are anything to go by, we are sure to have another exciting month

I hope to see you on the course very soon.

Sincerely,

Aaron Howard Accredited PGA Head Professional
