Hey... It’s Magazine day! It has been 5 years already that NCA has given an energy to the students to grab the knowledge. This is the third time that CCF has created a Magazine. NCA has treated students to a higher education and also provides STEAM (science technology engineering art and mathematics) lessons for us. The science lab also has everything for us to practice, learn and getting to know more about it. Moreover, our school also has evening classes that are related to STEM such as Robotics, Coding, Arduino, etc. Today it’s such a great opportunity that I can be a part of the CCF Magazine team as an editor. This is our first time to do the magazine but our team has put a ton of effort in to make it happen again this year. Most of the articles and design comes from our students. They worked really hard on this. I can see that they use their own imagination to put into this magazine. I’m really thankful to those that work hard on this magazine. When I first I entered into this magazine team, I really didn’t know anything but after a few months I can see the result with our team helping each other. I want to say thanks to Nicky for helping me to learn from this project and guide me, also as Designer, Photographer, and Writer. I will keep it as a memory and a lesson that I have learned. It has been
play with my friends because it was a big area and it place was considered a waste dumping landfill, that's why most people have been ignoring this area and kept this place as a landfill. Today is a special day to celebrate the 5 years anniversary of the Neeson Cripps Academy (NCA). It is such a great opportunity for me to be a part of the CCF magazine team to show how far we have come. It doesn’t look professional, but we are trying to put our best efforts into making it happen. I feel really happy to be involved and very enthusiastic to show what I have learned from this magnificent school and that it has been giving us so many opportunities to develop and grow. It has transformed the lives of disadvantaged kids including mine. It is a good model for the next generation of people to follow and demonstrate that the poor girls of this community can shine and have hope for a better life. We will endeavor while we are having fun learning anything by our beloved and respected founder, Mr. Scott Neeson, and his dedicated team of staff and volunteers. We owe so much to the NCA and those who were working tirelessly to educate us and give us a better future. To the NCA, I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for preparing me for a brighter future with hopes and dreams which I've never thought possible.

Bees are very important in gardens or plantations because bees are a part of helping plants grow well. Bees help bring the male pollen to the female pollen so that the plant can produce fruit and seeds so that the plant can reproduce free of disease. And as a result, provide honey to the hive. ដើ�ើម្បីី�រក្សាា�ឃ្មុំំ��ឲ្យយមាានជីីវិិត យើ�ើងមិិនត្រូ�ូវប្រើ��ើថ្នាំំ��សម្លាា�ប់់សត្វវល្អិិ�តទេ�។ យើ�ើងគួួរដាំំ�និិង បណ្ដុះះ��ផ្កាា�ដែ�លអាាចរឺឺកគ្រ�ប់់រដូូវ។ រុុក្ខខជាាតិិដែ�លមាានដើ�ើមវែែងៗដែ�លល្អអសម្រា�ាប់់ឃ្មុំំ��ធ្វើ�ើ� សំំបុុកដូូចជាាឫស្សីី�ជាាដើ�ើម។
To keep bees alive we must not use pesticides and should grow flowers, planting flowers that can bloom in all seasons. Plants with long stems such as bamboo are good for bees to make nests. យើ�ើងមិិនអាាចរស់់នៅ�ៅដោ�ោយគ្មាា�នឃ្មុំំ�បាានទេ� ព្រោះ��ះ�រុុក្ខខជាាតិិភាាគច្រើ��ើន មិិនអាាចបន្តតពូូជដោ�ោយគ្មាា�នឃ្មុំំ��នាំំ�លម្អអង ដើ�ើម្បីី�បង្កើ�ើ�តផ្លែ�ែ ឬគ្រា�ាប់់ បាានទេ�។ លើ�ើសពីីនេះ�ះ គឺឺគ្មាា�នទឹឹកឃ្មុំំ�។បើ�ើមិិនមាានឃ្មុំំ��ប្រ�មូូលទឹឹកដម បាានន័័យថាាគ្មាា�នទឹឹកឃ្មុំំ�។
We can not live without bees because most plants can not reproduce without bees to pollinate to produce fruit or seeds. Plus, no honey. No bees to collect nectar means no honey. “With growing interest and ownership of the school garden, I hope our students will continue to keep the Steung Meanchey bees busy well into the future,” says Fraser. 9
There are about 20,000 species of bees known in the world. There are three types of bees in Cambodia. There are Apis Florea, Apis Dorsata and Apis Cerana, and there is another type of bee imported from abroad - Apis Mellifera. Apis Florea is the smallest domestic bee that lives in the lowlands and mountains and survives nearly everywhere. It is known as a dwarf bee because of its small size. Apis Dorsata is a large species of bee that lives in forests, mountains and lowlands. They like to make high nests in trees or buildings. Apis Cerana is a type of bee that makes nests in the hive of holes or in the hollow space of something suitable for reproducing. Angelina Jolie, with the support of UNESCO, is planning to come to Cambodia in 2022 to create a project called "Women for Bees" that helps to preserve bees in Cambodia. And help women in Cambodia as well. The bee is a symbol for women because a bee hive can contain 80 to 90 per cent female bees. My Interest in Learning Animation By Sambat Kunthea
We worked with Animator Sreyneang and artist Kosal to animate his story of The Wolf and Raven. The reason that I enrolled in the animation class is that I think it’s a good opportunity for me to learn something new. And it is also my first time learning animation. And then I can draw, so I think I can do well in this class. The animation class is also a challenge for me because I have never used Adobe Animate before. Therefore, my learning may not catch all the lessons, but my teacher taught me step-by-step. My problem was when I learned at home the internet was slow, and I had to spend a lot of time-solving it. When I was in an animation class, I felt happy because I learned what I loved. And then I learned with senior CCF students that have some experience with animation. Even though I did not catch all the lessons, I did not feel bored. I want this class to run again, and I hope that lots of students can learn in the animation class. “Art seems to be a place where we can express all forms of emotions without limits.” SreyNeang, Animation Teacher

During the last few years, I have done a really interesting project called the smart IoT garden, it is about creating a better way to take care of the garden through using AI. We had developed a sensor to detect the soil. Whenever the soil is not moist enough the sensor will automatically pour water on the soil without people checking up. There are more sensors that help to take care of the plant such as the sunlight sensor and weather sensor. The other project that I have done was the worm farm and stop motion which is about

science and technology. These three projects we represented our school to join the National STEM fair in 2019. Additionally, I learned a lot about coding and business through joining the Technovation program, which is a program that provides a chance for girls to learn about technology and entrepreneurship. There are so many challenges during the competition but I still enjoy doing it because it was fun to learn things that I have never experienced. I joined this competition for three years until I can make it to the top as national winners in 2019. I also joined WRO (World Robotic Olympiad), and represented Cambodia in the global competition in 2018. In my opinion, STEM education will play an essential role in our education system in the next five years and it will be so important for the students to focus on STEM learning. In the future, there will be so many job opportunities that require STEM skills and students have to be prepared for that.
Through involvement in STEM learning, I
started to grow more passionate about a STEM career. Currently, I am planning to major in Computer Science at university and I want to become a Technology Entrepreneur.

‘Full Steam Ahead’ is a 14-month arts and educational project in celebration of the 90th anniversary of Phnom Penh Train Station in 2022 and to promote STEAM education. Created by Cambodian and international artists working with CCF students, the collaborations promote STEAM education and form part of a tapestry with all the works displayed in December celebrating the 90th anniversary of the capital’s railway station and the relaunch of Royal Train Square. Having the arts in STEM is something very important to us at CCF for the students to foster innovation while ensuring that Cambodian traditions and culture are not lost in the economic development of the country.

When I think about arts, it reminds me of something that teaches me to know who I am and want to show what I have through arts. Because the arts teach us to be brave, dare to show the real talent that we have, and the critical thinking capability. Arts also show our attitude as well as change our attitude to be better such as how to behave, etc. Also, arts show the concept, form, and evolution of each period throughout the social changes in the country and the whole world. 18
When I was young, I always wondered why some drawings are so expensive because it looks just like a normal one but after I understand about art, I start to get the answer from my “Why” question. Each painting or drawing is not just a picture that we can see. It has a unique story behind it and the meaning inside it. For example, I have seen an Apsara painting which is amazing because she wears a crown and sunglasses. That painting mostly uses red, blue and white colours, the same as the Cambodian flag which represents Khmer; Apsara wears a crown to represent our rich culture and sunglasses represent darkness. So the meaning of the painting is “the confusion of Khmer culture”. So art inspires me to look at the world as if I look at the painting. Not just what I can see but the real meaning of it by finding detailed information about it.

I do not come from the future but I can predict what will happen in the future by using my futuristic thinking, imagination and divination skills. So, here is my prediction for the next five years in 2027:
The flying ambulance will be based on multirotor technology and park like a helicopter. A small number of air ambulances in the city will get you to the hospital fast. It travels at an average speed of around 400 kilometres per hour. So, travelling at this speed might be a better choice to get to the hospital in under 3 minutes.

Due to COVID-19 circumstances, our schools had to close and all students needed to learn via online meetings.
I interviewed two students interested in sharing their online learning experiences. First is Panha and he studies in Grade 9 at the Neeson Cripps Academy School. He said that with learning online classes we have to face many problems such as low internet connections, personal surroundings or annoying sounds. From his own experience, he appreciated that he could keep learning even though it was hard to keep up in the lessons. Ultimately, his learning online improved with many new strategies and life experiments. Mouykea studies in Grade 11. She said since the COVID-19 outbreak she could not sit in an actual classroom. The only choice for students is to study online. “I am glad that I am still able to study in the midst of this pandemic. This is such a new experience for me to study through online classes,” says Mouykea. “During online learning, I have noticed myself improving a lot in my leadership skills. First, I become more responsible for my duty as a student. Online learning really requires this leadership skill in every student to study more effectively. Second, I have improved my collaboration skills because during online learning the teacher always assigned as to work in a group and this skill is very important in group work.”
As students we tend to face many problems and challenges - especially during COVID-19 - but we also get the benefit of improving our leadership skills.

HELPING OTHER PEOPLE The first story is “Saving a starfish”. The story wants to tell us that we can help other people as much as we can. We don’t have to be rich to help other people.
VALUE OF LIFE The second story is “The 50 Dollars”. It is about the value of money. Every money has its own value; however, it will be valueless if we ignore or tear it apart. So are our lives. If we ignore our lives; for example, when someone looks down on us, we are upset and give up on what we are doing, it means we are no longer valuable to ourselves.
LOVE AND TAKE CARE OF WHAT WE HAVE The third story is the story of “A blind man and
broadcasting man”. The story wants to teach us that we should love and take care of what we have. The story also wants to teach us that we shouldn’t be jealous of other people.
DO WHAT WE WANT TO DO The fourth story is about “The Empty Soap Box”. Are you doing what you really want to do? For instance, when you do your jobs, if you think it is easy, you can do it easily. However, if you think that job is hard, you will give it up immediately.
TEAMWORK IS POWERFUL The fifth story is “The King Cobra and Ants”. The story is about the prideful king cobra that keeps moving his home. One day, the prideful king cobra met the group of ants. He tried
to show off his power but he couldn’t win against the group of ants that work together as a team. It shows that the group of ants is stronger than the king cobra. The king cobra lost his pride and moved to find a
new home again. The lesson in this story is teamwork is the strongest power and insulting other people will lead to a disaster.

Have you all played sports? Many people already know what a sport is. In my opinion, sports are the expression of movement to release sweat and other toxins in the body. There are many kinds of sports, such as basketball, football, etc. Today I interviewed a Grade 12 student named Sreyno. She is a CCF student who has experience playing frisbee, as well as having experience competing in the sport abroad. She said that in the match between Cambodia and Malaysia, there is a difference in the weather. The weather in Malaysia is very hot, and before she went abroad, she trained to be the strongest in running as her coach advised. And for the spirit of the game, Sreyno has this advice: Take care while training Try to play with patience, do not try to think of anything else Encouragement for team members Love the sport you play Be tolerant of each other
