Message from our President: Anthony Kim Welcome to the First Annual CAMBA Business & Culture Expo 2010. Today, the Cambodian American Business Association has the great honor and privilege to bring you the Business & Culture Expo to the wonderful and vibrant city of Long Beach, California. The City of Long Beach is home to second largest Cambodian population outside Cambodia. Cambodian businesses are playing an important role in the growth and development of the city and a fabric of the society. Cambodian community has many to offers from the beautiful culture and arts, delicious authentic food, music, and the gentle smile of hers people. Cambodians are the descendants of the great Khmer Angkor which built thousand of the magnificent temples throughout her Kingdom. In 1992, Angkor Watt was inscribed on the World Heritage list and on July 8, 2008, the great Preah Vihear temple built by the great Khmer king, Suryavarman was inscribed as World Heritage site, the world’s greatest landmarks. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my privilege and honor to share with you of our mission and vision statements of our association. MISSION: The Cambodian American Business Association exists to promote, advocate, represent and work in a cooperative effort
with the Cambodian American business community to enhance the economic vitality, provide resources for economic growth and help businesses to compete effectively in the local and global marketplace. Mainstream in our focus, CAM-BA facilitates the growth and development of member businesses through ongoing entrepreneurial education, communication and business networking programs. One of our major goals is to enable members to participate fully in the economic development of our community. VISION: To serve as a liaison and resource center for business owners and members to network, market their products and services.

First Annual CAMBA Business and Culture Expo 2010
October 17, 2010 I send my warmest greetings to all of you on the momentous occasion of the First Annual Cambodian American Business Association (CAMBA) Business and Culture Expo. Since it’s founding in 2009, CAMBA has had a meteoric expansion, with a current membership of 400, facilitating the growth and development of member businesses through ongoing entrepreneurial education, communication, and business networking programs. As most of you know, more Cambodians reside in Long Beach than anywhere outside of the nation of Cambodia. The City of Long Beach and the southern California region have been positively affected by the vibrant Cambodian business community. The CAMBA Business and Culture Expo represents an excellent opportunity to introduce, network, expose, and expand markets while providing businesses an opportunity to meet sellers and buyers of their products and services. This will mark the first time that Cambodia will bring such an expo to the United States in an effort to promote its products to the United States market. I thank the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to the United States, the Cambodian American Business Association, and Long Beach Councilmember Dee Andrews of the 6th District for their efforts to ensure the success of your first Business and Culture Expo. FOREIGN DIPLOMATIC of the Year 2010 H.E Heng Hem - Ambassador from the Royal Government of Cambodia to the United States of America Hem Heng was appointed ambassador of Cambodia to the United States on Jan. 29, 2009. Ambassador Heng previously served as director of the Asia 2 Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-08; 200104), advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong (2004-08), and director of information and documentation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-06). In addition, Ambassador Heng served as minister counselor at the Cambodian Embassy in India (1998-2001) and second secretary at the embassy in Vietnam (1985-88), as well as various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including: deputy director-general of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Directorate (1996-98), deputy director of the Economic Cooperation Department (1992-96), bureau chief of the Department of Information (1990-92), and bureau chief of the Protocol Department (1989-90; 1983-85). Ambassador Heng holds a high diploma from the Agricultural School of Prek Leap in Cambodia; a public administration certificate from the Royal School of Administration in Cambodia; a diploma in international law, international organizations and diplomacy from the Indian Academy of International Law and Diplomacy in New Delhi; and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Delhi in India.
CONGRESSWOMAN of the year 2010 Honorable, Laura Richardson - 37th Congressional District, CA USA Laura Richardson’s “meteoric rise” has been nothing short of amazing. At the age of six, living through the civil rights movement and having picked her first profession of public service, Ms. Richardson started on that path by getting her first job at the age of 12 and later by participating in the Olympic trials at the age of 17. She graduated from UCLA, received a Masters from USC, and went on to spend fourteen years working in corporate America. In 2006, after serving six years as a Long Beach City Councilwoman, Laura Richardson won a seat in the California Assembly in the 55th District serving as Assistant Pro Tempore in the Assembly. She was recognized as the first AfricanAmerican woman, South Bay representative, and freshman to hold this prestigious position. In 2007, Richardson succeeded 16 candidates in a special election and was elected to her first term in the House of Representatives to represent California's culturally and economically diverse 37th Congressional District setting a record of distinction in having served all three levels of government; local, state and federal all in the span of ¬less than a year. Since being elected to serve in the House of Representatives Richardson was assigned to serve on the influential House Committees on Transportation & Infrastructure and Homeland Security. Speaker Pelosi has referred to Representative Richardson as bright, energetic, intelligent, and an asset to the committee chairs, caucuses and her constituents. Representative Laura Richardson is the
26th African-American female and the 239th female to serve in the U.S. Congress.
COUNCILMEMBER of the year 2010 Honorable, Dee Andrews - Sixth District, Councilmember, Long Beach, CA USA Councilman Dee Andrews has been a resident of central Long Beach, California, for the past 60 years. He is a proud graduate and former star athlete of Long Beach Polytechnic High School. While attending Poly, he received the All-American High School Football and Track Award. He was also the first African-American Student body president at Poly High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and Physical Education from California State University Long Beach. Mr. Andrew’s other achievements are the induction into the Long Beach State Hall of Fame, All American Junior College Football and Track Award, and he holds the World Record for 330 Intermediate Hurdles. The All-American football player for the Dallas Cowboys, returned to Long Beach to teach Black History and Government at Poly and Wilson High Schools. He has been inducted into the Long Beach Century Club Hall of Fame for his athletic accomplishments. The American Red Cross also honor the Councilman as a 2008 Hometown Hero . This honor is for the recognition of him leaping into action and helping to save an elderly woman from a burning building. Councilman Andrews is also featured in author Bishop Leroy book, "I Know Why the Caged Lion Roar". Known as the “Son of the Sixth” by the residents, Mr. Andrews is a father of three adult children and seven grandchildren. His vision for the central area is to attract businesses into the 6th District and to pursue employment opportunities for the unemployed residents. He also promotes after-school programs for youth which include tutoring and mentoring, the improvements of public safety and communication with residents, and the creation of the much needed infrastructure improvements for central Long Beach.

Outstanding Community Partnership Award 2010 Mr. Andy Perez - Director of Public Affairs, Union Pacific Railroad A native of Southern California, Andy Perez graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills with a BA in Public Relations. Andy joined Union Pacific in 2007 after several years as the Senior Public Affairs Manager for ConocoPhillips Refining, Marketing and Transportation Division. Perez is the Director of Port Affairs and has responsibility for the Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and Port of Oakland. In this role, Perez manages the interface between Union Pacific staff from Operating, Marketing, Safety, Environmental, Real Estate, Legal and Engineering with the Ports, multiple agencies, including all related cities, counties and governmental/regulatory, that partner with the railroad to solve communities’ intermodal and transportation needs. This also includes local, state and federal government relations. Perez is the local representative to the various Port communities and interest groups that follow the railroads lines of business on the West Coast. Perez also manages the local Union Pacific Corporate Foundation Grant and Philanthropic Programs. Perez is an active community member and volunteers his time to serve on the Board of Directors for the Long Beach Boys & Girls Club, VP – Communications for the Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Long Beach Chamber of Commerce and FuturePorts. Andy is also appointed to the City of Long Beach Community Development Advisory Commission.
Outstanding Community Service Excellence Merit Award 2010 Mr. Danny Vong - Chair of CAMBA Small Business Council, Community Activist and Businessman Besides being known as a successful entrepreneur in Long Beach, Mr. Danny Vong has been a community activist and leaders for many years. He was elected to serve as president of Cambodian Jewelry Association of California from 1998 to 2002 then he became the president of Cambodian-American Chamber of Commerce from 2002 to 2004. Mr. Vong also served as the president for Cambodian Coordinating Council from 2004 to 2006 and continues to play an active role as an advisor. In addition, he is currently serving as the board of director for the Great Long Beach Chapter of American Red Cross since 2006. Apart from serving on many of these leadership positions, Mr. Vong also had been very involved in addressing the needs of the local community and abroad. He was the chairman in Cambodian-American Stands United to raise fund over $30,000 for the victim of 9/11 with the partnership of the City of Long Beach. He also helped raised fund for Preah Vihear temple over $10,000 which delivered to Cambodia in 2008. Mr. Vong was honor as a Grand Marshall in Martin Luther King Parade in 2002 and also a Grand Marshall for the Cambodian New Year Parade in Long Beach.
Outstanding Community Service Excellence Merit Award 2010 Dr. Song Tan - President of the Cambodian Health Professional Association of America (CHPAA) Dr. Song Tan was born in Takeo province, Cambodia . He attended the Lycee Sisowath High School in Phnom Penh , Cambodia , and passed the National Baccalaurate Part II exam with the highest honor. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Phnom Penh in 1975. After surviving the Pol Pot's years, he immigrated to the US in 1980, and went on to complete his Pediatric Residency Training at the University of Hawaii , John Burns School of Medicine. He came back to Long Beach in the late 80' to set up his private practice in Pediatrics. He has been involved in numerous community services. This includes serving as a board of director for Cambodian Coordinating Council. Dr. Tan is currently the President of the Cambodian Health Professionals Association of America (CHPAA). He is excited with the first initiative of CHPAA, the Project Angkor, where over fifty volunteers were signing up to go for a medical and dental mission to provide free primary care services to the underserved areas in Phnom Penh at the end of this year.
