DIRECTOR’S NOTES Welcome to Camanche High School’s (almost done) new theatre! Theatre teaches many things about literary analysis, interpersonal relationships, history, along with numerous other lessons. Theatre also teaches creative problem solving. The cast, crew, and staff of this production have pushed that last lesson to the limit. (The construction crews, CHS Administration, and Butch Bos (Bos Electronics— Sound Engineer) have also fought to solve problems with us and for us; and we thank them!) Meredith Willson’s The Music Man is a classic example of American Musical Theatre. It celebrates not only a time period in Iowa history, but also the impact caring about something or someone can exert on an individual. The show is about Iowa people, with our stubbornness and fascination with the weather. It is also about Iowans and our compassion and caring about others. We want to thank the people of Camanche for supporting the construction of this new theatre and for caring about the performing arts and the students of the community. Meredith Willson writes that the show is a “valentine” to Iowa. This production is our valentine to Camanche. Enjoy the show!
~ Mr. Myatt

Theater Do’s and Don’ts Please DO...
· Turn your phone OFF, not simply on vibrate. · Unwrap cough drops and candies if possible BEFORE the show starts. · Remain in your seat during each ENTIRE act. Leaving during a scene or even between scenes is very distracting to the actors. · Applaud and laugh when appropriate. · Enjoy the performance!
Please DON’T...
· Take photos or videos during the show. · Talk or whisper during the show. · Attempt to make eye contact or get the attention of an actor during the show.
Children and Live Theatre Attending a live theatre performance can be a magical and memorable experience for young children. Done well, you will be planting the seeds of appreciation in a young patron for a love of live theatre. Done not so well, you could create a not-so-good experience for your child and the people seated around you. If your child becomes restless, please take him/her to the commons. We thank you for your consideration.
We hope you enjoy the show!
