LIGHTHOUSE

IMAGINARY ARCHITECTURE

LIGHTHOUSE IS A IMAGINATIVE ARCHITECTURE PROJECT TO DISPLAY AESTHETIC AND COMPOSITION SKILLS. THIS PROJECT WAS RECEIVED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND AN ASSOCIATED NARRATIVE WAS TO BE INCLUDED. LIGHTHOUSE EXAMINES MY OWN EXPERIENCE OF THE PANDEMIC THROUGH AN ISOLATED BUBBLE, OR RATHER A LIGHTHOUSE IN NOWHERE. THE WATERS HAVE RISEN UP THE FLOORS AND HAVE ONLY LEFT THE ACTIVITIES OF RELAXING WITH THE COMPUTER (COUCH AND LAMP), LOOKING TO THE FUTURE (TELESCOPE) AND A SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION OF THE STOPPING OF TIME (SPIN-TOP). THE TONAL COMPOSITION ALSO REFLECTS A MUTED AND SOMBER PALETTE.

COLOMBO HOUSE REMASTER

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

THIS PROJECT IS A 2 STORY REDESIGN OF THE EXISTING FLOORS OF THE COLOMBO HOUSE STUDENT DORMITORIES AT UNSW. THE STRATEGY DIVERSIFIED THE ACCOMMODATION TYPOLOGIES WITH A FOCUS ON PROVIDING 3 DIFFERENT ACCOMMODATIONS THAT EACH PROVIDED A DIFFERENT LEVEL OF PRIVACY AND RENT COST, WITH AN ASSUMPTION THAT THE LONGER STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THIS HOUSING THE MORE LIKELY THEY ARE TO MOVE IN WITH OTHER LIKE MINDED STUDENTS TO REDUCE RENT ALONGSIDE THE REDUCED PRIVACY

VISITOR CENTRE

SINGLEWOOD IS A DESIGN BASED ON THE EXTENSION OF THE SINGLETON VISITORS CENTRE WHICH NOW HAS AN ARTS WING. WE WERE TASKED WITH COMING UP WITH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE OLD SPACE. AFTER A PROJECT ON MORE EXPERIMENTAL SOLUTIONS, SINGLEWOOD IS THE RESOLUTION OF THE INTERIOR. IT WAS THEMED MAINLY ON THE BUSH LANDS IN THE SURROUNDING REGION AND INTERPRETING THEM TO THE INSIDE SPACE. THE DESIGN FEATURES DISPLAY SHELVING, SPACE FOR INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS AND ARTWORK, RECEPTION DESK AND STORAGE, AND COVID-19 REQUIRED CHECK-IN AND DISINFECT STATIONS.

Aria Apartment

HIGH END RESIDENTIAL CLIENT

ARIA APARTMENT WAS PART OF A INTERIOR DETAILING COURSE AND THE FOLLOWING WORK IS EXCERPTS FROM A DRAWING SET AND PRESENTATION DOCUMENTS. THE CLIENT WANTED A WARM AND INVITING HOME, AND HAD ALSO EXPRESSED GREAT INTEREST IN AN INDUSTRIAL AESTHETIC AND HER SHOE COLLECTION . THAT WERE THE KEY AREAS TO RESOLVE IN THE FINAL ASSESSMENT THE BEDROOM & ENSUITE .

In order to create a space that brings out and reflects the best of you, we understand it needs to be a warm and inviting experience This is both for returning to home after long and intense days, but also letting go when entertaining those you love, your family and friends.

Further to this, extra attention will be paid to providing an expansive kitchen and dining experience that will facilitate the activities and events that hold vast meaning for. It wouldn’t be yours if we didn’t pay attention to your shoes and other clothing that are both treasures and extensions of your identity with a unique solution for display. Additionally dedicated furnishings for Winnie that provide her with the comforts of home.

After our discussions it became evident your preference towards an industrial style that embraces a raw aesthetic that exposes the building in its purest form. This will give the interior space texture and patina that will embrace a timeless feel. This wabi-sabi approach will guide our decisions around the scenery of the space.

To contrast this, your inclination towards a diverse collection of art that has been collected from many corners of the world you have traveled will be the inspiration for our furnishing choices. These works have been chosen by you for there unique ability to draw out emotion or even memories for you and provide value beyond the physical. We recognize this shibui quality and aim to select unique furnishings that will hold and develop there own meanings and memories over the years and create unique attachment to the items in your home.

This project needs to deliver the following human experiences: We are designing the interior refurbishment based on an industrial style using high end residential materials

The design requires an expansive entertaining area with broad facilities for cooking and dining

We know we will have met the target for the interior experience if it is warm and inviting to the occupant and can comfortably entertain family and friends

This project needs to deliver the following practical deliverables: This project needs to accommodate one occupant and a single pet. It will also need to accommodate up to 9 guests. The following areas are required to be accommodated:

Separate lounge and dining

Separate kitchen

2 balconies

2 bedroom

Master Bedroom with ensuite and WIR

Guest Bedroom with ensuite

This project is a Class 2 building and must contain:

Facilities to cook + prepare food including a kitchen sink Bath &/or shower Washing tub + washing machine (in same area) can not be kitchen sink or hand basin

• WC + hand washing facilities

• Statutory Constraints:

• Min 2400mm height in habitable room

• Min 2100mm height in non habitable room

• Min 1200mm clear space between WC pan + doorway, measured from hinge OR lift off hinges

• Natural light + ventilation to all habitable rooms

• Non habitable rooms may be mechanically ventilated if no natural ventilation

• Maintain sound attenuation between apartments, especially relevant if proposing changes to floor finish

EVENT SPACE / HERITAGE REFURBISHMENT

THE GRADUATION PROJECT USED WHITE BAY POWER STATION AS A SITE FOR A HERITAGE REFURBISHMENT THAT CREATED A SPACE FOR ‘CREATIVITY, CULTURE & COMMUNITY’ MY EVENT SPACE WITHIN MY DESIGN THE BAYS WEST QUARTER IS INSPIRED BY THE MANGROVES WHICH USED TO BE PRESENT ON SITE BEFORE THE BAY’S MARITIME & PORT USES. THIS FORMS A TWO STORY EVENT SPACE THAT HELPS FACILITATE A LACK IN AFFORDABLE & ACCESSIBLE EVENT SPACE IN SYDNEY IN CORRELATION WITH THE FUTURE WHITE BAY METRO IMPLEMENTATION
