Welcome to Lip Sync Battles On behalf of the Callan United Football family, I would like to welcome you all here tonight. A huge amount of effort has been put into tonight's spectacle to make it enjoyable for you, to make it successful for the club. The dancers are primed backstage to wow you and leave you speechless in more ways than one! It would be remiss of me to not acknowledge the Lipsync Committee for the passion and dedication for making this a reality. Patience wore thin on occasions and hair was lost; and that was just the ladies. But focus was maintained and the finish line reached. A huge thanks to all who contributed to the production and cost of hosting such an event. This event is a step in a very long journey for our club but a pivotal step it is. It marks a watershed moment between old and new. While the big shiny future is exciting and required, we should not and will not allow ourselves to forget the foundations upon which, we have created this vision of the future in recent years. We have a responsibility as adult leaders in our community to provide enjoyment for children, safety in our care and assurance that we will try to make them the best player or coach they can individually be - to become the best people they can be. We think we do a reasonably good job at it too. It's all rooted in equality, encouragement, mutual respect, trust and belief in one another. We dont want to be somebody else. We are comfortable with our own identity! We're not perfect but we try really hard. The change when it comes will be big. Change can also be difficult and the club needs to be respectful of all viewpoints in the development of the Fairgreen. We believe that we as a club have a positive influence on many young people in the town. In signing our 99 year lease, we become custodians of the sacred place 'belonging to the town'. It's a long time since Cromwell rolled into town and unless there's a breakout, there won't be many cattle driven through the gates of the Green in the future. We work closely with John Lockes on many things but I can't see them coming back up to play too often on the Green. We need to make the Green work for the current generation of soccer enthusiasts in balance with those who live in its environs. It also has to work for the community. This is not a solo run. As we take flight to our next milestone in what has already been a five year journey, we do so with our hearts full of warmth that you, sponsors and individuals, have placed trust in the club to deliver on its promise! Thanks for your support and enjoy the night!
