The smart tool for EU proposal drafters and grant writers CallforEurope is a consultancy that provides for professional information and assistance on European Policies, Programmes and Public Calls. Hello readers! In the 02nd January 2022 edition, our weekly monitor reached 500 new calls recently opened by European Institutions and Agencies. During the last week no new calls were issued. So we spent time to monitor more specifically some of the calls already issued under the Horizon Europe Programme. In particular we made a thorough analysis on Horizon Europe funding calls in Destination " Sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply" with deadline on the next 26th April. This Destination includes activities in line with the scope of cluster 5, in the areas of renewable energy; energy system, grids and storage; as well as Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS). Programme
Public programmes that fund the specific call for proposals, according to specific policy objectives, and accompanied by specific working plans, financial regulations, etc.
Administration
Administrations, Institutions and/or Agencies, committed to the implementation of the programmes and funding of coherent initiatives and projects according to the single ongoing call for projects.
Objective
Public calls for projects generally include the general and specific objectives to be achieved by the funded initiatives. Objectives are coherent with the general ones defined by the funding programmes.
Eligible Activities
Projects are expected to be implemented through types of activities identified as eligible to public funding. In many cases, calls also list activitities and connected costs not eligible to public funding from a specific European programme.
Eligible Applicants
Entities eligible to apply for funding can be physical or legal persons. Legal persons can include public and/or private entities. In many cases, calls require applicants to form partnerships or legal consortia, with specific conditions for lead applicans, applicants and associate entities.

Objective
The aim of the action is to contribute to the implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, which aims to support Member States’ efforts to extend the roll-out of routine HPV vaccination of girls and boys to eliminate cervical cancer and other cancers caused by HPV in the coming decade
Eligible Activities
The action will support civil society organisations, including non-governmental organisations, to complement the Member States’ actions according to national and regional needs related to HPV vaccination policies and programmes. The activities which will be funded will include targeted meetings, workshops, and other initiatives to sharing information with national and regional authorities of Member States, which need to start large-scale HPV vaccination campaigns, with the main objective to receive support through the provision of expertise, best practices, and guidelines covering the planning and roll-out of vaccination campaigns.

Objective
The ‘HealthyLifestyle4All’ is an initiative, which will build upon the Tartu Call for a Healthy Lifestyle. The aim of this initiative will be to promote healthy lifestyles in the Union, in particular amongst children, and its scope will be widened to involve various Commission services, civil society organisations and the Member States.
Eligible Activities
This specific action will support the ‘HealthyLifestyle4All’ initiative by strengthening the health literacy component for the promotion of healthy lifestyles with a focus on the school setting, ensuring equal access to the activities by all socio-economic groups, and thereby reducing health inequalities. The work will be done through a holistic approach of a healthy school initiative, supporting Member States to create a healthy school environment. The action will support public authorities to increase opportunities for regular physical activity, to promote healthy lifestyles by exchanges of best practices on health literacy, including the health aspects of the Union school scheme and the promotion of the European Code against Cancer. The project will develop proposals for effective uptake of successful practices on health literacy and healthy lifestyles including, nutrition, regular health-enhancing physical activity and mental health in schools.

Objective
Competitiveness and innovation of the EU space sector depends on the availability of high educational standards and skilled professionals across a range of qualifications and the possibility for these professionals to upgrade and update their skills. This is also in the interest of the research and innovation community where the quality of the results and the impact of EU-funded research is a precursor of the future space sector. The EU also plays a role in the aligning of educational degrees to provide more opportunities and promote mobility of professionals and researchers across countries and sectors.
Eligible Activities
A structured overview of the educational offer in the EU, including continuing education for the EU space sector. Socio-economic analysis of the space-oriented student population and identification of gaps/shortcomings and excellences across the EU-27 and Associated Countries. Identification of the needs for education and skills in the EU space sector and of potential new educational knowledge answering emerging and future needs Assessment of the adequacy between curricula and sector needs; Actions for the promotion of space jobs and career in Bachelor and Master courses; Creation of educational material for jobs related to Earth observation and Positioning Navigation and Timing, in particular downstream. In relation to the expected impact, these outcomes will contribute to foster the EU space sector competitiveness by enhancing the adequacy between the needs of the sector and the qualification of the workforce and reinforce EU capacity to develop products and services with a higher level of autonomy.

This topic thus aims to support actions that complement and inform existing assessments and strategies on cooling, notably through a bottom-up analysis and taking into account local factors. Moreover, the topic aims to support approaches and activities that will contribute to ensuring that integrated cooling solutions are considered in public and private decision-making, planning, design and implementation processes.
Eligible Activities
Actions under this topic should, through a bottom-up approach, complement existing assessments, roadmaps and strategies, starting from the local context while deriving meaningful conclusions for the national and European level. For example, it should give insights into the typical potentials, conditions and use patterns for sustainable heating and cooling in a local context, which would be an important aspect for Member States’ reporting, notably under the National Climate and Energy Plans (NECPs) and for the Comprehensive assessments under Article 14 of the Energy Efficiency Directive.

The topic aims to support actions that develop, conceptualise and deploy new business models and concepts which fully tap the economic value and the wider benefits of integrated services. Integrated services in the sense of the topic are services that combine different energy services, such as energy efficiency, distributed generation and flexibility, and/or which integrate energy services with non-energy benefits. Moreover, the topic targets at services that contribute to the integration of energy sectors and carriers, notably electricity, heating and cooling and mobility, thus helping to overcome the fragmentation of markets and segments. Finally, the topic aims to enhance the cooperation and trust among different services providers and market actors, also across segments that so far do not have common business cases. The focus of the topic is on services involving buildings, i.e. services provided in, for or linked to buildings. These services should include an important element of energy efficiency. Moreover, the use of innovative technologies, as key enablers for the integration of services and sectors, is one important feature of this topic.
Eligible Activities
Actions under this topic are expected to establish and implement service models that enhance the business case of energy efficiency services by integrating elements that increase the value and diversify revenue streams, e.g. by integrating; distributed generation and self-consumption, demand response/ flexibility, including e-mobility; electricity with heating and cooling, including making use of heat storage; aspects of comfort, consumer satisfaction, safety, health, convenience etc.; maintenance and optimisation; aggregation of data and visualisation of energy consumption; technical support, communication and advice to end users

Eligible Activities
The proposal is expected to develop and validate innovative sustainable circular-bydesign solutions that can reduce environmental impact and increase the overall circularity of geothermal energy. The following can be considered: Capture of greenhouse gases, storage or reinjection schemes for the development and exploitation of geothermal reservoirs, in particular those with high content of noncondensable gases (NCGs), and the use of alternative fluid to brine. Techniques for reservoir development and exploitation in a wider range of geological settings, including complex and/or untested geological conditions. Potential introduction and demonstration of the innovative technologies as part of existing geothermal plants in Europe and abroad. Novel methods and technologies to find and develop productivity from near magmatic, superhot/supercritical zones that are currently unexploitable and non-commercial.

Objective
Concentrating solar power (CSP) plants supply renewable, dispatchable power and can therefore be an important element of the evolving energy system. Project results are expected to contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: Higher shares of variable output renewables in the energy system. Future, higher-efficiency CSP plants. Reduced levelized cost of electricity of future CSP plants. Significant performance regarding start-up, shutdown and load variation of future CSP plants. Improved environmental profile of future CSP plants.
Eligible Activities
Support will be given to novel solutions that use concentrating solar thermal energy to generate power. In terms of power dispatchability, the novel solutions will have to ensure a performance at least equivalent to current commercial installations. Solutions that cogenerate power and heat are also in the scope. Moreover, solutions that support the concentrating solar thermal technology with photovoltaic technology are also in the scope. Projects should assess the sustainability of the proposed solutions in environmental and socio-economic terms. Applicants are encouraged to consider a ‘circularity by design’ approach.

- Supporting tourism stakeholders to tap into the growing ecotourism niche tourism market. - Boosting innovation and digitalisation in the tourism sector, thus increasing its contribution to economic growth and jobs in the Mediterranean. - Improving the business environment for tourism SMEs, mobilising private-public investments, enhancing socioeconomic and market intelligence, diversifying and increasing the visibility of the tourism offer and products.
Eligible Activities
- Establishment of multi-stakeholder partnerships/hubs/networks/clusters to tackle the chosen theme(s) and priorities, as outlined above, in a coordinated and collaborative way. Participating stakeholders should include entities from at least four Western Mediterranean countries, and include both EU and non-EU Western Mediterranean countries. Stakeholders from other EU Mediterranean Member States may additionally participate. – Development of guidelines, business models and action plans for various stakeholders in the maritime and coastal tourism communities (e.g. regions, cities, businesses across the whole value chain, etc.) focusing on the chosen theme(s) and priorities as outlined above. – Design and testing of tools to assess and measure environmental impacts and monitor the implementation of sustainable and circular approaches and indicators/standards for sustainable tourism practices. – Design and testing of new tourism products corresponding to the chosen theme(s) and priorities above. – Awareness raising and capacity building activities for stakeholders in the coastal and maritime tourism sectors to support uptake of new models and approaches. – Development of policy recommendations for the chosen theme(s), based on lessons learned during project implementation and recommendations of mechanisms to ensure future sustainability and updating of activities beyond the project duration. – Forecasting and monitoring management plans and their targets, including upgrading skills and training public and private operators. – Engaging tourism destination observatories. – Aligning resource management among national, regional and local planning frameworks.

Minimum four entities from four different eligible countries, including at least two EU Member States and one eligible non-EU country participating in the Initiative for the sustainable development of the blue economy in the Western Mediterranean; At least one private-sector business entity or association in the coastal and maritime tourism sector; and at least one local/regional/city level public authority with competence relating to coastal and maritime tourism sector activities.The coordinator must be established in an EU Member State participating in the Initiative for the sustainable development of the blue economy in the Western Mediterranean (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Malta).

Objective

Objective

Analyse and monitor the uptake of digital health solutions in regions (with a particular focus on rural and remote areas), Member States and associated countries. This will include independent living and telemedicine solutions, primary and secondary use of health data, related standards, certification and relevant exchange formats, interoperability (in compliance with EU and national legislation). The assessment will also cover wider aspects such as their economic value to both patients and health and care systems, their impact on health and care efficiency and continuity of care, financing and reimbursement models, and citizen empowerment.

to support the roll-out of DTH by mapping and structuring the ecosystem within the EU Member States and associated countries to identify and pool existing resources, and foster collaboration and overall integration of the stakeholders, while ensuring adequate clinical representation. This will be facilitated through a roadmap, a federated repository connecting resources and a simulation platform.
Eligible Activities
Design a roadmap for the uptake of DTH and their further integration towards the Human Digital Twin, i.e. a validated, integrated multi-scale, -time and discipline digital twin of the whole body enabling the comprehensive characterisation of the physiological and the pathological state in its full complexity and heterogeneity. Besides tangible milestones and deliverables, the roadmap will identify the necessary building blocks up to the clinical deployment of personalised digital companions, and formulate clear short- and mid-term policy recommendations. It will also address aspects of interoperability, computability, integration of health information from various sources to depict an up-to-date digital twin of the individual.

Objective
European Youth Together projects aim to create networks promoting regional partnerships, enabling young people across Europe to set up joint projects, organise exchanges and promote trainings (e.g. for youth leaders) through both physical and online activities. The action will be implemented through two lots supporting transnational partnerships for youth organisations either at grassroots level or in largescale partnerships, aiming to reinforce the European dimension of their activities, including on how to live better together after the pandemic and helping to design sustainable future ways of living, in line with the European Green Deal and the New European Bauhaus initiative. Important thematic priorities for both sub-actions are working with and promoting the EU Youth Goals and, in general, the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027246. The European Youth Goals are also reflected in the President von der Leyen Commission’s political guideline. Project proposals may also treat the themes of the ‘Conference for the Future of Europe’. Young people and youth organisations are key actors in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Youth networks should consider ways of forging solidarity and inclusiveness, and how to improve quality of life after the pandemic, which concur with challenges related to digital skills and sustainable green lifestyles.
Eligible Activities
The action targets NGOs (not for profit) and public bodies, which propose projects with a capacity to mobilise young people in partnerships covering different countries and regions within the EU Member States and third countries associated to the Programme. Mobility activities for young people should form a key component of European Youth Together projects. This mobility should offer cross-border exchanges and non-formal or informal training opportunities for young people from across Europe (East, West, North and South) that can be prepared and supported through online fora to contribute to the objectives of this action. These mobility activities must be very clearly justified according to the objectives of the action.

Cooperation Partnerships allow organisations to increase the quality and relevance of their activities, to develop and reinforce their networks of partners, to increase their capacity to operate jointly at transnational level, boosting internationalisation of their activities and through exchanging or developing new practices and methods as well as sharing and confronting ideas. They aim to support the development, transfer and/or implementation of innovative practices as well as the implementation of joint initiatives promoting cooperation, peer learning and exchanges of experience at European level. Results should be re usable, transferable, up scalable and, if possible, have a strong transdisciplinary dimension. Selected projects are expected to share the results of their activities at local, regional, national level and transnational level. The action as described in this Work Programme is managed directly in case applications are submitted by European NGOs and Europe wide networks established in an EU Member State or in a third country associated to the programme.

Promoting active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative and youth entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship; Increasing quality, innovation and recognition of youth work; Strengthening the employability of young people; Reinforcing links between policy, research and practice

European NGOs and Europe-wide networks. Applicants must be established in an EU Member State or third country associated to the programme.

- to maintain and further define the strategic research and implementation agenda for achieving full digital language equality in Europe by 2030 developed in the first pilot project funded on the basis of 2020 work programme; - to strengthen the engagement and dissemination effort towards stakeholders who can contribute to or benefit from the developed agenda; - to document stakeholder commitment to the implementation of the agenda; - to provide incentives to stakeholders in user industries to implement language technologies based on the SRIA.

Objective
develop social support mechanisms that will support female students and students living in vulnerable situations to access, remain and complete secondary school
Eligible Activities
Intervention that will reduce drop-outs and improve retention, grades achievement and learning outcomes. The project should focus on creating safe schools that should retain girls and vulnerable students by ensuring the establishment of SGBV reporting mechanisms, formation of supportive peer-counselling structures and building of capacity of the female targeted students in life skills, gender based violence, sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and menstrual hygiene management (MHM). Bursary: the projects should develop comprehensive packages for provision of bursary support. This includes an establishment of sound criteria based on which the grantees of bursaries will be identified, amount of bursaries and a way of multi-annual distribution of these resources. The bursaries should cover the 4 years of secondary school for a given student or at least ensure that each beneficiary is accompanied until the end of the cycle
