The smart tool for EU proposal drafters and grant writers CallforEurope is a consultancy that provides for professional information and assistance on European Policies, Programmes and Public Calls. Our mission is to support transparent knowledge and easy access to all of the opportunities offered by EU Programmes. We think that giving fresh information on such themes is a valid lever for boosting European Union integration.
Our support is intended to: • offer technical information on how to access to and manage EU grants and projects; • make people find new transnational partnerships throughout Europe; • stimulate public debate on how to access to EU funds. Our ambition is to serve as a technical resource center. We want to serve primarily those that usually work on writing applications and
managing projects through European funding. Hello readers! In the 10th of April 2022 edition, our weekly monitor reached 289 new calls recently opened by European Institutions and Agencies. This week we monitored all the funding calls currently opened by competitive platforms. These are multi-year projects (funded by European programmes such as Horizon 2020 or Cosme+ programmes). They have the ambition to promote innovation and research generally among European SMEs. They pursue this goal by issuing competitive calls open for SMEs and other public and private entitities across Europe. Projects are funded most of times for improving competitiveness of SMEs in specific sectors or their propensity to technology transfer and innovation. Enable policymakers to better understand, measure and reduce skills gaps and problematic mismatches between skills and jobs, thereby supporting the diffusion and adoption of innovation, the digital and green transitions, inclusive economic growth as well as individual wellbeing. Support the objectives of the European Skills Agenda for Sustainable Competitiveness, Social Fairness and Resilience as regards Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Adult Learning (AL).
Eligible Activities
research activities carried out under this topic may cover aspects such as the determinants of the choice of VET or study programme by individuals; the coordination, cost sharing and financing instruments for skills development, looking into which instruments lead to which outcomes, and why; the role of employers and work places in the provision of VET and AL. Other researched aspects may be the involvement of employers in defining curricula and organising training; the role of personal attitudes and gender stereotypes, information and structural factors in the decision to seek initial or adult education; the extent to which training balances the provision of general, jobspecific and personal development skills (e.g. the levels and gaps of digital skills in the public or private sectors). Enhance EU migration policy by shedding light on micro- and meso-level drivers of migration. Assess how far policies take into account behaviours of migrants when aiming at regulating migration. Show how migration decisions change along the journey, and at what stage policies are more likely to play a role in shaping migration outcomes
Eligible Activities
Proposals should develop analyses of decisions taken by individuals to stay in their place of origin (village, city, country and region) or to leave. They should therefore consider the individual micro-level of decision-making, and should also consider the timing of such decisions and the drivers of the aspiration to migrate or lack thereof. Proposals should also take into consideration individual perceptions of structural factors (e.g. socioeconomic, political, climate-related) and the way in which they influence such decisions. Proposals should also combine such micro-level analyses with meso-level considerations of the context in which such decisions are formed, with due attention for differences across socio-demographic characteristics (e.g. gender, age, education level, socioeconomic status, ethnicity). Research may take stock of the available literature on the role family households play in shaping decisions to migrate, but is encouraged to go beyond, looking at societal drivers including local, regional and national politics and dynamics, events, narratives, histories and cultural and diaspora ties.

This topic aims at supporting activities that are enabling or contributing to one or several expected impacts of destination 3 “Tackling diseases and reducing disease burden” and destination 1 “Staying healthy in a rapidly changing society”. To that end, proposals under this topic should aim for delivering results that are contributing to all of the following expected outcomes: Based on a trusted governance and effective working modalities, research funders, health policy-makers and the research community work together in order to identify and prioritise topics of common interest and European benefit; Research funders and policy-makers: support the generation of knowledge related, but not limited, to cardiovascular diseases, diet related diseases and nano medical technologies, and have access to and make use of the evidence on the benefits and drawbacks of health interventions, in particular for optimising clinical management, personalised medicine (coordinating with the future Partnership on Personalised Medicine) and avoiding overtreatment; overcome the main obstacles to test health interventions at European level.
Eligible Activities
The “ERA for Health” Partnership will be a leading European initiative for the flexible joint programming of health related research and innovation programmes, effectively involving a wide variety of European funding organisations. This Partnership will be open in particular to public funders of Health research at both national and regional level in the Member States, countries associated to Horizon Europe and to other funders such as philanthropic organisations. Special attention will be placed on engaging with and including many research funders with relatively small budgets..

This topic aims at supporting activities that are enabling or contributing to one or several expected impacts of destination 3 “Tackling diseases and reducing disease burden”. To that end, proposals under this topic should aim for delivering results that are directed, tailored towards and contributing to some of the following expected outcomes: The scientific community has better understanding of the biology of the pathogens (virus, bacteria etc.), its transmission, its interaction with humans, animals and plants, in particular in view of emerging threats to human health, such as infectious diseases and anti-microbial resistance. Health care providers and practitioners have access to and use appropriate medical countermeasures, e.g. vaccines, diagnostics, therapeutics and digital solutions. Health authorities have the evidence-base and tools for better public health measures.
Eligible Activities
This topic aims to contribute and complement both of these initiatives, notably by addressing priority research and innovation gaps also identified by Member States and that would contribute and support the establishment and work of a potential future Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA). Research focussing on ‘pathogen X’ from threat assessment, horizon scanning for the identification of potential medical countermeasures and innovative technologies, including the development of standardised research protocols would be in the scope of this topic.

Objective
The aim of the action is to increase awareness, knowledge generation and sharing, and capacity building in the area of mental health. Activities will include the transfer of best practices, as it was indicated by the SGPP, on children’s and adolescents’ mental health and well-being.
Eligible Activities
Specifically, the actions will support interested stakeholder organisations, to come together to discuss and exchange mental health practices and knowledge, to implement validated best practices and evidence-based projects. The activities should focus on the needs of specific and/or vulnerable groups, in particular children and adolescents. The actions developed by civil society and health professionals’ organisations to improve mental health, namely by exchanging and implementing best practices, and implementing activities that will increase awareness, knowledge sharing and support for health professionals’ training, including the development of necessary guidance and/or training material, such as video tutorials, manuals, etc.

Academia and educational institutions, civil society organisations supporting the priority areas (health and social professional associations, schools, foundations, NGOs and similar entities). In order to contribute to the 2030 Climate plan, the ‘Fit for 55’ climate action plan and Green Deal, it is of the utmost importance that the quality of hydrogen fuel dispensed at the Hydrogen Refuelling Station (HRS) is meeting the applicable requirements (Directive on Alternative Fuels Infrastructure, Directive 2014/94/EU[1] and proposal for a regulation on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure 2021/0223(COD) and standards EN17124:2018 & ISO14687:2019. The presence of impurities will cause Fuel Cell (FC) degradation and will dramatically impact the FC durability of the zero emission Fuel Cell Electrical Vehicles (FCEV’s). This will have detrimental effects on customer satisfaction and competitiveness of the FC technology, jeopardising the establishment of the hydrogen society.
Eligible Activities
The HyCoRa and HYDRAITE FCH JU funded projects focussed on the impact of hydrogen impurities on the FC (in particular to assess the severity level) and conducted a limited sampling effort, resulting in about 48 samples taken and analysed from the market over a period of about 6 years. The outcome was that not all HRS are conform to the existing quality standards; in addition, this amount of publicly accessible data is too limited to be representative to the occurrence of impurities in the EU market. Such information is required in order to enable the cost-efficient RA quality assurance approach (requiring the Occurrence Class next to Severity Level as described in EN17124:2018).

Hydrogen is stored, transported or used pressurised with variable pressures depending on user cases (e.g. between 7 and 70 bar for various industrial applications and grid injection, up to 200 bar for filling gas cylinders, as well as up to 350 and 700 bar in refuelling stations). Hydrogen compression requires energy, which negatively affects overall process efficiency and hydrogen molecule final cost. Pressurised electrolysis therefore has the potential to provide an efficient solution for delivery of pressurised hydrogen at reduced cost. It also enables a low emissions form of hydrogen production, including down to zero emissions if powered solely by renewables. It is expected that this topic will provide breakthrough and game changing technologies for energy efficient pressurised hydrogen production using solid oxide electrolysers (SOEL) and contributing to the overall objective of the SRIA of the Clean Hydrogen JU, namely the hydrogen production cost of 3 €/kg by 2030.
Eligible Activities
Proposals for this topic should set out a credible pathway to contribute to the development and validation of pressurised SOEL with technological breakthroughs aiming at designing and operating a stack at an optimal pressure with eventual assistance of a downstream compression process to reach higher delivery pressure. Electrochemical compression in the stack can also be considered. To tackle these challenges, the proposals should focus on system and stack design, as well as fabrication, assembly and testing of stack in the conditions suitable for the relevant business cases.

It will cater to a wide spectrum of European and international urban stakeholders such as local authorities, representatives of international organisations and other policymakers, researchers and urban practitioners, representatives of the industry and the private sector, civil society and citizens. The platform will establish a geographically and thematically structured online repository of evaluated best practices[2], complemented by a moderated learning community, to facilitate the two-way exchange of experience and practices on achieving climate neutrality between the cities under the Cities Mission and cities worldwide. The goal is to accelerate learning, replicability and scaling-up of solutions by helping cities to learn from first movers and tailor their approach. As part of these activities, the platform will provide support as relevant to the cooperation and knowledge exchange actions of the global mission on Urban Transitions[3] set up under Mission Innovation. This will include coordination with the Commission and the Global Covenant of Mayors[4] as co-leads of the global mission.

Actions should highlight the sustainability of Union agriculture, stressing its beneficial role for climate action and the environment. Actions should address how the product(s) promoted and its/their production method(s) contribute to climate change mitigation (e.g. reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and/or increase in carbon removals) and/ or adaptation (e.g. climate-resistant crops and crop varieties). In addition, actions should address at least one of the following: a) biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources (e.g. wildlife, landscape, genetic resources); b) sustainable water management (e.g. water use efficiency, reduction of nutrients or pesticides load); c) sustainable soil management (e.g. erosion control; nutrient balance; prevention of acidification, salinization, reduction of pesticides); d) sustainable, carbon-efficient methods of livestock production; e) reduction of use of antimicrobials; f) reduction of food loss and food waste; g) animal welfare commitments that go beyond the mandatory legal requirements. Objective
High Value Datasets held by the public sector will be available via APIs in a machinereadable format for the creation of data products and services and for their use by the participants in the common European data spaces. This will help more companies, in particular SMEs, start-ups, as well as public organisations to use cross-EU data to scale up and offer EU-wide services, benefiting from the size of the EU’s digital market. The easy availability of machine-readable data in bulk or via APIs will also greatly facilitate machine learning based on public data, especially in the data-demanding areas such as climate change, pollution or weather predictions.The Open Data infrastructure will continue to facilitate and improve access and re-use by the private and public sectors of the datasets generated by European public administrations. Objective: The objective is to increase the easy availability, quality and usability of public sector information in compliance with the requirement of the Open Data Directive[1], in order to boost the re-use and combination of open public data across the EU for the development of information products and services, including AI applications.
Eligible Activities
Grants will support public administrations at local, regional and national level in increasing semantic, technical and legal interoperability and data portability of the High Value Datasets (HVDs) identified by the forthcoming corresponding implementing act and selected in specific categories indicated in Annex 1 to the Open Data Directive namely: Geospatial, Earth observation and environment, Meteorological, Statistics, Companies and company ownership, Mobility. In addition, the applicable data sharing rules for selected HVDs belonging to Geospatial, Earth observation and environment, Meteorological domains will complement the provisions of the Directive on Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE) and further support Green Deal related initiatives.

Objective
The principal objective of this measure is to further the development of the agri-food sector by enabling the full benefit of the digital transformation with AI and AI-powered robotics technologies and the move to a Circular Economy for a more sustainable, affordable, efficient and competitive production under high standards.
Eligible Activities
The selected project will develop reference testing and experimentation facilities with a focus on full integration, testing, validation, demonstration, and where appropriate certification, of advanced AI-based and AI-powered robotics technologies for the agrifood sector. Fields of applications may include, for instance, precision farming solutions, but also other applications from mid- and down-stream such as food processing, wholesale, retail, hospitality and food services. The project may cover the whole value chain of the agri-food sector, but should only cover at least agriculture. Where appropriate demonstration can be done in connection with a specialised demonstration facility, several sub-sector and production types can be considered as well as various variables as it regards crop-livestock types/soils/climatic and environmental conditions/ farm structure. The facilities may include a range of use cases in different fields such as – but not limited to - precision weeding/fertilisation/seeding, sensor data management, multifunctional autonomous robotics applications (and its long-time continuous use), and/or in different sub-sectors, such as arable farming, greenhouses, livestock/ chicken management. The project may conduct an analysis of bottlenecks and drivers of uptake of AI-based solutions by end users for its specific use cases, if appropriate in combination with the European Digital Innovation Hubs.

Objective
The projects to be funded under MusicAIRE will need to provide strategies, methodologies, and actions for the music sector to address the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis in at least one of the following thematic fields: GREEN recovery: increasing the sector’s environmental sustainability and ecological awareness with a view to greening the music industry, in particular live acts, festivals and touring, as well as supporting innovative start-ups aiming at decreasing the environmental footprint of online data storing and music distribution. DIGITAL recovery: adapting to new emerging trends in digital music consumption, distribution and promotion (e.g. of live music acts online) and developing and promoting sustainable business models that enable monetisation and guarantee remuneration of artists. Digital recovery involves the development of technology-driven products and services in music production, promotion and distribution, as well as capacity building actions for artists in order to make them more competitive and resilient in an increasingly technology-driven market. JUST and RESILIENT recovery: better harnessing music’s potential as a distinct cohesive force, with a view to contributing to increased solidarity, active citizenship, and social cohesion. This includes a stronger community role for music venues, better access to music both in terms of education and consumption, with a special focus on disadvantaged groups, and fairer remuneration for artists and gender balance.

Eligible Activities
Collaborate and establish networks and communities of practice with teacher education providers, teacher associations, public organisations involved in teacher education and other relevant actors to create innovative strategies and programmes for initial and continuous professional development for teachers and schools. Develop and deliver joint, innovative and effective learning modules on teacher education and for teacher competences on challenging and/or new pedagogical matters of common concern. Develop joint learning offer with a strong European dimension that includes mobility activities in all its forms. Identify effective ways to remove obstacles of mobility and identify conditions, including practical arrangements and recognition of learning. Involve schools and in particular training schools to experiment and share innovative new ways of teaching (including for distance and blended approaches to teaching and learning).

Any nationally recognised organisation (with the features of a participating organisation as listed below) established in a Programme Country. An Erasmus+ Teacher Academy must include at least 3 full partners from a minimum of 3 Programme countries (including at least 2 EU Member States) involving: At least two nationally recognised providers of initial teacher education from 2 different Programme countries, and At least one nationally recognised provider of continuing professional development (in-service training) for teachers.
