Hello readers! In the 15th of May 2022 edition, we monitored new calls issued under Horizon Europe Programme. New calls are related to very different current Horizon missions. 5 calls are published under the Mission on Cancer. 10 funding calls relate to the Horizon Mission on Soil and Food Health. Other 10 funding calls have been published through the Call for Actions for the implementation of the Mission Restore our ocean and waters by 2030. Under the Call Research and Innovation actions in support of the implementation of the Adaptation to Climate Change Mission other 6 calls are expected to be funded. A very interesting call related to social innovation has been published for promoting a "European Social Innovation Catalyst Fund to Advance EU Mission Objectives by Replicating and Scaling-up Existing, Demonstrably Successful Social Innovations". Call for proposals to monitor and strengthen the implementation of innovative approaches to prostate, lung and gastric cancer screening at Union level

Objective
The aim of this action is to provide Member States with evidence-based knowledge to be transferred to further design, plan, and implement prostate, lung, and gastric cancer screenings. Methodological approaches will be aligned and coordinated with the European Guidelines and Quality Assurance Schemes for breast cancers.
Eligible Activities
This action will support the optimisation of knowledge transfer, a better understanding of the needs, and the design, planning and development of possible options for future implementation of targeted screening on prostate, lung, and gastric cancers. In addition, the action will support initiatives to fill the existing gaps in knowledge and to fine-tune and improve the Member States’ approaches to the early detection of prostate, lung, and gastric cancer. It will help to align and ensure consistency in addressing a set of basic requirements that are currently being dealt with in a piece-meal manner in Member States.
Eligible Applicants
Academia and education establishments, research institutes, national and regional health authorities dealing with cancer screening programmes, hospitals, civil society organisations (associations, foundations, NGOs and similar entities), expert networks and established networks in the field of public health.

Objective
Due to its low volumetric density, hydrogen presents major challenges for transportation and distribution. Currently, compressed hydrogen transport faces limitations (mainly the delivery of small quantities of compressed hydrogen at low pressure) which inhibits its potential to become a widespread energy carrier. Moreover, the improvement and scaleup of transport and distribution technologies are needed for hydrogen to be transported efficiently, in high volumes, across large geographical areas. This topic aims to improve the efficiency of compressed hydrogen transport in order to achieve the optimum efficiency, taking into account the physical limitations. The existing solutions operating at 500 bar have not yet reached the physical optimal efficiency and the optimum cost. Research and innovation should address this problem of increasing the mass of hydrogen transported during a transport. This objective can be reached by a significant increase in the operating pressure of the tubes employed in the transport while ensuring the safety of people and goods.
Eligible Activities
Applicants should propose new solutions to decrease the specific weight (e.g. per unit of hydrogen transported) of the package. All proposed solutions should take into account the safety of the peoples and goods. The proposal should describe the method that the applicant will apply to take into account the safety aspects for the transportation system (trailer, container, bundle), tube, frames, pressure relief system (e.g. risk assessment), etc. The proposed solutions should be innovative in terms of capital expenditure. That aspect may be addressed by using, innovative design, cost-effective materials, competitive manufacturing techniques, innovative organisation, etc. The proposals may should also address the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

It is expected that this topic will provide breakthrough and game changing technologies for energy efficient pressurised hydrogen production using Proton Conducting Ceramic Electrolysis (PCCEL) and contributing to the overall objective of the SRIA of the Clean Hydrogen JU, namely the hydrogen production cost of 3 €/kg by 2030. The project outcomes will pave the way for the deployment of pressurised hydrogen production units based on proton conducting electrolyte to accelerate uptake in one or more applications (for example: injection into the gas grid, onsite production at HRS, feedstock for industry, such as steel plants, refineries, chemical plants). The project results are expected to contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: Contributions to demonstration on stack level for a pressurised steam electrolysis solutions by 2025; Contributing to European leadership for renewable hydrogen production based on PCCEL; Solutions for pressurised hydrogen production will open new target applications (e.g. gas grid injection, HRS) contributing to defining user cases and showing the applications and benefits of the novel technologies.
Eligible Activities
Proposals for this topic should set out a credible pathway to contribute to the development and validation of pressurised PCCEL with technological breakthroughs aiming at designing and operating a stack at an optimal pressure with eventual assistance of a downstream compression process to reach higher delivery pressure. Electrochemical compression in the stack can also be considered. To tackle these challenges, the proposals should focus on system and stack design, as well as fabrication, assembly and testing of stack in the conditions suitable for the relevant business cases.

Objective
The aim is to support existing or the creation of up to one NCC in a maximum number of EuroHPC JU Participating States. The NCCs will provide HPC services to industry (in particular to SMEs), academia and public administrations, delivering tailored/modular solutions for a wide variety of users, with an aim to ease and foster the transition towards wider uptake of HPC in Europe. NCCs will be a focal point of HPC in the respective country, liaising with national initiatives in the area of HPC, facilitating access of national stakeholders to European HPC competences and opportunities in different industrial sectors and domains. SMEs will be central to the NCC’s activities. Academic institutions and stakeholders may be addressed only to a limited extent and most of the resources of an NCC will be dedicated to support local SMEs, industry and public services.
Eligible Activities
Set-up and operate one Competence Centre for HPC in a maximum number of EuroHPC JU Participating States. The NCC will represent the focal point of national competences in HPC and provide leading-edge knowledge to enable the development of innovative solutions in their constituency, taking into account national HPC needs and requirements emanating from different user communities (industry, academia, public administrations) and application domains.

Public and private organisations established in the eligible countries and mandated by the competent national authorities to host a National Competence Centre for HPC. Beneficiaries established in the same country are expected to apply as ‘sole beneficiary

Objective
The traditional city innovation ecosystem is opening up to new models of innovation engaging citizens. An increasing number of cities are acting as test beds for innovation and run citizens-driven initiatives to find solutions for their relevant societal challenges. The public domain is particularly challenged with finding effective ways to ensure the mainstreaming of these practices into the ordinary urban development process. Successful practices are particularly crucial to enhance the city's capacity to attract new resources, funds and talents to stimulate the growth of breakthrough innovations. Moreover, collaboration and strengthening synergies among innovation ecosystems boost cities’ development and resilience to tackle urban challenges. For this reason, the European Capital of Innovation Awards will recognize the cities’ role as catalysers of the local innovation ecosystem and will stimulate new activities aimed at boosting gamechanging innovation.
Eligible Activities
A European prize to the most innovative cities ecosystems. The award will raise the profile of the cities that have developed and implemented innovative policies; established frameworks that boost breakthrough innovation; enhanced the city attractiveness towards investors, industry, enterprises and talents; helped to open up connections and strengthen links with other cities, promoting the replication of best practices in the innovation field; enhanced citizens' involvement in the decision-making process; and supported cities resilience. 1 winner: the winner (ranked 1st) will be named the European Capital of Innovation 2022 and will receive a prize of EUR 1 million. The prize is dedicated to recognise the winning city's innovative practices, raise its international profile, and enhance its capacity as a widely recognised role model city for urban innovation. 2 runners-up cities: top two cities (ranked 2nd and 3rd) with the most disruptive innovation practices that lead to outstanding impact will be awarded each a prize of 100 000 EUR.

Objective
The aim of this action is support the development of advanced digital skills of people in the labour force, with a focus on SMEs, by providing affordable access to highquality specialised training courses, reflecting the latest developments in key capacity areas, such as Cybersecurity, AI, cloud or microelectronics. SMEs owners, managers and employees will have the possibility to attend high-class digital training that larger companies can more easily afford. This action contributes to the implementation of the SME strategy for a sustainable and digital Europe, supporting the development of Digital Crash Courses for SME employees. This action will ultimately contribute to increasing the number of people able to design, develop and deploy digital solutions in the economy and across sectors.
Eligible Activities
The selected projects shall design and deliver short-term training courses (hereafter ‘courses’) for upskilling and reskilling of the labour force, with a particular focus on SMEs owners, managers and employees. The courses must be practical and provide specific knowledge about key digital technologies and their applications, for example: AI, cybersecurity, microelectronics, internet of things, 3D printing and modelling, cloud and software, data, or blockchain. Particular attention shall be given to aspects such as green application and environmental impact of these technologies. The courses can have a different length, from a couple of days to 6 months maximum. The main types of courses could be for example: o Courses for business’ leaders or managers, to acquire advanced digital skills and competences related to digital technologies and how they can be deployed to innovate and expand their businesses. o Courses for employed people or job seekers to acquire advanced digital skills and competences related to a specific aspect of digital technologies (e.g. Internet of Things for advanced manufacturing or data mining etc.. or targeted trainings to develop advanced digital skills in professions handling sensitive data and integrating new digital tools in their daily work, such as health and care professionals). o Intensive seminars and workshops on specific business cases and aspects of certain digital technologies for high-skilled workers in SMEs.

Objective
The world-class large-scale reference site for testing and experimentation of AI-powered solutions will enable integrating state-of-the-art AI and robotics technologies in the manufacturing domain, and will foster the deployment of trustworthy, transferable and scalable Industrial AI in Europe. A transition towards a more AI-driven manufacturing industry will improve the quality and sustainability of production.
Eligible Activities
The manufacturing TEF will provide physical and virtual access to real-life manufacturing resources that can be used for testing and experimenting with AI solutions. Examples of such manufacturing resources are model factories that combine different technologies such as additive manufacturing, machine tools, intelligent conveyor systems, automated warehousing, trusted and secured access to data, IoT infrastructure and more, covering multiple industrial processes. The manufacturing TEF will address the manufacturing sector’s needs for Industrial AI, taking into account domain-specific requirements in terms of time criticality, safety, security and effective interaction and collaboration between robots, AI solutions, and humans who are in control, as well as resource efficiency and environmental performance. The TEF site will offer support and best practices in AI solution implementation, testing and training of algorithms including: full integration, industrial validation and demonstration up to pilot manufacturing in dedicated assembly lines and production cells. The TEF needs to support testing and experimentation of main AI-related services, which cover areas of machine learning, robotics, planning and scheduling, optimisation, self-configuration, computer vision, formal methods, natural language processing, automated reasoning, game theory, multi-agent systems, complex systems, system verification, bioinformatics and others. The TEF site will define and establish European test and training data sets in cooperation with manufacturing data spaces. The project is encouraged to collaborate with other relevant Digital Europe Programme projects, in particular the edge AI and other sectorial Testing and Experimentation Facilities, to ensure appropriate synergies.

Objective
The Creative Innovation Lab shall incentivise players from different cultural and creative sectors to design and test innovative digital solutions with a potential positive long-term impact on multiple cultural and creative sectors. The Lab shall facilitate the creation of innovative solutions (e.g. tools, models and methodologies) that can apply to the audiovisual sector and at least another creative and/or cultural sector. Solutions should be easily replicable and have a potential for market penetration. For the purposes of clarity, the project does not necessarily have to be applicable immediately to the audiovisual sector but one that could easily be replicated in this sector. For the purposes of this year’s call, in addition to recurring objectives and activities, a thematic approach is also being adopted. For the second year of the Creative Innovation Lab the two themes are greening as well as innovative education tools to tackle relevant societal topics such as disinformation. The aim is to foster lifecycle thinking and promote a more sustainable and inclusive living environment and way of life.
Eligible Activities
The InnovLab support shall support the development of innovative tools, models and solutions applicable in the audiovisual and other cultural and creative sectors. Objective
The specific objectives of this call for proposals are: 1. To contribute to fighting corruption and advancing justice and public administration reforms; 2. To support culture as a driver for local development; 3. To strengthen capacities to influence decision making in the field of energy; 4. To protect media pluralism through quality journalism, professional standards and media literacy; 5. To support anti-discrimination policies, countering hate crimes and gender based violence

Lot 1: Fighting corruption, supporting justice and public administration reforms Lot 2: Culture for local development (under this lot financial support to third parties or sub-granting is compulsory) Lot 3: Support capacities in the field of energy and green transition Lot 4: Support to journalism and media literacy (under this lot financial support to third parties is compulsory) Lot 5: Countering discrimination, hate speech and gender-based violence

Objective
1. Providing responses to reduce social and political tensions and foster social cohesion within and among Lebanese communities, and collectively building a vision for a better Lebanon. 2. Mainstreaming social cohesion at community level through inclusive and participatory approaches to develop consensus building among Lebanese stakeholders from varied backgrounds into EU community-based development programmes.
Eligible Activities
Identification, promotion and implementation of bottom-up initiatives contributing to social cohesion and the steady reduction of intercommunal tensions (e.g. culture, artistic, cultural heritage and creative expressions, information campaigns, and awareness sessions on issues of common interest by and to citizens at community level); Creation of safe spaces for community dialogues to share and revisit the past, addressing trauma healing from the civil war and generating new ideas and a vision for the future of Lebanon with collective national identity; Organisation of group work by and among community citizens that reinforce shared identity across groups and enhance social responsibility through working toward the common good in the best interest of the society; Promotion and support to existing initiatives that increase collaboration between CSOs and local authorities to better serve the communities in which they work by providing efficient, effective and equitable services and public goods Promotion of dialogue among different citizen groups at community level, including faith-based groups.
Eligible Applicants
be a legal person and be established in a Member State of the European Union orestablished in Lebanon for at least 3 years prior to the publication of this Call under eligible NDICI regulations
