The smart tool for EU proposal drafters and grant writers CallforEurope is a consultancy that provides for professional information and assistance on European Policies, Programmes and Public Calls. Hello readers! In the 7st of July 2022 edition, we gave a look to all the new funding calls published recently. A new call for projects was issued by EACEA for funding initiatives aimed at establishing a European Hub promoting cultural heritage across Europe. Objective
The objectives of this call are to: (a) support projects demonstrating highly innovative technologies, processes, business models or products/services, that are sufficiently mature and have a significant potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (b) offer financial support tailored to market needs and risk profiles of eligible projects, while attracting additional public and private resources.
Eligible Activities
- activities that support innovation in low-carbon technologies and processes in sectors listed in Annex I to the EU ETS Directive 2003/873, including environmentally safe carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) that contributes substantially to mitigating climate change, as well as products substituting carbon-intensive ones produced in sectors listed in Annex I to the EU ETS Directive − activities that help stimulate the construction and operation of projects that aim at the environmentally safe capture and geological storage of CO2 (CCS) − activities that help stimulate the construction and operation of innovative renewable energy and energy storage technologies.

Objective
Overall objective is to boost cross-sectoral innovation among groups of SMEs using one or more of our key enabling technologies to develop sustainable products, processes, or services for our four offshore sectors.
Eligible Activities
Project proposals must address at least one of the four topics. Within each topic, it must address at least one or more of the the following fields: Development and production of advanced materials and structures designed to function in the exposed offshore environment. Of particular interest are materials that are either eco-designed, corrosion resistant, light weight, cost-effective or durable. Solutions suitable include materials for offshore multi-use platforms, wind farms and aquaculture as well as vessels. Digitalisation and data technologies for working in offshore environments; Inspection, monitoring, testing integrity; Robotic and digital solutions with a focus on improving operational and personnel health and safety; Satellite technologies for offshore applications and their supply chains; Innovative technologies supporting greater resilience of passenger, supply and emergency transport services. Reduction of waste and environmental impact through prevention, reuse, recycling and recovery. Innovative technologies supporting circular economy throughout the value chain, from design to decommissioning. Innovative technologies supporting energy efficiency and water efficiency throughout the value chain. Innovative technologies that provide solutions for and mitigate against the impacts of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon capture and storage (CCS). Innovative technologies to support the capture, storage and transportation of energy to the end user. Decarbonisation and modernisation of waterborne transport products, services and fleets. Development of complimentary onshore infrastructure. Development of onshore infrastructure, including requirements for clean energy waterborne transport, production, repairs, and maintenance. Winning SMEs will benefit from exclusive Business Support Services to ease new market access.

R&I actions to be supported under this topic shall contribute to all the following outcomes: Platform, standards and regulatory A versatile and dynamically evolving platform for R&I collaboration across sectors, between academia and industry partners with a focus on the early stages of applied clinical research on cancer. Cancer healthcare pathway standards to enable personalised treatment and joint registries. Demonstration of how the benefits of health technology convergence can be harnessed in line with all relevant regulatory frameworks in Europe. Improved multi-modal therapy Health innovations in cancer therapy through development, testing and validation of multimodal therapeutic approaches including novel or emerging technical and clinical concepts and potentially supported by in vitro diagnostics. Personalised therapeutic options for cancer patients to improve outcomes, including shared information and integration of various specialised clinicians as well as shared decision-making for treatment and care. Improved active monitoring and adaptation of therapy through the patient journey, involving early-response biomarkers and evaluation of their predictive power and correlation to clinical outcomes, as well as more involvement of patients in the cancer patient journey.
Eligible Activities
The aim of this call topic is biomarker-guided multi-modal precision oncology based on imaging, phenotype, genomics, in vitro diagnostics, co-morbidities, clinical and realworld data. Proposals should facilitate the development of new health technologies and integrate them with (possibly adapted) current therapy concepts, to create and explore multi-modal therapies personalised to the needs of the individual patient. Applicant consortia should pursue different therapeutic strategies and combine at least two cancer treating modalities1 (supported by a sound scientific rationale in the application).

R&I actions to be supported under this topic shall contribute to the following outcomes: A (sustainable) re-usable, interoperable, easily adaptable, and scalable digital platform, capable of translating a heterogeneous and fragmented set of complex measurable and analysable health data elements into a clinical-decision-support system that can guide patients to better health and quality of life. Initially designed for patients with neurodegenerative diseases and comorbidities, the platform’s easy adaptability ensures its re-use in other health areas for the benefit of healthcare professionals, patients, families, and carers, thereby promoting its wider use.
Eligible Activities
Neurodegenerative disorders represent a high societal burden impacting patients, their families, and public healthcare systems. Patients with a neurodegenerative disorder frequently display at least one comorbidity, which together with the observed polypharmacy creates a highly complex system that needs better understanding to optimise current care pathways. Recent developments give grounds for cautious optimism that a disease-modifying therapy is on the horizon. However, the high disease prevalence, and the complex evaluation process when such a therapy becomes available, will create challenges for already over-burdened healthcare systems. This will increase the demand for and importance of diagnostic and digital solutions that can drive the related clinical pathways and optimise and personalise care delivery.

Projects results are expected to contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: regions and communities have been involved in development and testing of a whole range of transformative solutions climate resilience solutions have been developed, tested and brought closer to the market
Eligible Activities
In line with the Mission objective to build systemic climate resilience, the proposal should address the multi-risks locally identified as climate vulnerability, addressing in a systemic approach one or more of the systems identified as key for climate resilience building in the Mission Implementation Plan Mission. For example, the proposed systemic solution could include one or more of the following: restoration of ecosystems and the establishment of ecological corridors, taking into account also the benefits and trade-offs for biodiversity, in particular in relation to soil and coastal erosion; solutions to better manage water scarcity and mitigate the impacts of droughts or to better manage water flooding, such as greening of infrastructures, tree planting, increasing of permeable green surfaces, or river deculverting in cities, peatland, wetland and floodplain restoration; solutions for a more climate resilient agriculture, fisheries, aquaculture and forestry as well as climate resilient food systems, such as culture rotation, silvo-pasture and other agroecology approaches in farmland, in particular in relation to droughts and water multi-usage and management; solutions for building and/ or managing new critical infrastructure and/or upgrading existing ones through green/ blue/hybrid infrastructure, in particular in relation to climate-proofing it towards extreme events; climate-proofing the development of incentive schemes fostering efficient use and allocation of water and solutions to reduce the vulnerability to water-related risks; regeneration of public spaces to create climate resilient neighbourhoods, in particular in relation to heat-waves and flooding events and their potential risks for human health and well-being.

Projects results are expected to contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: Relevant economic sectors affected by climate change are transformed and ready to face the future anticipated climate changes risks; An increased and improved range of climate-resilient business models, value chains, and re-skilling opportunities (including training capabilities) are understood, socially acceptable and made available to all regions and communities; An increased capacity of local businesses, social partnerns and industries for sustainable coping with climate change; An increased capacity of national, regional and/or local governments, consumers organizations and other social partners, industries and businesses in empowering consumers to make informed choices and play active roles in transition to climate resilience; A better understanding of mechanisms that would drive transformation of the economic systems thanks to innovation, intended not only as technical innovation but also including social and user-driven innovation.
Eligible Activities
The support that the projects are to provide the regions and communities should include the following main aspects (further detailed below): To provide direct support to the regions and communities sharing relevant state-of-theart knowledge, best practices and emerging innovations and solutions relevant to the transformation of all regional economic systems that are affected by climate change in the regional economic systems to become climate resilient. Objective
The EIC Scaleup 100 should help identify a cohort of 100 deep-tech companies from the portfolio of EIC supported startups as well as from similar programmes at EU level (such as the Digital Europe Programme and the EIT) and at Member State and Associated Country level, with the potential to scale up as global leaders or potential unicorns. Taking into account the diversity of national programmes, this action is also open to companies not being supported by national programmes as long as they meet the requirements for scaling up.
Eligible Activities
The proposed action will focus on EIC beneficiaries on one hand and European scaleups not currently benefitting from direct EIC support on the other hand. Both categories have to be ready for series B+ funding rounds. It is estimated that at least 50 companies would be identified from the EIC portfolio and up to 50 from other programmes at EU, Member State and Associated Country level, or supported by other relevant EU programmes or private initiatives, ensuring a geographical, and sector diversity. Particular attention should be paid to attracting women-led companies. The proposal will have to describe their methodology, both for identifying the supported companies and for scaling them up, the concrete set of proposed actions for scaling up and argument, why the action is proposed and is suitable for scaling up European companies.

The selected entity or consortium should have the knowledge, expertise and means, to foster substantial growth of deep-tech and digital European scaleups that will increase their number and value of commercial deals, investments deals and initial public offerings (IPOs)/acquisitions of the cohort.

Objective
A successful proposal will contribute to the European Green Deal, the EU Bioeconomy strategy and its action plan, the Circular Economy Action Plan, the Sustainable Textiles strategy, the Zero pollution action plan[1], as well as the New European Bauhaus initiative and the EU Industrial Strategy, as well as the upcoming Sustainable Product initiative[2]. The growth of European fibrous bioeconomy is also a powerful tool for revitalising marginal areas suffering from desertification or experiencing socio-economic difficulties. Project results are expected to contribute to the following expected outcomes: Sustainable provision of green biomass for the industrial biorefining process, with environmental and social co-benefits (e.g., increased valorisation of green biomass, large-scale high-carbon sequestration, improved understanding and application of biodiversity enhancing potentials (e.g., nature-based solutions), improved ecosystem services[3], recyclability, as well as skilled green jobs, especially in the rural contexts).
Eligible Activities
Proposals under this topic should: Enable any of several possible end applications, based on the developed fibre substrates, e.g., textiles, non-woven materials, composite bio-based materials, to foster innovation across industrial ecosystems, ranging from fashion, automotive, construction, to furniture sectors etc. Develop a plan for a subsequent up-scaling at biorefinery level, which should include the role of all actors in the value chain, from the feedstock supplier to the actors on the end-market. Furthermore, the model should show that the bio-based system does not interfere with the food chain (feedstocks not suitable for food production/ marginal lands etc.). Proposals may apply and/or adapt existing/mature or novel digital technologies if they are instrumental to achieving the project’s outcomes and scope. Applications of digital technologies that should be considered in the scope are among the following areas: i) chemicals, materials and process design & modelling ii) process monitoring and optimisation and iii) data analytics and data management of the activities in the scope.

The successful proposal will support bio-based industries, traders, and certification companies in tracing environmental impacts and circularity of industrial bio-based systems to enable responsible production in the industrial bio-based systems in the EU, in line with the 2030 Climate Target Plan and the EU Zero pollution action plan[1]. Project outcomes will contribute to enhancing circular bio-based systems to operate according to planetary boundaries, replacing fossil-based systems and their carbon footprint, mitigating climate change, restoring biodiversity, and protecting air, water, and soil quality along supply chain of biological feedstock and industrial value chains within the EU and Associated Countries and across borders. Project results are expected to contribute to the following expected outcome: Monitoring systems and assessment of the environmental impacts and circularity of bio-based systems for the EU single market and for international trade.
Eligible Activities
The environmental sustainability and circularity assessment of industrial bio-based systems is instrumental to guarantee and monitor that they are developed with the aim to contribute to the just green transition of the EU economy away from a linear fossil-based system. The method for such assessment would represent an instrument for policymakers and for investors to support the best performing bio-based sectors and to leverage investments and ensure competitive edge solutions. This requires the development of scientifically robust metrics and performance benchmarks, which should benefit to the greatest extent possible from existing methodologies and indicators[2]. Methods and indicators should use the available environmental observations efficiently. Proposals under this topic should: Identify the range of industrial bio-based systems in the scope of CBE within the EU to be analysed in the project. Evaluate existing and/ or develop new methods to assess environmental impacts of the selected industrial bio-based systems and their products on climate change (mitigation and adaptation), biodiversity (protection and enhancement), land use and water resources use as priorities, but also on air, water, and soil quality.

De-risk technology, boost the scale-up of advanced biofuels and non-biological origin renewable fuels. Contribute to the priorities of the SET Plan Action 8. Eligible Activities
Proposals should demonstrate innovative and cost effective sustainable value chains for advanced biofuels or synthetic renewable fuels of non-biological origin (other than for hydrogen as a final product), over the entire cycle from feedstock to end use. Any sustainable biomass feedstock including residues and wastes, or biogenic CO2 or industrial CO2 and renewable hydrogen, as well as input energy to the conversion should be addressed. Pathways which are biochemical, thermochemical, biological, chemical, electrochemical or combinations of them should be considered. Proposals should aim at improved performance in terms of increasing the efficiency and sustainability and reducing the cost, while evidencing the value creation along the value chain steps. Complete value chains may address any relevant end use.

The beneficiaries will each receive a voucher of up to €9.000 each in order to implement the action plan presented in the Application form about their digital transition and the adoption of Smart Tourism Tools that RESETTING project will elaborate. The exact financial support will depend on the budget presented in the application form by the SMEs and clearly defined in the Action Plan Agreement.

Objective
This action is expected to provide practical help to protect journalists under threat, including concrete tools such as advice and legal support as well as offering shelter and logistical assistance thereby enabling the targeted journalists to continue pursuing their professional activities. This can include financial support when needed. The project will also organise visits to affected countries. Anti-impunity action shall be supported through advocacy. The tools used will be adjusted to accommodate individual needs on a case-bycase basis.

Cooperation projects; Conferences, seminars; Training activities; Awareness and dissemination actions; Actions aiming at the creation and improvement of networks, exchanges of good practices; Actions aiming at the creation and improvement of digital tools; Studies, analyses, mapping projects; Legal and practical support to journalists; Advocacy missions; Financial support to third parties.
Eligible Applicants
be legal entities (public or private bodies) be established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.: Creative Europe Participating Countries: EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs)) Proposals must be submitted by a consortium of at least two applicants (beneficiaries; not affiliated entities), which both comply with the following conditions: minimum 2 independent entities from 2 different eligible countries proposals may be submitted by any of the following applicants or combinations of: non-profit organisations (private or public); international organisations; universities; educational institutions; research centres.

Objective
The principal objective of the call is to encourage and to facilitate the active engagement of a wide network of European citizens around the European Elections 2024.The European Parliament is looking to co-finance projects articulating a coherent, consistent and cost efficient work programme to engage with citizens through offline and online communication activities.
Eligible Activities
The second action consists of communication actions or a series of communication actions, offline and/or online, informing citizens about the European elections 2024 and supporting democratic engagement among citizens. Examples of communication actions: - promotion of the European elections 2024 and together.eu at existing online/offline events or series of events aimed at providing citizens with an opportunity to discuss topics directly linked to the European elections 2024, - online/offline large-scale event or series of events where the beneficiary is participating in the event or series of events as, holder of a stand or provider of (part of) an activity included in the event programme dedicated to informing event participants about the European elections 2024 and together.eu - structured activities such as information stands, door-to-door canvassing, marches, rallies, leafleting, street activities, games, flash mobs, etc., aimed at increasing the visibility of the European elections campaign and mobilising citizens for the European elections and together.eu; - series of online/offline information sessions, presentations, workshops, organised by the beneficiary in schools, universities, within organisations, etc. and aimed at mobilising participants for the European elections 2024 and together.eu,

Objective

This action consists of the design and implementation of capacity building through training and other actions, aiming at providing change-makers with skills, competences, tools and motivation to play an active role in the democratic life and in the promotion of the democratic values, especially by mobilising their community to participate in the European Elections in 2024. After the training, the beneficiary should monitor and report on the communication engagement activities organised by the trained change-makers. The change-makers should commit to organise at least 2 activities with an outreach of at least 100 persons in total in a physical setting in their community using the skills and competences previously acquired through capacity-building.
