We think that giving fresh information on such themes is a valid lever for boosting European Union integration.

Our support is intended to: • offer technical information on how to access to and manage EU grants and projects; • make people find new transnational partnerships throughout Europe; • stimulate public debate on how to access to EU funds. Our ambition is to serve as a technical resource center. We want to serve primarily those that usually work on writing applications and

managing projects through European funding. Objective

The research and innovation action to be supported under this topic is expected to deliver results including a methodology for EFS in the EU, to facilitate compliance with the relevant legislation applicable in the EU, and a stakeholder network. It will contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: Patients and/or their representatives are engaged and contribute from the start of the development process of innovative health technologies. EU-wide and national regulators, health technologies assessment (HTA) bodies and notified bodies benefit from novel and robust methodologies, gain early knowledge on innovations, and can better anticipate and plan conformity assessment processes. Researchers, healthcare professionals, medical societies, and hospitals: contribute to the early generation of quality data; strengthen our understanding of disease management and treatment options that could inform future medical guideline development; provide input on innovation development; take part in the development of “hubs of clinical excellence”, thereby attracting investment into existing research and innovation as well as other areas (spin-off technologies).

Eligible Activities

The incremental development of innovative / breakthrough health technologies takes a long time, during which an innovation will have to successfully go through a process of testing and evidence generation before it can be launched. As part of this process, early feasibility studies provide the opportunity to capture relevant additional information for the intended use from the real-world setting that would not be possible in non-clinical studies (i.e. bench testing and animal studies) at a very early stage. EFS can make it possible to optimise design and gain necessary information before running a large clinical investigation.

Following the EIT Call for Proposals 2021 for a new EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI) and in accordance with the conditions laid therein, on 22 June 2022 the Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) designated a consortium ‘Innovation for Creative Economy (ICE)’, proposal number 101089436, as the new KIC called ‘EIT Culture & Creativity’ (‘EIT CC’ or ‘KIC’). Further to the EIT Single Programming Document 2022-2024, the EIT may award a start-up grant to EIT Culture & Creativity in order to support the efficient setting up of the new KIC. The designated consortium shall submit a proposal for their Start-up Plan and the estimated budget in accordance with the conditions laid down in the "Invitation for a 20222023 Start-up Plan proposal and estimated budgetin the area of Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI)". The purpose of the start-up grant is to cover activities that are necessary to setting up a KIC, covering legal, operational, governance, strategic outlook, and other aspects. The Start-up Plan will be evaluated according to the criteria defined in the Invitation.

Objective

To support scaling up of companies in Europe, the EIC is seeking to build synergies with the wider European startup ecosystem via a second wave of actions under the Commission’s Startup Europe initiative. The actions will act as a catalyst to fulfil the potential of European startups, in delivering market-ready applications and technology solutions that can contribute to the competitiveness and strategic autonomy of EU industry in key technology areas and value chains.

Eligible Activities

Actions will reinforce the activities of the European Innovation Council by targeting digital and deep tech startups that have received support from EIC to support their scale up in Europe. The actions can support also deep tech startups not yet been supported by the EIC, including startups that have already received private investment or EU funding (e.g. under Horizon Europe or the Digital Europe Programme), and raise their awareness of the opportunities on offer from the EIC. It is foreseen that the targeted startup communities will contribute to development of applications that foster climate-neutrality, digital and circular economy, clean industry and user-centric technology development, while also encouraging inclusiveness, and incorporating European social and ethical values. Connecting local digital and deep tech startup ecosystems and supporting crossborder acceleration activities for startups. Among the startups ecosystems to be connected, specific attention will be given to including of ecosystems in Widening countries. Actions should also ensure the integration of startups with the Digital Europe Programme (for example from European Digital Innovation Hubs), the non-EIC parts of Horizon Europe (for example leveraging the Innovation Radar intelligence) and national programmes targeting startups.

Objective

EIC Transition aims at maturing both your technology and business idea thus increasing its technology and market readiness. This topic has no predefined thematic priorities and is open to proposals in any field of science, technology or application. For any chosen field, EIC Transition projects should address, in a balanced way, both technology and market/business development, possibly including iterative learning processes based on early customer or user feedback. These activities should include, subject to the level of maturity of the technology, a suitable mix of research, technology development and validation activities to increase the maturity of the technology beyond proof of principle to viable demonstrators of the technology in the intended field of application (i.e. up to Technology Readiness Level 5 or 6). The activities must in all cases address market readiness towards commercialisation and deployment (market research, business case, prospects for growth, intellectual property protection, competitor analysis etc.) and other relevant aspects of regulation, certification and standardisation, aimed at getting both the technology and the business idea investment-ready.

Eligible Activities

EIC Transition funds innovation activities that go beyond the experimental proof of principle in laboratory. It supports both the maturation and validation of a novel technology from the lab to the relevant application environments (by making use of prototyping, formulation, models, user testing or other validation tests) as well as explorations and development of a sustainable business case and business model towards commercialisation.

Eligible Applicants

A single legal entity established in a Member State or an Associated Country (‘monobeneficiary’) if you are an SME or a research performing organisation (university, research or technology organisation, including teams, individual Principle Investigators and inventors in such institutions who intend to form a spinout company). Larger companies (i.e. which do not qualify as SMEs) are not eligible to apply as a single legal entity; or a small consortium of two independent legal entities from two different Member States or Associated Countries, or a consortium of minimum three and maximum five independent legal entities.

Eligible Activities

Europe has to scale up existing research capacities and reach a critical mass through tighter networks of European AI excellence centres. The proposals should develop mechanisms to reinforce and network excellence centres in AI, bringing the best scientists from academia and industry to join forces in addressing the major AI challenges hampering its deployment, and to reinforce excellence in AI throughout Europe via a tight network of collaboration. Such networks are expected to mobilise researchers to collaborate on key AI topics and to increase the impact of the funding in progressing faster in joined efforts rather than working in isolation, with fragmented and duplicated efforts. Such networks, together with other mechanisms, will play an important role in reaching critical mass and in overcoming the present fragmentation of AI research in Europe. Proposals will mobilise the best European teams in AI community to join forces to address major technical as well as sector- or societal-driven challenges: strengthening excellence, networking, multidisciplinarity, academia-industry synergies. Activities of the Networks: In order to structure the activities, the proposals will focus on important scientific or technological challenges with industrial and societal relevance where Europe will make a difference, by building on strengths, or strengthening knowledge to fill gaps critical for Europe. Based on the identified challenges, the proposals will develop and implement common research agendas. The main vision and roadmap with targets within the projects, as well as methodology to implement and monitor progress will have to be specified in the proposal and can be further developed during the project. Scientific progress will have to be demonstrated through testing on application specific datasets or use-cases. By extending the benchmarking of foundational research to application specific areas, the research community will simultaneously address advancements in AI and grand societal and technological challenges. The proposals should define mechanisms to foster excellence throughout Europe, to increase efficiency of collaboration, including through networking and exchange programmes, and to develop a vibrant AI network in Europe. Each network will disseminate the latest and most advanced knowledge to all the academic and industrial AI laboratories in Europe and involving them in collaborative projects/exchange programmes. (This could involve projects defined initially or via financial support to third parties, for maximum 20% of the requested EU contribution, with a maximum of 60k€ per third party[2]). Each network will develop, where relevant, interactions with the industry, in view of triggering new scientific questions and fostering take-up of scientific advances Each network will develop collaboration with the relevant Digital innovation Hubs and AI start-up initiatives, to disseminate knowledge and tools, and understand their needs. These networks should also foster innovation and include mechanisms to exploit new ideas coming out of the network’s work (for instance via incubators). Overall, each proposal will define mechanisms to become a virtual centre of excellence, offering access to knowledge and serve as a reference in their chosen specific field, including activities to ensure visibility.

Objective

i4Trust is launching its second and last open call to select up to 19 Bottom-Up Experiments. European Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) are called to play a key role in improving common mechanisms that could help their local startups, SMEs and slightly bigger companies to really scale-up their businesses, contributing to the creation of smart cross domain and cross border solutions. New business models are to be found better fitted to solve most of the issues that are holding the EU back from realising its potential in the data economy. In this context, the main goal of the i4Trust initiative is to boost the development of innovative services around new data value chains . We achieve this by providing the right tools, training, mentoring and funding for the creation of Data Spaces enabling trustworthy and effective data sharing. Ecosystems of collaborating SMEs and supporting DIHs will emerge in a sustainable way around such Data Spaces. .

Eligible Activities

The tools for the creation of Data Spaces comprise mature standard-based building blocks from the FIWARE and iSHARE frameworks, together with common data models defined for multiple application domains. The FIWARE Context Broker building block supports effective data exchange among parties by using the standard NGSI. Combined with commonly adopted data models, all these building blocks bring the means to support full interoperability among parties and core concepts such as loose coupling (in which the involved participants may have specific, but more limited knowledge about each other), as well as reusability and replaceability of data sources and applications. i4Trust will help generate significant benefits for European SMEs that are not yet datadriven, in terms of innovative power and higher sales and revenue. Selected consortiums made of SMEs and DIHs will receive funding as a lump sum, ranging from €72,000 to €120,000 per consortium, depending on the number of members within each consortium. Eligible activities are: - Design, implementation and testing of the software associated with your experiment. This may include the creation of adapters to existing systems or the creation of new services (e.g., Innovative analytics service where data remains decentral and at source while analytics is performed and only derived results -depending on use case without personal data- is made available) ● Deployment and operation of the required i4Trust Building Blocks, thus enabling systems from organisations involved in your experiment to share data. ● Creation of a Data Node instance using i4Trust building blocks (a platform where data from organisations is made available to the ecosystem) or publication of offerings on data from organisations using the global experimental i4Trust Data Marketplace instance. ● Participation in relevant market fairs and global events, where the i4Trust project will be presented, to showcase the results of the experiment and address potential customers and stakeholders (e.g FIWARE Global summit) ● Documentation of the experimentation (e.g. FIWARE Impact Stories, FIWARE worldwide Blogpost, possibility to access at the FIWARE Marketplace) for publication on the i4Trust, FIWARE and/or iSHARE websites.
