The smart tool for EU proposal drafters and grant writers CallforEurope is a consultancy that provides for professional information and assistance on European Policies, Programmes and Public Calls. Our mission is to support transparent knowledge and easy access to all of the opportunities offered by EU Programmes. We think that giving fresh information on such themes is a valid lever for boosting European Union integration.
Our support is intended to: • offer technical information on how to access to and manage EU grants and projects; • make people find new transnational partnerships throughout Europe; • stimulate public debate on how to access to EU funds. Our ambition is to serve as a technical resource center. We want to serve primarily those that usually work on writing applications and
managing projects through European funding. Call them “Euro-drafters” or “Euro-experts”: in any case, their activity demands high specialization and a constant updating on European policies, programs and public calls. Our service is intended for them but also for any private, public and not-for-profit organization interested to European programmes and funds.

Hello readers! In the 16th of October 2022 edition, we commented some EU calls recently issued. The European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund supports for more than 15M EUR, actions for the implementation of the EU Green Deal and a sustainable blue economy in the EU maritime areas and in those of associate countries. Half of the sum is dedicated to sustain initiatives for innovation in careers in the Blue Economy, through education, vocational guidance, promotion of careers in the Maritime Sector throughout Europe. The European Commission also issued a call for sustaining information measueres on new EU Cohesion Policies. Connecting Europe Facility is to fund 8 new calls on infrastructures and Telecom sector through Europe. Have a good read!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONSULTATION ON SINGLE SYNOPSES
Programme
Public programmes that fund the specific call for proposals, according to specific policy objectives, and accompanied by specific working plans, financial regulations, etc.
Administration
Administrations, Institutions and/or Agencies, committed to the implementation of the programmes and funding of coherent initiatives and projects according to the single ongoing call for projects.
Objective
Public calls for projects generally include the general and specific objectives to be achieved by the funded initiatives. Objectives are coherent with the general ones defined by the funding programmes.
Eligible Activities
Projects are expected to be implemented through types of activities identified as eligible to public funding. In many cases, calls also list activitities and connected costs not eligible to public funding from a specific European programme.
Eligible Applicants
Entities eligible to apply for funding can be physical or legal persons. Legal persons can include public and/or private entities. In many cases, calls require applicants to form partnerships or legal consortia, with specific conditions for lead applicans, applicants and associate entities.

Support deep tech innovation as a basis for a modern, knowledge-driven, resourceefficient and competitive economy; Promote female leadership in the deep tech industry to build fairer, more inclusive, and more prosperous innovation ecosystems in Europe.
Eligible Activities
Women TechEU targets highly innovative start-ups founded, or co-founded by women, holding a top management position (CEO, CTO or equivalent) in the company at the time of submission. The company must be registered and established in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country for at least six months at the time of the submission. All deep techdomains are eligible, with the emphasis being on overall gender balance and the position held by women in the start-up. Supportprovided to Women TechEU beneficiaries under this initiative is made up of the following components: - financial support to the company as an individual grant of EUR 75 000 supporting activities such as evaluating and refining products/services, design, user experience, upgrading the business model, updating the business plan and growth strategy, finding partners and investors, market validation, etc.; - mentoring and coaching provided by the EIC Business Acceleration Services (BAS), under the new ‘Women Leadership Programme’, which includes dedicated networking and pitching events; - the possibility to participate in dedicated activities organised by InvestEU and the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).

Participation is limited to early-stage deep tech start-ups founded, or co-founded by women, holding a top management position (CEO, CTO or equivalent) in the company at the time of submission. The applying legal entity must be registered and established in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country for at least six months at the time of the submission. Objective
The objective of this topic is twofold. On one hand to deploy advanced national quantum systems and networks for testing quantum communication technologies and for integrating them with existing communication networks. On the other hand to use these quantum systems and networks for developing and testing use cases in support of national QCI initiatives in the context of the EuroQCI initiative. This support is needed to contribute to European technological autonomy in the highly strategic field of quantum communication technologies.
Eligible Activities
In each participating Member State, the project should include the following activities: Deploying advanced experimental quantum systems and networks combining the best of quantum and classical security technologies. Where possible, using pilot devices, technologies and systems developed and manufactured in the EU, in order to support their further development towards maturity and their compliance with the EuroQCI’s security needs. The aim is to prepare the large-scale uptake and use of such systems and technologies, operating in traditional telecommunications networs, Including, where relevant, existing TESTA infrastructure by national stakeholders and their first use in advanced use cases in different application scenarios: targeting firstly public use cases by linking public authorities within the country; making these quantum networks available to industries operating the network’s different layers contributing to developing nationalbased production chains for supplying critical quantum communication components and systems; making these quantum systems and networks available for educational purposes providing a training environment for technical and research staff as well as national users from public authorities or other organisations. Demonstrating first longdistance quantum communication networks (including, for example, quantum internet demonstrators) compatible with the overall EuroQCI system architecture, in order to prepare the large-scale deployment of a QCI spanning the EU;

Objective
The objective of the KYKLOS4.0 – Open Call #2 is to accelerate innovation in the digital manufacturing domain by facilitating the implementation of projects led by SMEs and with the participation of an industrial partner. The objective of the open call is fund the development of innovative solutions to improve digital manufacturing processes. Applicants will be required to select, integrate and validate one or more of KYKLOS 4.0 services and respective technological components as part of their experiments.
Eligible Activities
KYKLOS 4.0 - Open Call #2 invites proposals for the development of an innovative solution(s) for a manufacturing scenario in which they will have to carry out a pilot experiment in a manufacturing environment. The defined scenario must be addressed by developing a solution that adopts one or more services selected from the KYKLOS 4.0 platform, which should be integrated and validated as part of the defined experiment. Proposed solutions should demonstrate a high innovation potential and be ready to explore commercialisation opportunities by the end of the experiment period. The Open Call #2 will have a single phase where a minimum of 14 proposals will be selected. The maximum amount of funding per awarded consortia of 2-3 entities (a consortium must be led by an SME) is €150.000 (maximum of €60.000 per third party, with other specific rules applying for each type of entity).

Enable the creation of a European community of academic and research champions in institutional transformation towards inclusive gender equality. Strengthening of the inclusiveness and connectivity objectives under the new European Research Area. Award and certification schemes implemented in different countries, in the EU and beyond, have been shown to be useful tools for advancing gender equality in academic, research and innovation organisations, with some awarding schemes effectively being used as drivers for competition in attracting students and researchers and/or as prerequisite for having access to funding.
Eligible Activities
The Prize will be awarded to up to four academic or research organisations, and contestants can apply to one among the following three prize categories: Sustainable Gender Equality Champions: Organisations that can demonstrate a significant and sustained record of activity and a high level of achievement through the implementation of their GEP; Newcomer Gender Equality Champions: Organisations that have recently started implementing a GEP and can demonstrate the most progress in its implementation and achieved results; Inclusive Gender Equality Champions: Organisations that have developed the most innovative inclusive GEP addressing intersections with other social categories such as ethnicity, social origin, sexual orientation and gender identity (LGBTI+) or disability.

The project stemming from this topic should develop a shared methodology for transforming existing stations or designing new ones into socio-technical systems operating as city’s greening engines for the surrounding environment, and new urban hubs aggregating multiple services for the users and its citizens. In this respect, the project will integrate and contribute to the EU-Rail Multi-Annual Work Programme – Flagship Area 4 – A Sustainable and Green Rail System as well as to the European Union New EU Urban Mobility Framework[1].

The project stemming from this topic shall contribute to deliver the expected outcomes and the R&I work includes: The development of analytical tools that will support the methodology for evaluating the costs and benefits of broadening the original purpose and functions of a railway station in the context of urban planning and mobility (from a simple departure/arrival point to a dense node of mobility, economic and social activities) as well as smart grids and energy performance (and any relevant station transformation), The definition of sustainability indicators (including social, economic environmental and resiliency dimensions) guiding the methodology, taking into account the existing Sustainable Urban Mobility Indicators[2]..

Objective
The ERC wishes to support an organisation or a consortium of organisations to set up a funding scheme that would facilitate 3-5-month stays of journalists at research institutions. The purpose is to give the journalists opportunities to learn and work on in-depth reporting projects by immersing themselves in the research environment and interacting with scientists and scholars. Such opportunities – organised for example in collaboration with ERC host institutions and in ERC grantees’ teams and labs – should facilitate better understanding of frontier research, while respecting journalistic independence.

Advance the European and global scientific basis, European leadership and global role in the area of renewable energy and renewable fuels and related energy value chains while creating evidence for policy making by developing novel digital solutions. Provide digital breakthrough solutions for promoting the increase of the global renewable energy share. Reinforce the European scientific basis through international collaboration while increasing the potential to export European renewable energy technologies and ensuring political priorities in the context of sustainable global energy value chains. Improve reliability of system components, advanced and automated functions for data analysis, diagnosis and fault detection, forecasting and model-predictive control frameworks, ancillary services for the stability of the network; maintenance planning and/ or reporting.
Eligible Activities
Development of novel real time and open data monitoring and/or simulation solutions (e.g. including digital twins) for sustainable energy production and consumption, predictive modelling and artificial intelligence for the analysis of international renewable energy value chains and for internationally aligned decision-making in cooperation with international partners from Mission Innovation Countries. To ensure trustworthiness, wide adoption by user communities and support EU policy-makers, actions should promote the highest standards of transparency and openness, going well beyond documentation and extending to aspects such as assumptions, models and data related to renewable energy and fuels. Specific Topic Conditions: Activities are expected to achieve TRL 5 by the end of the project – see General Annex B..

Objective
This topic aims to increase the level of energy performance reached after building renovation and the number of ‘deep renovations’. This requires addressing the obstacles to deep renovation, which are present at different levels. When deep renovation cannot be implemented in one step, staged deep renovation is an option which should be promoted through public policies. It implies that the measures implemented comply with a long-term deep renovation strategy for the building, thus avoiding lock-in effects. Renovation passports are essential to support staged deep renovation and the proposal for an EPBD recast sets up a framework for their introduction by Member States. Their roll-out needs to be supported in close link with energy performance certificates and one-stop-shops for building renovation.
Eligible Activities
Proposals should increase the uptake of deep renovation, by addressing one of the following areas; addressing several areas does not necessarily increase the relevance of the proposal. Regardless of the area(s) chosen, proposals should be well tailored to the action context in terms of building segment(s) and typology(ies), climatic zone(s), and legal, administrative, economic, market related or social conditions, and well aligned with the national and/or local initiatives in place or under development. Proposals should also involve the key stakeholders relevant to the activities and demonstrate the endorsement of the approaches proposed. 1. Building renovation passports 2. Objective
Under the ‘Fit for 55’ Package to implement the European Green Deal, the Commission proposed a whole set of new measures to revise the main pieces of climate and energy legislation, notably the Energy Efficiency Directive, the Renewable Energy Directive and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. The revisions will make the policy framework for sustainable energy more stringent and ambitious. While the legislative framework offers a good amount of flexibility to Member States to design the policy measures according to their needs and framework conditions, accurate monitoring, projecting and evaluation are essential elements of implementation. Importantly, the legislation is strongly interrelated and needs to be implemented and reported in an integrated, consistent way. With these challenges in mind, the topic aims to support the implementation of the main pieces of legislation in the field of sustainable energy, notably of the Energy Efficiency Directive (Scope A), the Renewable Energy Directive (Scope B) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive

Objective
The main aim of the call is to provide support for the production and dissemination of information and content linked to EU Cohesion policy, including inter alia the Just Transition Fund, or relevant support under the Recovery Plan for Europe or from the Technical Support Instrument. The proposals should provide coherent, objective and comprehensive information, in order to give an accurate overall picture of the EU Cohesion policy. The proposals should illustrate and assess the role of Cohesion policy in delivering the EU’s political priorities and in addressing current and future challenges for the EU, its Member States, its regions and the local level.
Eligible Activities
The information measures should include one or several activities such as: production and distribution of print, multimedia or audiovisual material; web and social media outreach activities; media events; conferences, seminars, workshops. Expected Impact: For the general public: increased public awareness of the results of Cohesion policy and their impact on citizens' lives to Europeans who are unaware of the EU and of the EU action in their region. Information should focus on developing greater understanding of the contribution of Cohesion policy to boosting jobs and growth in Europe and reducing disparities among Member States and regions. For stakeholders: enhanced stakeholders’ engagement (including national, regional and local authorities, beneficiaries, businesses, academia) enabling them to further communicate the impact of Cohesion policy on their regions and to feed into the discussion on the future of Cohesion policy and, more broadly, the future of Europe.
