The smart tool for EU proposal drafters and grant writers CallforEurope is a consultancy that provides for professional information and assistance on European Policies, Programmes and Public Calls. Our mission is to support transparent knowledge and easy access to all of the opportunities offered by EU Programmes. We think that giving fresh information on such themes is a valid lever for boosting European Union integration.
Our support is intended to: • offer technical information on how to access to and manage EU grants and projects; • make people find new transnational partnerships throughout Europe; • stimulate public debate on how to access to EU funds. Our ambition is to serve as a technical resource center. We want to serve primarily those that usually work on writing applications and
managing projects through European funding. Hello readers! In the 5th of June 2022 edition, we took a look on numerous new EU calls. We refreshed our monitor on Europeaid new calls and some very different funding opportunities among competive calls (funded by Horizon 2020 programme) and other Research and Development funding calls. A very important call is under Horizon Europe Programme, aimed at funding the implementation and institutional capacity in coordination of innovation ecosystems across Europe. Overall this week we reached a total number of 386 funding calls documented. In the next weekly issues we will be producing all synopses related to the other funding calls monitored so far. European Health Data and Evidence Network (EHDEN)
Objective
The European Health Data and Evidence Network (EHDEN) invites Data partners in Europe to apply for funding to map their health data to the OMOP common data model (CDM). The ambitions of the EHDEN project are high. We aim to standardise more than 100 million patient records across Europe from different geographic areas and different data sources. Mapping of such data to the OMOP CDM will facilitate their use for a variety of purposes, enhancing and accelerating research and healthcare decision-making for global benefit.
Eligible Activities
1) Knowledge Transfer Experiments (KTE), which comprise a novel type of internship experiments allowing smaller projects, or less mature ideas to be presented, tested and thus potentially find the fertile ground to grow and reveal its product potentials; 2) Focused Technology Transfer Experiments (FTTEs), focusing on one of the four defined underrepresented areas, will give the opportunity to form synergies, accelerate product orient projects and offer guidance towards successful commercialisation; 3) Cross-domain Technology Transfer Experiments (CTTEs), targeting more complex multidisciplinary transfers and productization of novel CLEC CPS and the IoT technologies to wider markets.

Objective
The traditional city innovation ecosystem is opening up to new models of innovation engaging citizens. An increasing number of cities are acting as test beds for innovation and run citizens-driven initiatives to find solutions for their relevant societal challenges. The public domain is particularly challenged with finding effective ways to ensure the mainstreaming of these practices into the ordinary urban development process. Successful practices are particularly crucial to enhance the city's capacity to attract new resources, funds and talents to stimulate the growth of breakthrough innovations. Moreover, collaboration and strengthening synergies among innovation ecosystems boost cities’ development and resilience to tackle urban challenges. For this reason, the European Capital of Innovation Awards will recognize the cities’ role as catalysers of the local innovation ecosystem and will stimulate new activities aimed at boosting gamechanging innovation.
Eligible Activities
A European prize to the most innovative cities ecosystems. The award will raise the profile of the cities that have developed and implemented innovative policies; established frameworks that boost breakthrough innovation; enhanced the city attractiveness towards investors, industry, enterprises and talents; helped to open up connections and strengthen links with other cities, promoting the replication of best practices in the innovation field; enhanced citizens' involvement in the decision-making process; and supported cities resilience. 1 winner: the winner (ranked 1st) will be named the European Capital of Innovation 2022 and will receive a prize of EUR 1 million. The prize is dedicated to recognise the winning city's innovative practices, raise its international profile, and enhance its capacity as a widely recognised role model city for urban innovation. 2 runners-up cities: top two cities (ranked 2nd and 3rd) with the most disruptive innovation practices that lead to outstanding impact will be awarded each a prize of 100 000 EUR.

Objective
To reach the ambitious goal of a decarbonized and efficient circular economy, lightweight construction was identified to play a key role. Thereby, the application of advanced lightweight materials such as polymer-based composites, ceramic matrix composites and light metal alloys has already enabled significant weight reductions while increasing performance over the past decades. However, the application potential of advanced lightweight materials that has been achieved scientifically and technically has not yet been fully exploited by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The AMULET consortium brings together a comprehensive network of over 1717 SMEs, 341 large companies and 93 universities, research and innovation institutes.
Eligible Activities
Proposals should address the development and implementation of demonstration activities around technology and system applicable to exactly one of the Open Challenges (available in Annex 2 of the GfA) coming from one of the three types of lightweight materials (polymer-based composites, ceramic matrix composites, and light metal alloys) for four industrial markets: automotive, aero-space & aeronautics, energy, and building. The funding instrument will include a lump-sum grant of up to €120,000 per project (whereas SMEs individually may not receive more than €60,000) for developing the solutions at demonstration scale and coaching sessions during and beyond their development. The total duration of support provided will not exceed 15 months per project and will be divided into 3 stages. - up to 26 consortia (2-3 SMEs) to submit a feasibility study: €23,000 - up to 7 consortia (2-3 SMEs) to demonstrate their solutions: €80,000 - up to 7 consortia (2-3 SMEs) to follow a tailored educational program: €17,000

Objective
The EIC Scaleup 100 should help identify a cohort of 100 deep-tech companies from the portfolio of EIC supported startups as well as from similar programmes at EU level (such as the Digital Europe Programme and the EIT) and at Member State and Associated Country level, with the potential to scale up as global leaders or potential unicorns. Taking into account the diversity of national programmes, this action is also open to companies not being supported by national programmes as long as they meet the requirements for scaling up.
Eligible Activities
The proposed action will focus on EIC beneficiaries on one hand and European scaleups not currently benefitting from direct EIC support on the other hand. Both categories have to be ready for series B+ funding rounds. It is estimated that at least 50 companies would be identified from the EIC portfolio and up to 50 from other programmes at EU, Member State and Associated Country level, or supported by other relevant EU programmes or private initiatives, ensuring a geographical, and sector diversity. Particular attention should be paid to attracting women-led companies. The proposal will have to describe their methodology, both for identifying the supported companies and for scaling them up, the concrete set of proposed actions for scaling up and argument, why the action is proposed and is suitable for scaling up European companies.
Eligible Applicants
The selected entity or consortium should have the knowledge, expertise and means, to foster substantial growth of deep-tech and digital European scaleups that will increase their number and value of commercial deals, investments deals and initial public offerings (IPOs)/acquisitions of the cohort.

The EIC Accelerator supports the later stages of technology development as well as scale up. The EIC Accelerator looks to support companies where the EIC support will act as a catalyst to crowd in other investors necessary for the scale up of the innovation.
Eligible Activities
The EIC Accelerator focuses on innovations building on scientific discovery or technological breakthroughs (‘deep tech’) and where significant funding is needed over a long timeframe before returns can be generated (‘patient capital’). Such innovations often struggle to attract financing because the risks and time period involved are too high. Funding and support from the EIC Accelerator is designed to enable such innovators to attract the full investment amounts needed for scale up in a shorter timeframe. The EIC Accelerator supports companies (principally SMEs, including startups) to scale up high impact innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones. Objective
Clean energy transition plans and strategies should reflect high levels of ambition (tailored to the specific geographical, societal or political context) and/or consider the application of innovative elements through local pilots, for instance transition management, carbon budgets, decentralisation of energy production, or green procurement practices. Moreover, they should be fully in line with the energy efficiency first principle; the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs); the EU Green Deal and its initiatives such as the Renovation Wave; the transposition of the ‘Fit for 55’ legislative revisions into national laws – in particular the Recast of the Energy Efficiency Directive, which calls for municipalities to set up local heating and cooling plans[3]; the national Long-Term Renovation Strategies; the European Climate Pact; the Covenant of Mayors; the National Recovery and Resilience Plans and the Regional and National Programmes under the Cohesion Policy Funds; the Horizon Europe mission on climate-neutral and smart cities; the REPowerEU plan to phase out EU dependence on fossil fuels imports, and any other relevant elements of the EU and national climate and energy policy frameworks, in order to contribute to the 2030 and 2050 EU energy and climate targets.
Eligible Activities
Proposals should address one or both of the following areas of work: Actions should provide support to regional and local authorities and build their capacities to deliver, implement and monitor ambitious short and medium-term clean energy plans and strategies for 2030 – with a potential to pave the way for the 2050 carbon neutrality goal - in coherence with EU and national energy and climate targets and frameworks. Actions should focus at implementing the right mix of activities that will build/increase the technical, legal and social skills among local and regional authorities.

Towards a zero-emission building stock: strengthening the enabling framework for deep renovation

Objective
This topic aims to increase the level of energy performance reached after building renovation and the number of ‘deep renovations’. This requires addressing the obstacles to deep renovation, which are present at different levels. When deep renovation cannot be implemented in one step, staged deep renovation is an option which should be promoted through public policies. It implies that the measures implemented comply with a long-term deep renovation strategy for the building, thus avoiding lock-in effects. Renovation passports are essential to support staged deep renovation and the proposal for an EPBD recast sets up a framework for their introduction by Member States. Their roll-out needs to be supported in close link with energy performance certificates and one-stop-shops for building renovation.
Eligible Activities
Proposals should increase the uptake of deep renovation, by addressing one of the following areas; addressing several areas does not necessarily increase the relevance of the proposal. Regardless of the area(s) chosen, proposals should be well tailored to the action context in terms of building segment(s) and typology(ies), climatic zone(s), and legal, administrative, economic, market related or social conditions, and well aligned with the national and/or local initiatives in place or under development. The Expanding Investments Ecosystems should attract foreign investors into “modest’ and ‘moderate’ innovation ecosystems by raising awareness of local innovation ecosystems and their start-ups, as well as the potential of the whole region, to capital providers from across Europe.The action supports co-designed programmes of activities, of at least two years, proposed by business acceleration service providers and/or investor networks and clubs, located in less connected innovation ecosystems (‘modest’ and ‘moderate’) and innovation hubs (‘strong innovators’ and innovation leaders’), to facilitate the entry of funders in less connected innovation ecosystems through activities. To ensure that the impact of the action goes beyond consortium members and their respective countries, it is encouraged that the consortium works closely with innovation agencies from their respective territories and beyond, and seeks for synergies with relevant EU initiatives such as the Enterprise Europe Network.

Objective
European Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) are called to play a key role in this respect since their mission is to find common mechanisms that could help their local startups, SMEs and slightly bigger companies to really scale-up their businesses, contributing to the creation of smart cross domain and cross border solutions. Ultimately, coming up with new business models fitted to solve most of the issues that are holding the EU back from realising its potential in the data economy. In this context, the main goal of the i4Trust initiative is to boost the development of innovative services around new data value chains . We achieve this by providing the right tools, training, mentoring and funding for the creation of Data Spaces enabling trustworthy and effective data sharing. Ecosystems of collaborating SMEs and supporting DIHs will emerge in a sustainable way around such Data Spaces. Throughout the duration of the Project, i4Trust is launching its second and last open call to select up to 19 Bottom-Up Experiments.
Eligible Activities
The tools for the creation of Data Spaces comprise mature standard-based building blocks from the FIWARE and iSHARE frameworks, together with common data models defined for multiple application domains. The FIWARE Context Broker building block supports effective data exchange among parties by using the standard NGSI. Combined with commonly adopted data models, all these building blocks bring the means to support full interoperability among parties and core concepts such as loose coupling (in which the involved participants may have specific, but more limited knowledge about each other), as well as reusability and replaceability of data sources and applications. i4Trust will help generate significant benefits for European SMEs that are not yet data-driven, in terms of innovative power and higher sales and revenue. Selected consortiums made of SMEs and DIHs will receive funding as a lump sum, ranging from €72,000 to €120,000 per consortium, depending on the number of members within each consortium. Eligible activities are: - Design, implementation and testing of the software associated with your experiment. This may include the creation of adapters to existing systems or the creation of new services (e.g., Innovative analytics service where data remains decentral and at source while analytics is performed and only derived results -depending on use case without personal data- is made available) ● Deployment and operation of the required i4Trust Building Blocks, thus enabling systems from organisations involved in your experiment to share data. ● Creation of a Data Node instance using i4Trust building blocks (a platform where data from organisations is made available to the ecosystem) or publication of offerings on data from organisations using the global experimental i4Trust Data Marketplace instance. ● Participation in relevant market fairs and global events, where the i4Trust project will be presented, to showcase the results of the experiment and address potential customers and stakeholders (e.g FIWARE Global summit) ● Documentation of the experimentation (e.g. FIWARE Impact Stories, FIWARE worldwide Blogpost, possibility to access at the FIWARE Marketplace) for publication on the i4Trust, FIWARE and/or iSHARE websites.

Objective

Eligible Activities
Support is foreseen for collaborative projects in and between any news media (sub)sector and/or genre that aim to enhance cooperation and instil systemic change across the wider news media ecosystem. The proposed activities should be clearly justified and based on the needs of the chosen (sub)sector(s). The proposed partnerships are encouraged to involve organisations from countries/regions with different and diverse media capabilities. Proposals should cover one or more of the following priorities: Collaborative business transformation, and/or Collaborative journalistic projects. Overlapping activities combining both priorities may be included. Proposals should involve as many news media as possible, to benefit the wider European news media community.

The project should contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: The establishment and development of a network of and for the cultural and creative industries (CCIs)[1] in the EU Member States and associated countries, covering the diversity of the CCIs in terms of sectors, countries and company size, with particular attention to small and medium-sized enterprises[2]. Well-founded and prioritised recommendations for EU policy on R&I and in other key areas for the CCIs, including to contribute to the 2030 objectives of the European Green Deal[3], notably in terms of environmental sustainability, while strengthening competitiveness and internationalisation. Structurally strengthened cooperation between CCIs across sectorial, geographical and cultural borders, as well as between CCIs and other economic sectors[4], empowering the CCIs to assume a proactive innovation-driving role, resulting in more innovations with a cultural and creative base. European CCIs ready for the green and digital transitions.
Eligible Activities
Proposals should show how projects will: Establish a strong, inclusive and representative network of and for the CCIs with a focus on research and innovation. The network should extend across CCI sectors at EU[7] level, and establish connections to other important economic sectors. It should be an inclusive platform, which taps into the business potential of all CCI actors while supporting the green and digital transitions. The network should have the capacity to strengthen the innovation ecosystem, by facilitating cooperation, mutual learning and capacity building within R&I for and with the CCIs. Important aspects of the network include interoperability and scale. A collaborative platform should be used to this end. Contribute to the design and prioritisation of EU policy actions, particularly R&I policy actions, that will create favourable conditions for the growth of a dynamic and wellfunctioning CCI-driven innovation ecosystem. This should include at least the following: Assess needs for future R&I actions for the CCIs, and set up a priority list per sector and company size. Map the needs of the CCIs in terms of technology investment, skills, policy and regulation, etc. to allow them to contribute to the EU’s 2030 Green Deal goals as well as to the digital transition. Assess these needs at national & European levels and provide recommendations for EU level action. Identify and propose key policy actions, including suitable regulatory innovation frameworks, needed to foment the creation of a culture and creativity driven European innovation ecosystem. Proposals should also show how projects will contribute to raise awareness of the social, economic and job creation capacity of the CCIs, for example by means of demonstrations of innovations or novelties, along with other information and dissemination activities.

This coordination and support action serves the Missions, namely, “Adaptation to Climate Change: Support at least 150 European regions and communities to become climate resilient by 2030”, “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030”, “Cancer: Improving the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 through prevention, cure and for those affected by cancer including their families, to live longer and better”, “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030”, and “A Soil Deal for Europe: 100 living labs and lighthouses to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030”, by replicating and enhancing existing, demonstrably successful product, services, business model, organizational, governance, and other social innovations capable of addressing objectives appropriate for the Missions at European scale.
Eligible Activities
In order to help Missions achieve their objectives, the consortium will undertake the following activities, i.e., set up a European Social Innovation Catalyst Fund (“the Fund”) to ensure adequate financial support for replicating existing, demonstrably successful social innovations. The Fund will be funded jointly by the European Commission and by funding secured by the members of the consortium. The consortium is invited to combine Horizon Europe and other public and private funding including philanthropic sources to form a dedicated facility to support successful social innovations. Blending Horizon Europe and other public and private resources would translate into a meaningful innovation in terms of EU co-investment schemes for social and environmental good, building on the Horizon 2020 European Social Catalyst Fund pilot[1]. The EU will contribute a maximum of one quarter of the Fund. Accounting for financial investment calendars, the creation of the Fund should take no more than six months to a year; put forward open calls for proposals for the replication of existing social innovations. The Fund will support third parties not only in terms of financing, but also of advisory, networking, and any other means objectively increasing the chances of success of the replication projects. The open call must be published widely, including on the Horizon Europe Participant Portal and through National Contact Points.
