The smart tool for EU proposal drafters and grant writers CallforEurope is a consultancy that provides for professional information and assistance on European Policies, Programmes and Public Calls. We think that giving fresh information on such themes is a valid lever for boosting European Union integration.

Our support is intended to: • offer technical information on how to access to and manage EU grants and projects; • make people find new transnational partnerships throughout Europe; • stimulate public debate on how to access to EU funds. Our ambition is to serve as a technical resource center. We want to serve primarily those that usually work on writing applications and

managing projects through European funding. Call them “Euro-drafters” or “Euro-experts”: in any case, their activity demands high specialization and a constant updating on European policies, programs and public calls. Hello readers! In the 8st of May 2022 edition, we monitored new calls issued by very different EU programmes. Civil Protection Programme and Internal Security Fund published new funding calls aimed at fighting against corruption and human trafficking. A new call was issued by Creative Europe programme on promoting media across Europe. In the communication field we monitored a call offered by the European Parliament. Four competitive calls we monitored and funded by specific Horizon 2020 - supported subprogrammes. Last but not least a 100M EUR new call under the European Social Fund+ was issued by the European Commission for supporting good practices and new initiatives across the EU in the field of social innovation.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONSULTATION ON SINGLE SYNOPSES

Programme

Public programmes that fund the specific call for proposals, according to specific policy objectives, and accompanied by specific working plans, financial regulations, etc.

Administration

Administrations, Institutions and/or Agencies, committed to the implementation of the programmes and funding of coherent initiatives and projects according to the single ongoing call for projects.

Objective

Public calls for projects generally include the general and specific objectives to be achieved by the funded initiatives. Objectives are coherent with the general ones defined by the funding programmes.

Eligible Activities

Projects are expected to be implemented through types of activities identified as eligible to public funding. In many cases, calls also list activitities and connected costs not eligible to public funding from a specific European programme.

Entities eligible to apply for funding can be physical or legal persons. Legal persons can include public and/or private entities. In many cases, calls require applicants to form partnerships or legal consortia, with specific conditions for lead applicans, applicants and associate entities.

The scope of this action is to develop early warning mechanisms and guidance in the area of pricing through the EURIPID database, based on lessons from competition cases, in particular on excessive pricing.

Eligible Activities

The activities will include the monitoring of strategic sequencing of price increases of threats to de-list reimbursable medicines or withdraw of medicines. These activities may prevent price increases based on unfounded claims to recover investments and increased costs.

Objective

The main objective of this action is to increase awareness, knowledge generation, and sharing, and capacity building to improve mental health and psychological wellbeing in migrants and refugee populations, with a special focus on Ukraine’s displaced people, via the implementation of promising and best practices and guidance.

Eligible Activities

The activities are about exchanging and implementing best practices that will increase awareness, knowledge sharing and support for health professionals and NGOs working with refugees.Specifically, the actions will support interested stakeholder organisations, to discuss and exchange mental health practices and knowledge, to implement promising and best practices and evidence-based actions. The activities should focus on the needs of Ukraine’s displaced people who are mainly located in Ukraine’s neighbouring countries or in other EU member states and support for NGOs and health professionals speaking Ukrainian/Russian who work with Ukrainian displaced people. The actions will include work that builds on the already available training material of the Health Policy Platform/ ECDC Virtual Academy of the mental health training for professionals dealing with refugees, including translations when needed.

DIH-World is looking for innovative experiments across Europe that integrates digital technologies in the processes, products or services of manufacturing SMEs. Innovative experiments are projects to be implemented by a consortium made of an SME and a Digital Innovation Hub. The selected innovative technology experiments will be joining the DIH-World community, boosting the interaction and cross border cooperation among DIHs and SMEs, and also among DIHs from the European Network. • Meetings (in person or remotely): o Kick-off meeting of the DIH-World selected experiments; o Participation in the Individual Monitoring Meeting with DIH-World monitoring team; o Participation in the Project final monitoring event; o Participate, if officially required and communicated by the Contracting Authority, to workshops, webinar or training session organised by DIH-World consortium or by any of the supporting actions promoted by the EC. • Dissemination: creation of at least 2 dissemination materials; • Deliverables: preparation and delivery of the experiment deliverables: Trial Handbook and cost statement.

Objective

In response to this topic, EIT Manufacturing should show how the KIC could contribute to the outcomes and impacts described in the KIC Strategic Agenda and the KPIs in the EIT Impact Framework following the specific EIT Manufacturing’s Impact Pathways, the likely scale and significance of this contribution, and the measures to maximise these impacts in the context of Horizon Europe.

Eligible Activities

KICs will undertake in particular: (a) innovation activities and investments with Union added value; (b) innovation-driven research, experimentation, prototyping and demonstration in areas of key economic, environmental and societal interest and drawing on the results stemming from Union and national research; (c) education and training activities in particular at master's and doctoral level, as well as professional training courses, in areas with the potential to meet future European socio-economic and socioecological needs and which expand the Union’s talent base, promote the development of innovation-related skills; (d) actions as part of the pilot higher education initiative to better integrate HEIs in innovation value chains and ecosystems; (e) outreach activities and the dissemination of best practices in the field of innovation with a focus on the development of cooperation between higher education, research and business, including the service and financial sectors, and, where relevant, public and third sector organisations;(f) RIS activities, fully integrated in the KICs’ multiannual strategy and linked to the relevant smart specialisation strategies; (g) to seek synergies and complementarities between KIC activities and existing Union, national and regional programmes; (h) to mobilise funds from public and private sources; (i) to provide, on request, information on research and innovation outputs and results, and related intellectual rights.

Objective

EBSI is already developing 7 use cases in cooperation with Member States and other Commission Services where significant resources have been invested and will need continued support until deployment for business continuity reasons. EBSI will support these cross border services and applications leveraging the EBP priorities. It will reinforce the catalytic role of EBSI for providing better services to citizens and opportunities for businesses. The objective is to support through grants actions that reinforce the EBSI infrastructure and the EBP use cases. This will engage a large range of European actors in actions related to EBSI and EBP priorities.

Eligible Activities

This part concern all the EBSI actions for 2021-22, that are implemented through call for proposals. It will support the roll out of the EBSI by contributing to the deployment of nodes in all Member States enhancing the performance and robustness of EBSI, and to the implementation of local support services (help desk, information and training activities for local authorities, citizens etc.). It will support as well as the deployment of the crossborder use cases already selected by EBP. 2 types of proposals are foreseen to be funded (depending on the use case covered): i. Leveraging the work on verifiable credentials of the EBSI’s Diploma and the European Social Security Pass use cases ii. Other use cases

Objective

The project will support closer collaboration in the digital education sector in Europe amongst European EdTech start-ups/SMEs and other relevant stakeholders and across Europe. It will foster the exchange of good practices at pan-European level, aiming at increased capacities of the national education systems and at distance, innovative, effective and inclusive learning. It will also foster increased opportunities for the European EdTech industry, while promoting European ethical values regarding the use of educational technologies and data shared in Europe. It will contribute to increasing synergies and complementarity between initiatives in digital education, in particular in view of the Erasmus programme and Horizon Europe. It will also help the education sector to be better prepared for possible future crisis such as additional lock-downs to due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Objective: This action will support the digital transformation of the education sector at European level by boosting innovation in education in Europe by supporting EdTech startups and SMEs to accelerate their disruptive EdTech solutions. The project will support the strategic priority of the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 and in full synergy with, and complementarity to, the objective of setting up a European Digital Education Hub and in line with the European Education Area framework.

Host a pan-European network to promote European excellence in educational innovation by bringing together European EdTech start-ups/SMEs, with other relevant actors such as technology providers, industry associations and investors, policy makers and ministries, schools, teachers, universities, research organisations, experts and NGOs, and linking this network to other existing pan-European networks/fora. Support cooperation between EdTech start-ups/SMEs and other stakeholders of a maximum number of Member States and Associated countries to exchange best practises, analyse successful applications of digital technologies and potential market uptake, explore lessons learned during and after the Covid-19 crisis. This should be done in close cooperation with the development of the European Education Area. Support EdTech companies with business and educational mentoring and training services and by gaining insights and understanding market trends and needs by collecting comprehensive and high-value up-to-date data to better understand the EdTech start-ups/SMEs landscape in Europe. Develop guidelines aiming at fostering a wider European EdTech industry for the development of digital education content, solutions and tools, in light of technological needs (connectivity, platforms, interoperability, standardisation, security and privacy issues, use of emerging technologies such as AI or data) as well as pedagogical, societal and ethical aspects, based on relevant scientific evidence and in consultation with European Education area stakeholders. Propose a roadmap towards a European EdTech ecosystem promoting European excellence in educational innovation, including how local, regional, national and European efforts can be combined.

Objective

The objective of the call is to develop the social enterprise finance market. It will catalyse risk capital investments below EUR 500 000 that otherwise would not happen in the area of social finance, by supporting transaction costs linked to these investments. This transaction cost support scheme takes the form of a grant and can be combined with financial instruments as a means to address the mismatch of needed and sustainable ticket sizes. The grant is aimed at financial intermediaries that undertake long-term risk capital investments in ticket sizes of less than EUR 500 000 in the form of equity quasi-equity or hybrid financing to social enterprises in the ESF+ Associated Countries. It will serve to lower the transaction costs for these small investment tickets and thus help overcome a market failure in the social enterprise finance market.

Eligible Activities

Activities related to the preparation, conclusion and follow-up of long term risk capital investments into social enterprises may be funded under this call for proposals. This may include a mix of activities such as: − travelling to meet (potential) investees; − screening and processing investment applications; − preparing legal documents, potentially with a lawyers' advice; − carrying out the due diligence, including assessing (potential) impact of the investment; − providing investment readiness, scaling readiness or business restructuring support; − bringing in co-investors; − managing the investments and monitoring social impact. The long term risk capital investments may take the form of equity, quasi-equity or hybrid financing of a maximum of EUR 500 000 per investment per social enterprise over a period of at least 18 months.

UIA is Europe’s Innovation Laboratory for cities. Starting in 2015, it has launched five calls linked to Europe’s urban policy priorities. Successful applicants are awarded up to € 5 million to implement their proposals. To date the initiative has approved 86 projects with a total investment budget of € 372 million.
